It was fine for the prices we paid--clean, basic little kitchenette, cute cabins, and decent breakfast on Sat/Sun. I was annoyed by the overly punitive hotel rules. $50 for any dirty dishes left in the sink? $25 if the room needs sweeping or mopping? Also the Wifi did not work and the tv was spotty.

I love this place! The cabin is small but it should be expected when you ask for a studio. For two people up in big bear for a weekend its all you need and a fairly easy walk into the village (about 15 minutes). Probably the best value for the money of anywhere i have stayed in Big Bear.

The hotel was nice, the location was a little farther away from town center than expected, but overall the stay was good and I would stay here again. They did have some strange housekeeping, like making our bed and changing the towels but failing to replace the toilet paper? Weird. Hot tub also looked pretty dirty, like it hadn't been cleaned since […] 1973...tons of potential here, they are obviously remodeling the place. In a place where you go snowboarding/skiing, a hot tub is a requirement to rehab sore muscles, obviously their maintenence crew does not see cleaning as a top priority. We arrived at 1310hrs after a 3 hour drive, check in staff were not around, called a number posted on the door and person on phone was surprised no one was there. I was told that staff soon to arrive. about 15 minutes later saw a young female arrive and enter through the back door. I entered and went to the reception counter and was met by a young lady. […] She never introduced herself and proceeded to tell me that she was unavailable because it was her lunch break and to return 20 minutes later. (She was later identified as Sveta.) I was flabbergasted by such a statement. I've never heard of such a response in the 35 plus years that I have interacted with any hotel reception staff. As I was leaving, another couple arrived and I told them of my recent interaction with the front desk staff and they told me what kind of response was the and they left. I returned 40 minutes later with my family in tow to make sure that she got her lunch break. Absolutely amazing how a person in this day and economy did not care of the hotels image to prospective consumers. I definitely now will look to other hotels in the area before considering bear creek resort. The person with a pleasant disposition who checked us out and salvage some of the bad experiences was Christine. I hope that the Owners are made aware so that it does not happen to anyone else! Rooms and grounds have been updated so everything looks new and clean. We stayed 2 nights in cabin #21 which is attached to cabin #22. Rooms are cozy with a real fireplace, also built in wall heater, fan, microwave, coffee maker, small fridge, and small dining table. We could hear the music when we were in our room w/ the windows closed but this did not bother us. Room has flat screen tv, blow dryer, ironing board, iron, shower only no tub. They make you sign a form check out is 10 am (but website states 11am), if the room is too dirty upon check out there will be extra charges, and limit you to towels there's a list in the bathroom wall on how many towels you get and they will charge you if towels are missing. We only had one large towel each for the shower but we needed extra towels to go to the heated decent size pool. We figured they can record how many towels they give us and do a count when we leave. We left a note for the maid requesting extra towels for the pool but the maid never came to clean our room. Close to Big Bear Village shops and restaurants but no sidewalk to walk on so too dangerous to walk on busy street. Bear Creek Resort is a newer complex of cabins in a good location of Big Bear. Some of the cabins are not free-standing and share common walls. I had cabin #1, a two-bedroom cabin that shared a wall with another room/cabin. As another reviewer wrote, the walls are so thin that you can hear EVERYTHING going on in the next cabin. What's almost worse is […] that cabin #1 is the closest to the highway so you get a lot of traffic noise. The free continental breakfast is horrible and not worth waiting for, because it's only served from 8am to 10am. Lastly, there was an event (John Denver tribute concert) going on the weekend of my stay, so the parking lot was a mess that evening. Overall, I'd stay at Bear Creek Resort again but NOT in cabin #1. Hotel worked great for us, comfortable beds. It was a little smaller then we hoped for 6 people. Walls were a little thin, could hear conversation from the next door unit (mostly felt sorry for them, we're a rather loud Italian Family). The heater in the room was not functional and on requesting, some one came in the night to fix it, but again, it was not comforting to know that the unit has a malfunctioning valve. Once turned off, it won't turn back on. Other than that, it was a comfortable stay.

Two issues with our room: the flue on the fireplace was not functioning so we got a room ful of smoke - addressed with the desk where it was clear they weren't going to fix it. Good location but not within walking distance of village area and unable to walk to lake attractions (paved paths, boat rentals etc). Good value for money. Upon check-in front desk attendant wanted to photocopy my drivers license (had already paid in full via hotels.com) which I politely refused. Although, against my better judgement I permitted her to photocopy my credit card (since apparently they have no computer system in place to capture credit card data for room incidentals). I pray my photocopied credit card was properly secured in a lcoked drawer and will be shredded (since I have been a victum of identify theft recently and don't want to go through that again!). Our cabin was clean and warm! Beds were extremely comfortable. We were disappointed that the complimentary breakfast was only served on Saturday and Sunday. There was a big snow storm that came in and the staff was great about clearing the steps and pathways around the cabins.
