Apartment K is not a single hotel, but a group of scattered apartments in the center of Reykiavik. Some are above storefronts and some are apartment buildings. They all seem to be at the heart of the action in Reykiavik. We stayed at 2 different apartments, and they were clean, modern and offered internet, dishwasher, microwave, stovetop, fridge, and […] bathroom. The price varies widely from one week to another so book your whole stay up front. Bring AA and AAA batteries, because all remotes, and clock batteries were dead in both apartments. Our one bedroom apt was located on the top floor of laugavegur 46 . Excellent location with bonus supermarket and 1011 convenient store close by. And it's true it was quite noisy during the weekend nights but we were so tired from all the activities during the day that it didn't bother us at all. I think the location worth a little bit disturbance at […] night. The apt was very spacious and clean. A lot of space for us to open our luggages. Hangers provided for hanging coats. Nice little kitchen with modern gadgets. I love my comfy sofabed And thank God this bathroom is not the doorless one and has curtain. Excellent service. We have changed our plan and arrived apt K super early at around 9am. The staff told us he couldn't let us check in early but offered us a place to store our luggages while we could walk around in the city while we wait. And when we decided last minute that we wanted to join a tour he called right away to help us make the booking. And he explained everything very clearly. Even though we didn't have any staff at our building they were very accessible. We realized some of the cooking utensils were missing. We gave them a call and they brought everything we needed to our apartment within 15 minutes. And easy check out. Read more

A very great place to stay for a good price. We had the best location possible as it was right in the city center and walking distance to everything. It's also right next to one of the major tour companies, a bus station, and in the center of all the night life. Apparently there is more than one location, and the other location may not be as convenient […] (according to some reviews). The only major problems were that they charged as an early check-in fee at 9am (check-in at 3pm) despite the room already being clean and free and the wifi wasn't working in our room most of our stay. Plasma televisions include premium satellite channels did not work. We called to ask about the the satellite channels and they said they did not have any. We could not hear any movies through the system and my husband and I shared one plug in ear buds (one in each ear). They management said they would fix this, but never did. Also, one blind was missing […] which we also addressed with management and they said it would be addressed which never was. We ended up hanging bath towels in the window with clothes pins so people could not look in off the street. Read more

The good and bad thing about this place is its location. During the day you are close to everything there is to see in downtown Reykjavik. Good restaurants, stores and attractions. The room is ok. It's clean but decorated in a funky way. The bed was very comfortable. The problem was with the bathroom and its glass doors facing the bed. No privacy at […] all when using it unless you ask your partner to stay put in the living room. At night, around 12:30am, a loud crowd of young locals line-up under the windows waiting to get into this nightclub which seems to be very popular. The noise is loud untill 4:30am when the club closes and for 30mins after that everyone is still hanging out on the street, drunk and loud. I'm a heavy sleeper but the noise was so loud that I couldn't sleep throughout the night. The police didn't seem to care even when fights broke out. It's probably a cultural thing. If you go there to party I can't think of a better spot but if you're exploring the island during the day and trying to rest at night that's not for you. Read more

Location is excellent -- right near the heart of town! Having an apartment gave us more room than a hotel room and we were able to make our own breakfasts. There can be lots of noise on Friday and Saturday nights, but our room was quiet.

Great location right in heart of downtown, amazing value, awesome pebble stone bathroom, and very comfortable bed. Staff was very helpful. We stayed in an apartment 1 block away from the main hotel, and the staff walked us over, showed us around, and helped us with our return trip. Modern decor, would definitely stay again.

Great location! but: Internet did NOT WORK. There was no consistent hot water. Water fluctuated from really hot to cold and vise versa which was really annoying and uncomfortable in the shower. Lobby was under construction so it was a mess. They would nickel and dime you and every little thing.

Taking a family of four on vacation to a foreign country can be pretty expensive, so we opted to rent an apartment and ended up with Apartment K. They set us up with two apartments right on the main drag in Reykjavik. They're newly remodeled (gutted and rebuilt) Ikea-furnished, and we were surprised that they also came with coffee pads and tea bags. […] The staff called to see if we wanted to be on a super jeep tour and also made arrangements for our pickups by Reykjavik Excursions. It was nice to stay at Apartment K, very close from everywhere, in the middle of downtown, Reykjavik. The little issue is the noise in the neighborhood. Since the apartment is located in the middle of the downtown, close to bars and clubs, you can hear people partying all night until quite late at night, even up to 4 in the monring! The rooms were disappointing in that the door knobs fell off, the glass door into one of the bathrooms was broken and you could see into both bathrooms as there was no curtains. The best thing about Apartment K is the location. It is within walking distance to the downtown center of Reykjavik and right beside the tourist information center. The staff was very helpful and able to answer all of our questions.

It was right in the centre. Apartment K staff are really nice and they are helpful. We arranged the taxi to pick us up from the airport and that was the right idea since we got there around midnight. The driver drop us off at the place we stayed. Very simple cool apartment. We loved it.

First off, this hotel has some of the coolest decor I have ever seen. They really do make you feel like you're staying in your own apartment rather than a standard hotel. My phone wasn't working and neither was my free wi-fi nearly my entire stay, nor was there any wake-up calls or a working alarm clock. Also, you really don't know where to go when getting picked up for a tour since again, there is no front desk. And, while I had enough towels for my 3-night stay, my room was never cleaned once. Our room/suite was small yet modern and cozy. The lobby of Apartment K was being renovated during our stay, so it was a bit dusty. It was nice to have a kitchen for breakfast, and there was even a washer/dryer even though they advertised as not having one. Also, there is an elevator, but 3 steps up to it. A nice added bonus. Don't expect daily maid […] service though, know you are renting an apt with the bonus of a staff on call. The very modern stone bathroom was pretty, but with a partial wall difficult not to soak the bathroom, and there was no drain except in the shower as we quickly found out. They were very quick to make any adjustments/fixes. The bed was comfortable, but the apt wasn't quite big enough to fit a pack and play without rearranging the entire apt or loosing a hallway. Also beware of the heaters, they get hot! Good to know if you're traveling with little ones. Iceland is supremely child friendly otherwise! The staff were very accommodating, had cars for rent, made great recommendations, called for cabs, etc and our apt was very close to the tourist info to book tours as well. Read more

If you want a wet shower and want the water to hang around so you can swim in it, this is the place to rent. The draining system is horrible and the washer and dryer was an all day adventure. Staying at apartment K was definitely one of the highlights of our trip! We had asked for a studio apartment, but got upgraded to a 1br right in the middle of the old square. Literally by the tourist information office. The apartment was so great becuase we were able to get some grocieries and make breakfast everyday, and also come home for short little […] breaks during our sightseeing, while still having access to the entire city. I don't think we could have done so much in rejkyavik or iceland if it was a different hotel. We had booked a few days in another hotel (during this trip) but as soon as we got to our apartment, we called and cancelled the other hotel and extended our stay at apartment k. This place is cool and could be great but it fails in a couple of key ways. The apartment was a really good size and was well equipped but the details were not great. The bed sheets may have been clean but they were stained. The shower had the last guests soap and towel still in it, a couple of lights didnt work and the wifi didn't work. Great location. Very nice and helpful staff. Nice apartment. Only thing I would recommend is adding frosted glass to the bathroom doors. Bathroom "doors" were sliding clear glass (that did not close completely). You could be sitting in the living room and look right into the bathroom. Very strange design idea.

I'm very easy going but this hotel was the worst I have stayed at for the price. First, the "apartment" is not in the location stated. It is several blocks away. It is nothing like the pictures. I cannot say enough good things about the staff. Ollie drove my sisters and I to the geothermal pool because the buses weren't running due to a holiday. That was incredibly nice. But the apartment itself, and they will vary, was way too noisy, due to bars all around. We walked across the street to centerhotel where the hotelkeeper was so nice and offered us a free breakfast and called the apt K owner to get up there. Once in there was no apology from Cathy(the manager).
