La Quinta Inn & Suites Fresno Northwest - Fresno

My wife & I enjoyed a two night stay at La Quinta. I would rate the value, which isn't listed in the ratings category as a "5" -- very satisfied. My only suggestion would be some way to modulate the fan ... it's either on or off and when on, is rather loud.

Hotel is relatively new. All nice furnishings. Found two small pieces of what looked like snack chips on the sheets when we turned down the bed. Further inspection of the bedding seemed ok, so didn't insist on changing the bedding or changing the room. Overall we really liked the hotel. Strange location - kind of in a field, but it was vert quiet and away from the freeway which was really nice. Front desk was a bit rude to a friend who came to pick me up. I asked him to come up to the room since I wasn't ready yet. The girl at the front desk stopped talking to the couple that were checking in and yelled to my friend asking if he was a guest, he responded that he was not but his friend was. In front of the couple and line behind him she asked […] for the guests full name and room number. I understand that's it's part of the policy but I felt very embarrassed for my friend, he said she made him feel as if he was a John. Maybe this is a issue here. I understand the area is a little rough around us and safety is a issue but I feel there could of been a more polite way to do this. Don't stay here unless you can afford for this hotel to hold over $100 from you for 1-2 weeks. The stay was good despite a clinch in the beginning with the front desk giving me a room that was not cleaned. The front desk person was so nice and apologetic. But when I got home from my 2 day stay I found that there was an additional $139 charge from them. […] I had booked online thru Hotels.com and was told my card would not be charged it was just for any incidentals when I gave it to them upon check-in. They did charge me WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION, and when I called it was because its a debit credit card I gave them and it will not be given back to me for 1-2 weeks. I was told all hotels do this which is not true. I'm not sure what their game is but I will be sending this complaint to their General Mgr also and will not stay here in the future. Read more

I would be very aware that when they ask for your credit card for incidentals, they lock up funds on your card to the amount of all rooms for days after your stay!!! We were not told this, and even though our rooms for a group (4 rooms for 3 nights) were paid 3 months in advance by a company card, my personal card was held hostage for about $1000 until […] 3 days after we checked out. If a large group rented say 10 rooms for a week, plan on about $6500 being tied up on your card (in the name of incidentals only) for 2-3 days after your stay. What a headache! Read more

I am surprised that the reviews for this hotel are not better. I am a frequent traveler and as a woman who travels alone quite a bit, I am very fussy about where I stay. The rooms are clean, there is a small fitness room, they have a nice breakfast spread included with the room rate. Reported defective plug in bathroom, asked by motel staff to change rooms, changed to another room. Reported light out in bathroom in new room, asked by motel staff to change rooms again , declined . Had to extend stay due to family emergency, asked if I could use a computer, denied, asked if motel staff would reserve a room. I was told I would have […] to change rooms as no kings were available only rooms with two queen beds available. I was given a higher rate then weekend rate. When I went down to the desk to change rooms I was given back the first room with a king sized bed. My wife and I are seniors with some mobility problems, forcing us to change rooms twice to avoid fixing a light bulb, or replacing a GFI plug over the weekend was very inconvenient. To lie and say we had to change rooms because all king bed rooms were booked then move us back to the first king room that we were moved from was a slap in the face. My wife and I will not return to that motel chain under any circumstance. The facility was nice and had Laundry room for guests, pool,, exercise room, iron and board, hair dryer, kleenex (ran out twice),and free newspapers. The facility was one of the best, but the lack of available maintenance on weekend and the practice of moving guests from room to room for motel staff convenience is intolerable. Read more

the desk clerk was very helpful and courteous. The room was very clean and beautiful, for the price. When I went to the desk to check out the next morning, the hotel clerk that was on duty at that time, was busy having coffee in the breakfast lounge. She did apologize for not seeing me and then attended by checking on the status of my check out.

The actual hotel is very nice. Location to Highway 99 is awesome. The room was comfortable. The problems we encountered were in the maintenance of the physical plant (our room had burnt out lightbulbs that we mentioned during our first day there) and the breakfast meal. With regard to the breakfast, a very nice woman was making the waffles (only one waffle iron for a roomful of travelers), re-stocking the food, cleaning up the lobby and many other durites. My wife and I were in Fresno just for the Saturday night... Nice new hotel in a decent area, right off the 99 freeway. Very quiet except for the occasional nearby train going by, more soothing to us than noise. Good hotel clientele with late model vehicles. Don't forget you swim suit as we did, nobody was using the pool or hot tub. Lots of fast food […] restaurants right around the corner half mile away. Downtown Fresno is five miles away or so. I have used this hotel on several ocasion for it's location and how cleanliness. However, on this last ocasion that i used this hotel I left behind my camera/camcorder in the room. I didn't watch close enough and made my reservation at the wrong LaQuinta. This is not a nice area of town at all. The bathroom fan was noisy and there was no way to shut it off. Clerk moved me to another room and it had the same issue. Asked for a quiet room and two trains and lots of trucks went by in the night. Out of orange juice for breakfast. […] Sausages cold. The one and only complaint that I have on this hotel is that their refrigerator was not as cold as I would of liked it to be. The best thing I liked about it is that the entire hotel is non-smoking. Overall it was very clean, quiet and comfortable. Will most definitely stay again.
