Auberge du Pêcheur - Sint-Martens-Latem

We were warmly welcomed by very friendly, efficient, English speaking reception staff. Each receptionist we met during our stay was delightful. Our room was as described on the internet. It was across a very busy lane from the main building in a quiet building called Latem House. We had a large comfortable bed, in a large convenient room with lots of […] windows and natural light. The bathroom was also very large and modern with luxury bath and separate shower cubicle. It also had large windows and lots of natural light (a rarity in most hotels as most do not have windows in bathrooms) We ate dinner in the Bistro "The Green" on 2 evenings of our 4 nights' stay. The service was good as was the food. Breakfast was included and was the usual buffet breakfast fayre. All the staff were friendly and helpful with the exception of one female breakfast waitress, who clearly should not have been in the hospitality industry. As our room was a deluxe room, it would have been nice to have had towelling bath robes provided - we had one pair of towelling slippers. There was no 'fridge in the room and no tea or coffee making facilities. As we had to leave the building and cross the very busy (and dangerous) lane for a drink of any sort, these facilities would have been much appreciated. Neither was there a room safe. Umbrellas in the room to protect us while walking to the main building would have been very useful. Read more

Absolutely dreadful. The hotel was not at all value for money. The room whilst advertised as 4 Star did not reach expectations and came in as a lower three star, being dark, small and lacking in furniture and amenities. The remainder of the hotel was emplty and with a very cold atmosphere and the chap cleaning the patio area below our window at 7:30am […] did not go down well. Hotel staff were most helpful and attentive .Room was fine with view of river and countryside .We ate in the Brasserie and had the Relax menu. Food was excellent and good value for the quality.The only downside was the weather.

The secret is out what a gem this hotel is. Situated 20 mins from central Gent city ~ but you will need a car. We went for a walk around the hotel the day we arrived as its situated in a beautiful village. The hotel is on a river bank, very peacefull, it had super rooms very clean and the restaurant had excelent menu although we didnt eat there due […] to other commitments, we did have a very nice buffet breakfast. Only negative I can say is you have to cross a busy country road to get to some of the rooms, it's on sharp bend and the traffic is difficult to see, not easy for disabled or pushchairs or young children- Hotel is Definately worth booking. zonder vragen gratis upgrade gekregen naar grotere kamer. gewone kamers leken wel nogal klein. ontbijt was heel lekker. Normale kamerprijzen zijn nogal aan hoge kant. Maar ons hoor je nu niet klagen

Everything was good, but the room was little bit too small, and the elevator was extremely small, had to carry our luguage up and down the stairs. Breakfast , excellent. We recommend this beautiful hotel.
