"My husband and I loved it!"
My husband is very critical of all-inclusive resorts but he absolutely love this one The staff was very hospitable. Food was surprisingly very good. Would absolutly go back. The Spa was amazing. very relaxing.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, good beach, terrible food options"
We stayed for 5 nights on in the all-inclusive plan. The room, the beach and the pools were all very nice. We were very disappointed with the food options for the all-inclusive. There is only one main dining area that offers a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with some a la carte options also. We had some basic dishes that were not good at all: their […] hamburgers are worse than you would get as a bad school dinner, cheese pizza was worse than the cheapest frozen pizza I've ever had, pasta with tomato sauce contained a few strands of pasta swimming in a red colored liquid, their lunch stuffed chicken special tasted good but the chicken was rock hard and had the consistency of cardboard. We got tacos from the poolside bar and the steak and chicken were barely seasoned and tasted like it was frozen. The only other restaurant on the property requires reservations and requires and additional cost, which defeats the purpose of all-inclusive. If eating consistently decent/edible food is a high priority, I suggest you stay away. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"beautiful hotel, great view, excellent staff"
My husband and I took our 9 year old son, our daughter celebrated her 18th birthday, and we took her 18 year old boyfriend. Resort was beautiful. Victor at the swim up bar was AWWWEESSOOMME! Eddie and Alexander at the front desk were VEErRy helpful, we had some issues, they were very compassionate, patient, and extremely helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
Doing the all inclusive at a time share resort is kind of weird, the whole bracelets while still having to wait for a check is weird but it worked out fine Los moreles for dinner is a must.... la palapa sucked, only good for breakfast. Staff was excellent every where but la palapa.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Needs more dining choices"
The resort is beautiful, staff is friendly, rooms are clean. This is an all inclusive resort and they only have 2 restaurants, 1 is totally seafood, the service is a bit slow. The beach service is also a bit slow.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The rooms are fantastic great quality. The facilities are breathtaking. The best thing about the hotel is that it a good size hotel not as big and not as small. It is a very relaxing experience, the food and the service are great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel on the beach"
My husband and I really enjoyed this hotel for 4 nights. Not sure if I would recommend it if staying longer as there were only a few restaurants. However, the grounds were beautiful, well maintained, the pools were great as was the beach! The staff was friendly and would highly recommend the spa services!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Beautiful beach & hotel & 5 minutes from Playa"
Beautiful property! Food was good. We asked to be moved to a room with a view of ocean as we we're on ground floor near the back of the property. We we're told that "the resort caters to members first" meaning time share members. Eventually we agreed to attend a "presentation" and we we're moved to a second floor room with a partial ocean view. We did […] not purchase at the presentation, but you should not have to bargain for a better view. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great with kids"
After reading all the wonderful reviews, I could wait to find out for myself. The resort was super clean and the staff were wonderful. Food was good. Beds were very comfortable. The one thing I didnt like was always needing my room key for everything . I had to wear a bracelet because we went All Inclusive so why did I need my room card too? Drinks […] were good but weak. It was very quiet at night, which I found to be enjoyable. After the pool bar closed at six the resort turned into a ghost town. Over all I would say I got a 5 star resort for the price of a 3 star resort. Win Win!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We just returned from a week at this beautiful all-inclusive. Very pleased with the hotel and service. Everything looks new and very clean. Only suggestion would be another restaurant would be nice for dinner. Only 2 options for dinner and one required reservations which were difficult to get if you weren't an owner.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great place for a family get away!"
The property is beautiful and has spacious room. We got the meal plan this year and it was great. The food is buffet or al a carte and is very good. It also includes 24 hour room service. Our room had a full kitchen but the meal plan we didn't use it once. The pools are very nice and it is easy to locate chairs near the water at both. There are also […] 2 lap pools available. The beach is very nice and has soft sand. The only issue is the wind was up for several days and the water could get a little choppy but still with only small surf. Once issue I thought could be improved was the closing of the pool bar and restaurant at 5 pm. This is the only water based place to have a before dinner drink outside and it close so early. There is a bar inside but 5 pm is such a beautiful time outside as the sun sets and the temp cools, ocean calms. I suggest keeping at least the bar open for drinks until 7 pm. This resort get very quiet at night as most return to their rooms when the pool bars close. We ventured out to the pools for an evening swim and were the only people there at 8 pm. "Beautiful hotel but a little boring"
We had a great stay. The hotel is beautiful hotel and they pay so smch attention to people's comfort. Positives: very clean, suites are very large with a hot tub on the balcony, great kids club, beautiful and big beach, good food, not super crowded so there were always empty chairs around the pool. Negatives: nothing to do in the evenings; only one […] restaurant (the buffet) for dinner; the pain of getting reservations at the a la carte restaurant, even though they always seemed to have empty tables; mostly older people and not enough younger families with kids; needing your room key to order anything on the all inclusive plan. 5th Avenue is a lot of fun at night! Highly recommended. Oh and the internet connection in the room was not that bad, specially in the evenings. Our room was close to the lobby, which might have helped. "NOT an All-Inclusive Experience; Disappointment"
If you are expecting to have an All-Inclusive hotel experience, this is NOT the hotel for you. To give a balanced review, I'll list my PROs first: - Very clean property - Beautiful beach - No bugs - Aerobics instructors = great! The CONs: - While you don't have to actually pay for food and beverage each time, you DO have to give them your card and […] sign a bill each time. In my other all-inclusive stays (Club Med, Beaches and Couples), its SO nice to be able to have this easy flow which is missed here. - There are only 2 dinner restaurants: the Palapa and the fancier restaurant. If you are all-inclusive its near impossible to get into the fancy restaurant and in fact, we never did. However, whenever we walked past it during dinner hours, it was half or less than half empty. My hypothesis is: 1) its fancy and thus the food is more expensive. They don't want to give the expensive food to the all-inclusive guests...only allow those paying off menu prices there 2) they also don't like kids in that restaurant. 3. The front desk people and managers all kept saying that all-inclusive is 'new' and they are just trying it out. However, on TripAdviser, they had an award for all-inclusive family resort. Therefore, it leads me to believe they committed fraud by having staff post reviews. 4. The place to do aerobics is depressing - down in the basement that doubles as the kids room. There are no windows. 6. There are no tennis clinics during the wk 7. They want to sell you a time share Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Spring Break for our family."
The resort is beautiful and very clean. Like so many of the other reviews that we read prior to staying here had noted, the only negatives are that there are really only two restaurants not counting the two poolside lunch spots, and the nicer of the two we were only able to get into for one dinner the week we were there (which was very good), and the […] WI-FI connection is spotty at best. We enjoyed our two bedroom suite, the pools, the beach and the entire staff was very friendly and helpful!! We did the zip lining trip to Selvatica, and really enjoyed it. Careful if you purchase the picture book with the 25 "best pictures", because you don't choose the pictures to put into the book, they do. The ones they chose were not the ones that we would have liked. Thankfully, we did receive a CD disk with all of the pictures that they took as part of the package that we had purchased. "Wonderful time but please figure it out!"
Dear Royal Hacienda Managers: Lodging, food, safety, amenities and location are all a 10! Please consider adjusting customer service and "all inclusive" policies for an A+++experience (see below). 1. Upon check-in, offer tired travelers a welcome beverage and hot towel. (good first impression and gives a little dose of what's to come) 2. Upgrade rooms […] with keyless access. 3. Print room #s on wrist bands. 4. No RECEIPTS for all-inclusive guests. Carrying/showing card keys every time you want something AND collecting printed receipts would be eliminated. Gratuities for all-inclusive guests are INCLUDED and when given a receipt with an empty TIP line, despite having '0' for the price, my husband and I constantly had this conversation at the end of the meal, "Should we tip? We already paid for it... But we got good service... How much to tip...?" IF those slips are absolutely necessary then why not simply state under the tip line, "Tips have been pre-paid for all-inclusive guests." Of course, we were happy to tip for the AMAZING services in Los Morales (had so many wonderful meals!), spa and dive services. We are not cheap people, but every time we did not tip, we FELT cheap. "All-inclusives" = "no worries" but we DID worry about card keys/receipts/tips. We want to return and enjoy our vacation just like our 10-yr-old son did --carefree, with every need catered to and provided for 100%. P.S. --loved your hotel guests! "Catering sucks and poor entertainment"
Pros: large pools, quiet, nice beach, always find a beach chair, clean spa Cons: poor selection for food, just one buffet and that only for breakfast, lunch buffett has very limited selection, even when you have booked all-inclusive you always have to wait to get a receipt and you need always show your room key, if you order on the beach a drink it […] can take a half our if you get something, there is not a buffet all time available, most the time you need to order and wait, if they don't forget your order the whole catering sucks really!! Not to compare with a regular all inclusive you might know. When you order from the menu, the food is good quality and tasty. there is no entertainment, no bar late night, no discothek they have a shuttle to Playa del Carmen but only few times a day and you need to reserve 24h in advance!! So you need to take a taxi for MN120-140 each way to get the town. Even if it is advertised a adult all-inclusive there a lot a children because a lot of time-share families use it for vacations. If you look for a quiet place to relaxe its ok If you look for good food, night-life and entertainment you better go somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Ready to return!"
My husband and I went for our honeymoon, with an all inclusive package. There was food available to order 24 hours a day which my husband especially loved. They had a breakfast and lunch buffet daily (in addition to ordering from the menu) which was nice for us as we both have food allergies. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There was a very […] nice fitness center that was also included which allowed us to get a workout in before laying and enjoying the beautiful beach! There were multiple pools, swim up bars, kid pools, hammocks, 4 whirlpools, and even a lap pool! In addition to the natural oceanside scenery and beach activities (snorkeling, scuba diving) the hotel had multiple activities such as zumba, outdoor water aerobics, water /beach volleyball and much more. Neither of us are night owls or much for going out to the clubs so this hotel was perfect for us. Despite live bands at the bar and restaurants, and other night activities available both on & off site, we could choose to go down to the whirlpool after dark and not be surrounded by annoying drunks. We will definitely return, and if we have a family one day we could bring our kids and be assured there would be plenty for them to do as well. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
""Great for everyone""
Excellent. Food, room, activities and service was great.Genuine Expedia guest review
Wonderful stay. Great pools, beach. Kids really enjoyed the kids club on limited "sun exposure" days. With 2 families, we bought the all inclusive option which is really nice with 4 kids. However, since the "hotel" is really a timeshare property, the mix of non-inclusive/inclusive folks making ordering food/drinks as if you were non-inclusive a bit […] awkward with needing a roomkey with each order AND the pool attendant, pool bar, or snack bar keeping it with each tab. So if you need to go back to your room you have to retrieve a roomkey. We were initially under the assumption from Expedia site that beach activity stuff (kayaks, etc) was available, but had been discontinued. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The Royal Haciendas"
The hotel is A+, but we had to pay additional $570 to give us king size bed for a week, because the room that they originally try to give us had 2 full size beds in it. The service sucks we had to wait to get our food. My wife and I spent an hours waiting for our food at the restaurant during the dinner.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great all inclusive."
Watch the buffets - they can ruin the food experience by uncontrolled oversampling. If you are like me - order 2 drinks at a time on the beach- the timing works out perfect. What a great place- the Villa room is large and beautiful, staff was exceptional. The grounds were so big there was never a "fight for the chairs" - and the place was 95% full. "Great timeshare, but marginal for all-inclusive."
Beautiful resort, and very well kept, but if you are looking for all-inclusive, look somewhere else. This resort is designed for timeshare ownership, with fewer bars, restaurants and less nightly entertainment than you'd normally see at all-inclusive resorts. Even though we had all-inclusive wristbands, we still had to provide our room card and sign […] a receipt for every meal and drink... very inconvenient. We also found that the bars were all closed by 12:00 each night. If you like beer, the all-inclusive only covers tap beer, and there were only two kinds to choose from. "Beautifully kept; best for owners vs. all-inclusiv"
We did an all inclusive. This was the only downside because we were treated like 2nd class guests. The grounds and the staff were great. However, when it came to food options, being on the all-inclusive meant that we were not offered all of the options (despite being able to eat all of them), we were told that making reservations at both La Palapa del […] Sol and Los Murales was not possible, while other guests could. This just resulted in feeling uncomfortable because we were 2nd class guests. Also, if you are booking a Deluxe Junior Suite OceanView with Kitchenette - this means that you will be getting two double beds. No ifs, ands, or buts. This was a disappointment because it never said that on my reservation and since I was traveling as a couple, it was not ideal to stay in a double bed. The hotel would not change our room type, despite my explaining that it never listed the double bed room type. Also, the food quality was quite bad! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Ok if traveling alone"
The hotel was nice but I went for a three day weekend and after the two days they changed my room because the owners for that apt were coming for the week. "Great hotel if you are over 60 ! BORING..."
This is a beautiful resort, however very boring ! This is mainly a time share resort, so they want to pester you to buy in. But most importantly, there is no entertainment at this resort NONE ! After pool bars close at 6pm, this place completely dies. Lots and lots of senior citizens. Not for the younger crowd at all ! They only have one nice restaurant […] and the buffet is good but gets really old after the 2nd day, they don't switch it up at all like most all inclusives I have been to. For night life you will have to go into Playa or plan on being in bed by 9pm. The beach was pretty nice a little littered, they could spend some time out there raking the sand at night. Also if you buy the all inclusive it's not just a wrist band and you are good to go, you have a key card also that you have to use on EVERY purchase(drinks, food, and snacks) even though it's not actually charged to you, so that gets really annoying. Having to close out a $0.00 tab if you want to go from the beach to the pool area and so on and so forth really silly and very time consuming ! And also you have to give a credit card when you check in for any purchases made in the market, spa or surcharges on the stuff that's not included they will not take cash (except for a cash tip of course) also using that key card ! Like I said very nice place but we will not being going back to The Royal Haciendas next year... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Service, food and cleanliness were absolutely outstanding. We literally saw resort staff running with room service carts to ensure delivery of hot food. "A ROYAL HONEYMOON!"
We stayed here for our Honeymoon from 2/23-3/2 and it was wonderful! The grounds were extremely well kept, the beach was superb, the service was very attentive and every request was met with "It's my pleasure". The food was just fine and guests have access to several other resorts in Cancun for more dinng choices. A short cab ride to Playa del Carmen […] will also provide more dining and shopping choices. We spent alot of time at the swim up bar with the best bartenders, Carlos & Daniel. After a short visit to our room trying to get us to attend the time share presentation #which we declined# we were not bothered again. We chose the all-inclusive option and although it wasn't a true all-inclusive due to surcharges on certain meals and drinks #which I have not experienced with other all-inclusives#, it was still a great option for us. We did tip our servers and bartenders because we felt they were going above and beyond and this only made them give us the Royal treatment. A few American dollars go a long way. Our room was fantastic! Very spacious, consistently cleaned and organized. The beach was a little rocky but a short walk to the other side of the resort provided a great swimming area. Even though the pool bar closes at 6pm the party can be moved to the Rotunda bar where there is planned entertainment throughout the week. *IMPORTANT* If you are looking for a "party" resort full of Spring Breakers-THIS IS NOT IT! "Not A Real All-Inclusiev"
The Royal Haciendas is a time share resort that has only recently started offering an all-inclusive venue. Thus most of the incredibly positive reviews you see are from owners who like their resort and, I believe would want you to like it too. So read reviews accordingly. If you like the simplicity of all-inclusive you will probably be frustrated with […] the R.H. You must go through a waiter to get everything, even a drink of water. You will have to sign a check for your drink/food even though it is free; and you will be expected to leave a tip, just like all the other guests at the R.H. who have not paid for an all-inclusive vacation. The beach is beautiful but the resort itself is constructed in such a manner that it is quite noisey at night. Voices of a few teenagers on a balcony will echo throughout the complex quite easily and of course, the music played during the day does as well. The resort has only about 30 units that are truly ocean view/ocean front. The description associated with most rooms should be "ocean peak". There is one special dining option and it is very good, but diffucult to get reservations. And, you will be charged extra for many of the menu entries. Yes the free internet is terrible but there is supposedly a beter one for a fee. The rooms are very nice, the beds comfortable, and the staff fairly efficient. Although we truly loved the beach, we would not go back. They paved paradise and put up a tiled parking lot. Look at the pictures carefully. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Terrible experience! Would never, ever go back!!"
We went to mexico 4th time now, this time we went for my 50th birthday. What a terrible idea to go to this resort. Previously we have gone to: 1) Riu Las Americas, 2) Riu Riviera Maya, and 3) Playacar Palace for my daughters wedding. The experience at all of those resorts were exceptional. This place (ROYAL HACIENDAS) had such bad service that we barely […] ate there & kept going to downtown Playa Del Carmen to eat. This resort is a combination of timeshare and vacationers, which is a TERRIBLE IDEA. The staff does not treat you nicely, they roll their eyes at you, take their time, and do no value your time at all & the fact that you are there on a vacation and spend nearly $3,000 for a week. The buffet for breakfast and lunch are small, NOTHING compared to the resorts mentioned above. Nothing is fresh, we were in complete shock! At the other three resorts above we have huge breakfast. lunch, and dinner buffet that were incredible. The staff would treat you incredibly nice and just made your experience great. At Royal Haciendas the staff would take 20 minutes to get you a cup of coffee for breakfast. Did not have a variety of choices, very limited, and EVERY SINGLE TIME you wanted to eat you had to give them your name, your room #, and sign a receipt at the end of the meal. WHY? I AM HERE ON AN ALL INCLUSIVE VACATION. In addition, they did not have fruit anywhere. We actually had to go to the grocery store and buy apples and bananas for ourselves. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! So this hotel is great, best food for the price I've had. One big complant is the sell an deluxe ocean view. "Perfect place for families"
We traveled with our 2 children, ages 8 and 11 to the Royal Haciendas. The grounds were impeccably clean and manicured. The room was wonderful- especially the jacuzzi on the deck! Housekeeping did a great job keeping the room clean. Hotel was just minutes from downtown Playa del Carmen. We did not use the all-inclusive part, but we did order room service […] on night. The food was moderate to good, but the service was wonderful! The server set the table and put all our dishes out for us- very nice! The pool was great, the beach was nice, but while we were there the surf was a bit rough and we could not snorkel. The convenience store was well -stocked and reasonably priced. My only complaint was the wi-fi was very slow and they charged you for hi-speed. I also wished they had the kid's activities during the weekends. But all in all, I would say it is wonderful place for families. Quiet, did not see any rowdy or drunk party people. Was not harassed once for a time share speech. Loved it! Very nice experience overall. The staff was very nice and helpful. The food was fresh and plentiful. The beach was lovely and the location very convenient.
