Mia Pera Hotel - Boutique Class - Istanbul

My stay in this hotel was behind my expectation, they have a wonderful spa, staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are modern and clean, breakfast is typical but sufficient.

Location, location, location. This comfortable hotel has good modern and very well kept rooms but it's the location that makes it a good choice for a stay in Istanbul. You are close to everything! Service is not brilliant but okay. I have now stayed there twice and both times were good.

This hotel was overpriced just for being OUT the Taxsim area. The room I was given (506) was small & so was the TV. After I got in my room the staff kept coming to stock the minibar item by item. I didn't like the constant intrusion so I finally put up the do not disturb sign. Breakfast was BAD. I got there by 10am and everything was already picked […] over by the other guests. They made real oily runny scrambled eggs. The next day I got there at 9am & it was exactly as before with nothing being replaced.The hotel did NOT provide any free bottled water in the room nor in the breakfast area for foreign guests who should not drink the tap water. 99% of the hotel staff's English skill is BAD. Upon check out I was asked if I consumed anything in the mini bar. I said no. Then I was told that they couldn't find one chocolate (accusing me of eating it). I was mad and told them that I had a better quality candy bar (Cadbury) in my purse which I pulled out to show them that I could have eaten if I wanted a chocolate! I felt that for the value of the money I paid for this hotel it was way overpriced. There are so many more hotels cheaper in better areas that could be booked just go there without a reservation by walking ON Istikial Cd. look between the smaller streets. ASK to see the room before negotiating the price. Avoid any hotel near a disco or bar area where music is played as they play loudly until 02:30am. Read more

We had a good deal online which made this a great choice. i was a bit disappointed that the rooftop was closed for the season which is not clear online (or even in the hotel when the rooftop is advertised in the elevators!). also the pool and sauna is a bit rundown, with missing tiles and dirty chairs, and no staff there to get the sauna to work properly. […] having said that, the room itself was gorgeous....very clean, large, great design, fridge and coffeemaker, etc. also great beds...the room had everything. the same can't be said of the rest of the hotel. breakfast was pretty good. Only would recommend based on Great location and fair price, but service was better at other hotels we stayed at in Turkey. Some staff were ambivalent while others were helpful. Asked one of the head desk gentleman if we could grab a small bottle of lotion which he said they do not have only to pass the maids cart minutes later on our floor with zillions […] of bottles of lotion.There was mold in corner of showers that easily could have been cleaned. The hotel location is it's best selling proposition it's just within the Beyoglu area but not along the busy traffic so you can enjoy some sort of the privacy. The rooms are new and neatly furbished and maintained as well. The only not so good thing is the attitude of most of the front desk clerks, except for a select few (wanted to mention names but […] they dont wear nametags), the rest are very cold. They dont smile and you feel that they are just compelled to work there. I stayed there for five days and not once did I feel familiar with any of the front desk clerks unlike my experience with other hotels - and you see them most of the time as you come and go. The hotel enjoys a fantastic location. So convenient! The hotel is nice and the rooms are good. The service is hugely lacking. Not sure why but the hotel staff really doesn't seem to care about the service they provide to their guests. The room was supposed to come with high speed internet, one of the reasons we had chosen this hotel, but the internet […] never worked and the staff couldn't see the problem. They didn't fix it till the fourth day of our stay and offered no apologies. Another reason for choosing the hotel was the rooftop terasse, but this was still closed for the winter. If your visiting Istanbul for tourism then this hotel is in the perfect location just 30 seconds walk to Taksim. The hotel is clean and modern with great facilities such as a pool and spa. Breakfast was included in the price of our room. Would stay again for sure. On par with 4* hotels of leading chains.

Everyone at the hotel was great. The hotel is located close to tons of restaurants and shops. It is not as touristy as other parts of Istanbul, which means you can actually interact with the locals. The house keeping staff was friendly and they kept the hotel looking great. The front desk staff made out stay relaxing and they helped with any problems […] we had. The staff didnt really help at all with directions. I also asked if they could call a shuttle company for me to make a reservation for my next stop in Kayseri and then said not necessary take a cab. Cab cost me 225TL!! No taksi in town knows where or how to get to this hotel!! I am serious, not one we got into. For the price, there HAS to be better […] options than this place. Good service, good breakfast, nice little pool and spa in basement which you don't get with other boutique hotels, nice bar on the roof. Located in the middle of Istiklal avenue in Taksim area. The only issue we had was the maid service was not thorough or consistent in their daily cleaning.

This is a boutique hotel, so do not expect large areas. Having said that, the experience was very pleasant. I would recommend gettnig a room opposite to the front of the hotel. 5 min after I get to the room I got locked inside the bathroom. It took them 10 min to send some one to try to open the door. My wife called for the manager and he did not even have the basic courtesy to come to the room. After I got out, I come down to the reception to find out that the manager is chilling in the reception with a cup of coffee. At […] this point I am mad. I start talking to him and he keep smiling at me. When I ask him if this is funny, he says that they were taught by the hotel management to smile at all customers at all times. This just made me livid. He had the audacity to tell me to keep my voice down. Customer service in this hotel is worse than a no star hotel. My three day stay here was beyond horrible. It just got worse every day. The breakfast is very bad, the AC did not work and their response to our call was to turn it off for the night and they will work on it in the morning, towels were not changed... The list goes on.... The morning breakfast entailed a wide selection of American, European and Turkish treats which were all fresh and tasty. The hotel maintained a clean lobby. Daily maid service occurred late in the day, but could have been earlier in the day […] if requested. The small room size disappointed, however comfortable bed and bed linens as well as new and modern bathrooms did not. The hotel maintained a computer and printer for the business center which was adequate for my needs. The location to Beyoglu and Taksim made my business trip both convenient and enjoyable. Very nice hotel had to get a room upgrade at first because the the first room wasnt very nice but had no problem getting that. Thank you. This is the first hotel I've ever stayed in where the room looks better in person than on the official hotel photographs. Pillows were fab, wet room was fab, shower fab. Tv could have been bigger but that's being picky. We were located next to the lift but didn't hear a thing. There is building work going on in the building opposite which starts at […] 8am and they we even seen and slightly heard them working at it up till midnight however it didn't disturb us. Overall I was very pleased with the hotel. The staff were nice and even opened up the roof terrace to allow me to take some photos overlooking the city. They have […] a huge ensuite bathrooms with a great power shower, cable TV and radio etc... HOWEVER... I have slept on softer floors!!! If rock hard beds are you thing, then ignore this paragraph. I really cannot fault this hotel at all but when it comes to the bed, I am bamboozled by the breaze-block in our room which took its place??? I cannot speak for every room but after 3 nights I was longing for some comfort! If Mia Pera purchased some new mattresses... this would be my recommendation of the year!! Don't get me wrong, I am a big fella and own a firm bed at home. I have slept in many different beds around the world from hammocks to futons, but this bed was HARD!!! Anyway, without banging on about beds... Mia Pera is a fantastic Hotel which I would recommend to anyone and everyone visiting Istanbul.
