Boathotel Fortuna - Budapest

Staying on a boat was a very cool and unique experience. The room was clean and the breakfast was nice so generally speaking it was a nice visit. The people who worked the front desk were nicer during the day though the evening workers didn't seem particularly enthralled with their job. Honestly, the worst part was that the internet, which is supposed […] to be included and I would therefore assume functional, would not work at all in our room. We were staying on the lowest "floor" and could get zero reception. Since there is no common sitting area we ended up sitting at the top of the stairs to the next floor in the little hallway by a common bathroom. I did appreciate the location as it forced us to walk next to the river constantly which is lovely and is only about a 5 min walk from the public transportation. Read more

Great! But wish we had a river-facing room. Walking area all round made it possible to view the river anytime, however. Night view of boats on river was fantastic. Early morning light on castle was super. We'd stay again.

The hotel overlooks the Margit Sziget on the Pest side of Buda. It is walking distance to the Nyugati Rail Station. The area surrounding the hotel is a business and residential neighborhood that is safe to walk. But you must cross the Dunapart motorway. One reminder, though it should seem obvious, you are on a boat and as such the first floor overhead […] / ceiling is low. The windows do not open and the bathrooms are classicly marine. The bathroom area is small. The sink is small and the shower drains directly into the floor with no capture pan keeping the bathroom floor dry. The hotel is simple, but make sure that you are on the top floor. Sleeping on the river and in a boat is a nice little, quaint idea. Location is good for those who like to walk. Marguerite (sp.) Island is a very short walk away and the boat is docked across from the island. Breakfast was very good in comparison to other hotels.

Boathotel Fortuna is a great place to stay. First, the room was nice and had everything you could need (we stayed in the hotel part not the hostel part). Second, breakfast and the restaurant are perfect, especially if you eat dinner on deck because you can see the skyline of the city which is beautiful at night (but only possible during the warmer months). […] Third, the rates were great and it is in walking distance to most things and since it's on the river bank you can't really get lost. All in all, it was everything one could need for a nice stay in Budapest. We loved staying on the Boathotel eventhough it's getting on in age. We found the shower did not drain well and had to use towels to keep the floor dry. The location is great, just a walk along the River to the city. Good breakfast.

The room we had was not really comfortable and the receptionist refused to give us a double room instead of the twin room we had, whereas I booked a double room! Besides we had the chance to have the smell of breakfast inside our bedroom...

Unfortunately we had a group of teenagers who sat on deck outside our room getting louder as the night went on until midnight when they came in and proceeded to stomp up and down the corridors til 1am. We checked out early and into another hotel after the adjacent room took a half hour shower, starting at 1am, the final straw.

The hotel was excellent value for money (booked as a last second deal). The breakfast served was one of the best we ever had in a hotel. The staff aren't overly friendly or helpful though. Particularly in the restaurant. Great location for central stay.

Basic but clean boat hotel. Room was small but clean. Bathroom was also small but functional. Shower was powerful and plenty of hot water. Twin roomed, beds were narrow. I think this hotel is very nice. The rooms are sweet and you have everything you need. The restaurant is good, but there are other restaurants close that are more typical hungarian. The only thing I can say something negative about is maybe the shower. But it wasn't bad eighter.

The Boathotel Fortuna in Budapest is charming and excellent value for money, but it has two drawbacks that should be considered in making the choice. The location on a boat anchored in the Danube creates a charming delightful atmosphere. The second level deck goes around all of the boat with tables and chairs to absorb the atmosphere. Dinner, which was excellent, is enjoyed in the breezes looking at other boats, mostly cruise boats, going up and down the Danube, and looking across the river at the green hills of the Buda side. The rooms are clean and comfortable; more than adequate, although the bathroom is very basic. The two drawbacks: because this is a boat there is no elevator and the stairs to the second level are narrow and steep. It can be a challenge with luggage, especially for persons who have some limited mobility with the joints. Second, because this is a boat in the river, there is no other commercial activity in the immediate vicinity. It is possible, so I was told, to walk a short distance and take a tram into the city center. In general, I highly recommend this hotel and I will gladly return next time I am in Budapest. Ylitti odotukset. Hotelli oli hyvin halpa, joten olimme varautuneet negatiivisiin yllätyksiin. Kaikki kuitenkin toimi hyvin. Aamiainen oli juuri sitä, mitä matkamies toivoo: pekonia ja munia eri juustoja/makkaroita hetelmiä ja kahvia rajoituksetta unohtamatta vahvaa maksapateeta. Ravintola lordi nelsonissa erinomainen grillilautanen kahdelle piti sisällän […] vähän kaikkea mahdollista, suosittelen sudennälkäisille. Trotz der mehr als 12Std.-Verspätung wurden wir 5 Min. vor 24.00 Uhr noch sehr freundlich aufgenommen. Die Damen und Herren an der Rezeption waren sehr behilflich. Das Frühstücksbüfett war sehr gut und auch das Essen im Restaurant.

Hotellet var ett enkelt men trevligt nöje. Läget var perfekt nära restauranger och nöjen på Pest-sidan. Det var lätt att ta sig över till Buda på bron vid båten där många av sevärdheterna finns.. Det mesta finns på promenadavstånd. Rummen var enkla men hade alla bekvämligheter. Saknade dock schampo/balsam. Frukosten var mycket bra. Kamer erg klein, 2,25x2,5 meter inc. wastafel. Overal zat spinnenrag, Vloer was vies, kas viel uit elkaar. Er was geen bed aanwezig, maar een soort bank die als bed wordt gebruikt. Dus je slaapt als het ware op een plank (zie foto's) De douches waren vreselijk en ontzettend smerig. De douches hadden geen deurtjes, alleen een stukje plastic. Iedereen […] die naar het toilet moest, kon je in je adams- of eva kostuum zien staan. De douchekop blijft niet recht opstaan, dus je moet de kop in de hand houden. het enige wat wel goed was, was het ontbijt. zeer uitgebreid en vers. Een aanrader is ook om te eten in het hotel (diner). Het personeel daar is ook niet al te vriendelijk, zeker de oude man niet. ドナウ川の真上にあります。最寄駅のLeher Ter駅（Metro青(３号)線）からは徒歩２０分とやや遠いです。トラムの駅も使えると思いますが、Lehel Ter駅からの方が近い印象があります。行き方がちょっと大変ですが道はWest End mallを背に右折してまっすぐなので基本的には簡単です。ホテルは朝食もついて、川の眺めを見ながらゆっくりと寝れるのでとても快適、早く寝たい場合は観光の船が多くて気になるかも。あと駅周辺の治安は△なので、夜遅く出歩くのはおすすめしません。

Abbastanza suggestivo dormire su una barca ma solo se hai la stanza vista fiume. La pulizia è decente. La posizione non è comodissima, bisogna camminare un po' per raggiungere la metro. La colazione è abbondante (a buffet) ma pessima per le abitudini italiane.

Central beliggenhed, tæt på centrum, parlamentet m.m. Der var god morgenmad på hotellet og man spiste godt i den tilhørende restaurent, men servicen i restaurenten var under al kritik (en sur tjener, der absulut helst havde været fri for vores besøg). Værelset var meget lille, men med en god seng og udsigten var fantastisk.
