We have never been to the area, so I don't have anything to compare it with. Overall an amazing trip, but the inn was not the highlight. When we walked into the room, we were surprised at how old the decor was and hoped it wouldn't rain because we didn't want to get stuck in there. When we used the sink, the pipes made a screeching sound. The bathroom […] door didn't close all the way, and the light near the window was out, making our room quite dark. Breakfast (which is apparently being discontinued) was disappointing at first, but we started to appreciate the toast and cereal after a few days. Parking was also not great, with very narrow spaces that we had trouble fitting our tiny car into. On the good side, the location and view were perfect. There was a fan in our room, which we needed at night, and it was very quiet with the window closed. We also were there one day when housekeeping came to clean our room, and the woman was so friendly and sweet, calling my husband "my dear" in a motherly way, and doing her best to make us happy customers. I would recommend this inn if you're looking for something budget-friendly and won't be in the room much. I think there are also some really nice suites that cost more and have been updated. Breakfast was cereal and toast, lame. No AC! Right on main street so load outside with cars and people (again no AC so open window) and the faucet made so much noise (high pitched squeal) it was amazing. It is right in town so this was nice for walking/biking.

The Drake Hotel was quite disappointing. No air conditioning on a very hot day/night this summer. VEry run down and dingy hotel. Receptionist was not very polite either. I would never stay here again.

Good location but lots of noise from the restaurant below the rooms. Needs to be updated. Carpet worn and dirty. Had a Continental breakfast but one day they had to be gone so no breakfast!

Check in was pleasant. A room damage fee was required (still fine). The room was noisy. The real problem came upon check out. We had a long day ahead of us and we wished to check out by 8 am. When attempting to check out that morning the supervisor informed us that the room would have to be inspected for damage before we could be cleared of the damage […] fee. We were "told" that the staff would be cleaning the room at around noon and at that time she would inform us if we passed the damage inspection and could be on our way. Needless to say we were not going to wait until noon. So, my wife found the person that was suppose to clean our room and asked if she would inspect our room (we had already vacated our room a had left a sizable tip). She tried to call the supervisor by phone to inform her that the room was very nice. But, no one answered the phone. She gave my wife her name and said to tell the supervisor that things were fine. Now this is where things crossed the line for us. My wife returned to the supervisor to relay the message and was told that she was not to be talking to her people, that was her job and her job alone and my wife had over stepped her authority. Never before as a patron have we been treated in such a RUDE manner. If she worked for me I would have fired her on the spot and kicked her RUDE behind out the door. She was not pleased with us but cleared us with a wave of her majesty magic pen and we were on our way. Read more

Our room was on the 3rd floor, and there is no elevator, so a little difficult to carry heavy luggage that far. Our room overlooked the patio, where there were very loud people until after 11pm. You could also clearly hear all of the people at the Rose and Crown across the street until 1am; we didn't get much sleep. That was beautiful stay! My wife was amazed by mountain view from our room!!! Furniture and decoration was kind of unusual, not like in typical american hotels. Room had everything that needed, nice and clean. Location is also great: grocerie store, restaurant, and river close by, so we had nice walk as well.

The drake is in a great location in Canmore. It's right off of Main street where all the shops and restaurants are. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and always smiling.

The hotel was next to a bar and restaurant (attached) with live music at night. The curtains on the window (which faced the street) were very thin and did not block the light and could be seen through. The beds were old and very uncomfortable. The type of people that hung around the place were seedy and very suspicious looking.

This hotel is in an excellent location, but its a slightly older hotel. The rooms were clean & tidy but very hot at night. The staff were very friendly & helpful & there was continental breakfast available. I would recommend this hotel.

Room was not very clean and the room was extremely noisy on friday night (because of the pub close to the hotel room), strangely quieter on saturday night. Good place to stay if you just want a place to sleep during a weekend ski trip.

Not a great place for families. The Drake is a party place. The table tent on the dresser letting you know the non-emergency number for the cops "In Case of Disturbances" is telling, as were the myriad cigarette burn holes in the carpet, and the remote and car keys we found in the bed. No early chekc in. Staff late for breakfast, no microwave/fridge in the room. 2 AM a lot of noise coming from pub. Could hear each word... Really old TV and small. Staff seems overwhelmed because over worked...

I am going to keep this to pros and cons, and try and aviod bias. Pros: Clean, comfortable rooms Big, flat screen TV Nice bathrooms Great location, right in the centre of town, on site parking and 5 min walk from the greyhound stop. Fantasic views from my room - mountains all around, view of the creek which we were next to. Huge windows and balcony. Warm […] rooms dispite the temprature. Mostly quite location (one bad night with people turning up about 1am drunk and partying). Great information at the office - on bus routes to Banff and things to do. Bar attached and 10% discount if you're staying at the hotel. Great, comfortable beds. Cons: A motel rather than a hotel which we didn't realise - you have to go outside and across the parking lot for breakfast. 'Contenental' breakfast actually means a choice of toast or cereal - no pastries/muffins/fruit or anything else that you might expect. No hot drinks. No kettle in the room, we did get a coffee machine but only 2 sachets of coffee a day. Noisy heating. This didn't really bother me but the heating and fridge were both pretty noisy and woke me up on one occasion, so I guess if you're a REALLY light sleeper this may not be good for you. No TV guide in a magazine or available through the TV. Channels don't have names on the TV so trying to watch something means flicking aimlessly and hoping you get lucky. All in all however I'd say pretty good, better and cheaper than other places I've stayed in. Read more

Room was alright for the price. Definitely more of a party hotel than anything else. It kind annoyed us that they charged $20 for a late check out (12pm instead of 11am). All in all just fine for us (A 21/26 year old couple) Canmore isn't about staying in your hotel room so it was really just a place to sleep for us.
