"Not What We Expected"
This hotel should be classified as a Bed and Breakfast. It is not a hotel...there are 7 really small rooms (even by European standards) in a quaint hacienda like setting. We had to climb over the cases no room for any thing. It is on a narrow alley like street so cabs can not enter. We had to drag the luggage in from the corner. Also, no elevators so […] we had to drag heavy cases up the stairs. The breakfast was minimal and many items were from the day before...not always the freshest. The heater did not work properly either and it happened to be very cold during our stay. The bed sheets were literally tissue paper thin. Never saw any like them anywhere in the world. Time for the owner to buy a few new sheets. We were there with 2 others couples (3 rooms total) and we all had problems. We travel often and are no strangers to hotels. There is much better value for the price in Malaga. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient location, pleasant staff, comfy bed"
Great location, in an atmospheric wee lane, just three minutes walk from Plaza de la Merced. Reception staff was friendly and helpful and smiley. Room was small, but had everything I needed (wifi, ac, tv, bright decent sized bathroom with shower, plus windows that opened). Everything was clean. The room was quiet. Breakfast buffet wasn't enormous, but […] was included in the very reasonable room rate. Would definitely stay again.

Genuine Expedia guest review

"Amazing breakfast and very friendly staff"
I and a friend stayed for a private holiday for 3 days. The hotel is really small and run by a private family. We really enjoy the accommodation there. Biggest advantages: 1) It provides a very delicious breakfast. The best thing was the orange juice which was made of fresh oranges each day. Very good! The breakfast itself consists of a buffet with […] 10 or 15 different thing to choose and you can eat as much as you want. This is a lot better as other 3-star hotels in Spain. 2) The very competent and friendly staff: After leaving Malaga, we were planning to visit the Alhambra in Granada. Unfortunately, we were not aware that we should reserve tickets at least 3 weeks in advance. Hence, we asked the receptionist (the father of the family) if he could help us. Despite the fact that all tickets were already sold, he was able to reserve 2 tickets for us from a third-party company, so we could enjoy the Alhambra. On this way, thank you again very much! Further hints: - The hotel is in a very historic and central quarter of the city. So it looks very nice and you need only 5 minutes to bars, discotheques, museums and cultural locations. The room itself is also in the same nice historical style which I was liking. However, do not expect a modern design, but it has TV and air conditioning. - The hotel is located in a narrow street, so you should be aware that you probably could not park your car there. So, in summary, I would recommend the hotel strongly : Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"kaldt, men pent."
Et vakkert hotell. Kaldt rom, sikkert behagelig når sommeren slår inn. Kaldt vanni dusjen. Dårlig frokost. Rent, og svært god service. Noe bråk fra andre gjester.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"lovely hotel and great location"

I booked the family room and wow-loved it! A huge ceiling, 3 rooms, including a large twin room with living room. A very friendly welcome. Minor wish would for a better breakfast selection but I would definitely go back.
"Nice little hideaway in central Malaga"

This is a really nice affordable place close to Malaga center. Everything within walking distance. Nice helpful staff serving a good included breakfast. Nearby is Placa Merced with Picasso's birthplace & restaurants.
"A neat little gem."

Ideally situated just around the corner from the Teatro Cervantes( which we were visiting), the alleyway approach is mildly off putting but the actual hotel is lovely. Very clean, charming decor, pretty courtyard and excellent facilities for a two-star , we were very pleased with our welcome, the manager's efforts to please and his attentiveness to our concern that we would have to depart the next day to catch our train to Madrid, before breakfast was served. He at once tried to get the kitchen staff to arrive earlier but this proved impossible so he prepared two packed continental breakfasts for us to take with us. It was a good selection too! The room was small but immaculately clean and it smelled really fresh. But the air con didn't work . Again the manager instantly offered a change of rooms but we declined. It was not a problem for our stay. Value for money, comfy beds and a quiet location. Ideal for our needs. It could benefit from having TV and Air-con user instructions in the rooms though for those like us who get boggled by several remote controls and odd symbols!
"In need of some work"

Third stay here, and I would return, but it needs some work to justify my previous higher ratings. Staff great as usual, and location excellent especially for holy week. Room 1 shower missing tiles, no plug in sink and skirting board needs repair.
"Delightful and very central B and B"

This is a charming hotel, conveniently situated in the very heart of old town Malaga, with a very welcoming atmosphere and a team of exceptionally helpful staff, especially Laura. Our room was small but comfortable, the shower was super-efficient, the breakfast was ok especially the fresh orange juice (although we would have loved some fresh bread and some fruit ) and the tiled patio was a lovely place to sit in the evening sunshine.
"Wonderful hostel in the heart of Malaga"

Our recent stay in Malaga was our 4th visit to the city and marked a second stay at Casa de las Mercedes. Indeed, we enjoyed our first stay in this hostel so much we went back. The positives of this hostel are clear: the hospitality of Laura is amazing. She really goes out of her way to make your stay as perfect as possible. She is basically the reason we'd go back to the hostel on our next visit to the city. Saying that, the location of this place is also really good. Don't be put off by the narrow and rather dirty street in which the hostel is located. The area is great, very close to the Cervantes theatre with lovely restaurants terraces in the square, a 2min walk from the beautiful Plaza Merced with the Picasso house of birth and even more bars and restaurants, a 1 min walk from the best tapas you have ever eaten (not cheap but really worth it) check out El Tapeo de Cervantes (in Calle de Cárcer; the street across from the theatre). The hostel is also kept very clean - the rooms, reception annex breakfast area and little garden are spotless. We had stayed in a large room on the 1st floor before where both the room and bathroom were spacious and had now booked a smaller (cheaper) room on the ground floor. The room is small but has adequate space to put your things (assuming you're staying in Malaga for a month ;-)). The bathroom however is tiny. We didn't mind a bit as the shower worked a treat and all facilities present were clean and operational - if you like large bathrooms with lots of space, then you shouldn't book here. Or get the upstairs large room and pay more. We'll be going back for sure - thanks for everything, Laura!
"Lovely casa, excellent location"
03/14/14 HannaHs48800 Kotka, Finland
The house and the rooms have a lovely Spanish atmosphere; our room was small but very pretty. The location on a pedestrian street means that it's fairly quiet, but yet it is so close to everything - the location couldn't be better! The staff is really friendly and speak good English. All in all a lovely stay and would definitely consider Casa de las Mercedes again on the next visit to Malaga.
"Perfect little hotel"
03/12/14 Kaisa K Rauma
Clean pretty rooms. Good breakfast, helpful staff and perfect location. Nice small place. The hotel is with in walking distance from pretty much anything you would want to see in malaga. The best restaurants are all also very near. Check out restaurants vino mio and pimpi.
"Simple hotel, but nice and in a great location"
12/14/13 MarkusG1032 Hersbruck, Germany
The hotel is located in a quiet pedestrian lane. It feels more like a guest house. The location is very central, with all the main attractions within walking distance. We arrived in the middle of the night and had a very hard time finding it within this maze of one-way streets and unfortunately without a decent map nor a navigation system. But the very friendly staff on the phone spoke very good English and helped us finding the parking lot. By the way, the parking fee is not included and considerable (15 Euros per day). We had a three-bed room on the ground floor, facing the inner court. So it was pretty much dark all the time, since you can choose between daylight or privacy. But if you are gone most of the time, this is not such a big issue. The bathroom could need a refurbishment. The available breakfast we never had, since there are so many other choices around, where you can sit in the sun while having it.
"Pleasant people, good value."
10/25/13 Niall H Takamatua, null, New Zealand
In a nice quiet lane behind a big wooden door, this feels like you are sharing a private home. The location is very handy, with the main attractions all within easy walking distance. We are in a three bed, funny internal room where you either have to choose light and air or privacy and darkness as otherwise people walking to their room along the passage can see you on or in bed. Even so it has a lovely atmosphere with its high open rafters and tiled surrounds. There is airconditioning if you have to shut the doors. For breakfast there is a selection of sliced meats and cheese, cereal - though no muesli, rolls and toast plus juice and coffee.
