I had to stay a day in this hotel waiting for my flight back home. The hotel was comfortable; however, the service was not all that great. The person at the desk was pretty friendly and polite. However, I could hardly understand what he was saying. I thought that someone was taking my bags to my room, but after I located them sitting by the elevator, […] I ended up taking it up myself and found my own room. The free breakfast was great, but the staff ignore foreign speaking guests. Puts no effort to try to understand what you want or what you are asking. As a matter of fact the waiter never looked up. I helped myself at all times. No help by staff for foreign guests that speak no Portugese. Otherwise pretty convenient area with park right accross the street full of people and transportation at the door. Read more

The room was clean but sparse. The bed spread was very thin and the floor was a wood panel. The bathroom didn't have have Kleenex or a glass of any kind.

The room was big with a large flat screen TV (premium chnls in English) stocked mini-fridge and very nice bathroom/shower. The free breakfast was also very good but a little repetitive. It was a 2min walk to the beach, in a nice part of Copa surrounded by bars and restaurants. There is also a 24hr grocery across the street . Hotel is well-located a couple blocks from the beach and close to many restaurants and the metro. The rooms are very spacious, well-maintained and clean. Service was good. Nice breakfast included. Quiet. Nothing fancy but very comfortable. Only two small elevators though so sometimes need to wait for the elevator.

When I decided on the Mar Palace..it was a no brainer..it was the only 3star + hotel that was available for the 4 days I was in Rio in the Copacabana or Ipenema neightborhoods.Turns out the "Rock In Rio" festival was in town and the hotel filled up with 20 somethings People on Friday .The peoper behind the counter ranged fron gruf to quite nice. Lobby […] and restaurant comfortable and decent food. Internet(and lock for room safe) a little pricey but unlike many hotels in Brazil..it worked well. Room was spacioius and good view of the park across the street. What I found strange was that despite huge amounts of wallspace not a single piece of art or picture. Excellent choice for the price. Our flight back to the US was at 1:30 AM and we had not booked a room for the last day but they made 1 room available to us,free of charge, so that we can take a shower and change our clothes before leaving for the airport.

They charged $15 a minute to call the United States using the room phone. None of the rooms have irons. They charge $7 to iron just one shirt. Awful service and unfriendly staff. Save your money and find a better hotel. Highly disappointed

Front desk service was excellent, breakfast mediocre, daily room service left some to be desired. No drinking water, no kleenex, no spare rolls. Gym was terrible, tiny room on the roof surrounded by glass without AC with just a couple of minimal cardio machines, the pic in the ad was taken so the mirrors make the gym look huge. My family stayed in the Mar Palace for Carnival in February 2012. It is situated in the centre of Copacabana and we were very happy with our stay. The beach is only two blocks away, about 5 minutes walk max. The nearest metro station is 3 blocks away, about 10 minutes walk max. The staff were helpful and friendly and spoke pretty good English - unlike […] many of the restaurants we tried in the area. The rooms were fine, if a little basic, and could do with a sofa or similar seating. The design of the headboard makes sitting up in bed a little uncomfortable. The rooftop terrace and pool were good, we used them several times. The pool is pretty small, and was fine for the kids to play in, but not really one for serious swimming. More of a plunge pool to cool off in for adults. You do get a great view of the Christ the Redeemer statue from the roof :) The breakfast buffet was great, with plenty of options. The quality of the lunches we had on the terrace was also very good. In general the hotel was fine as a base for our visit to Rio. Read more

Arrived late in the evening. Hotel dark and front door locked. Not welcoming. Very noisy air conditioning. After two days, toilet leaked. When we complained we were told that it was Sunday and no one was available to fix it! Went to reception and complained again. Offered alternative, inferior, room which we rejected. Then offered superior room at higher […] price. Again rejected and eventully allowed to go there at original price. Main problem was with hot water which was frequently unavailable (not what you want when you return from the beach covered in sand and sun tan lotion). Reception told us that because the hotel was full it took a long time to cope and reach all rooms, i.e. the sytem isn't up to the job. Not recommended unless you are on a tight budget. Read more

Our stay at the Mar Palace Copacabana was very good. The service was great and the staff very helpful. The breakfast each morning was always well prepared and very good too. I would recommend asking for a room facing the front. The location was very convenient and 2 blocks from the beach. Avoid using the laundry service which was very expensive.

O que mais gostei foi a localização. Perto da praia e bem central para os passeios que fomos fazer. O que mais deixou a desejar foram as camas - os colchões são velhos e de molas (já muito gastas), o que me fez doer bastante as costas. O café da manhã é bom, apesar da reposição ser demorada.
