they shifted our room to another hotel after our first night. We booked on hotels.com, then called them to tell them we'd be in for a late check in. They then told us they had no availability. They offered us one night and a hotel change for the next two nights. Emilia was a very clean hotel, but dated. Our room was on the small side, with a small bathroom, (legs under the sink if you sit on the toilet). The hotel they moved us to was great. They are under the same management, and it had more room, a pool, a better breakfast, and an the best hotel to ski lift shuttle I've ever seen. It was named Hotel Roteisi, or something similar. The shuttle driver ran every day from morning till 18:45. The longest we had to wait was 5 minutes, travel time to the area we skied was less than that, and typically it was just the two of us in the van. I'm sure Emilia had similar services, but I wouldn't know as they accepted our booking and then moved us to a nicer place.

Usually when we are looking at stars in hotels they mean luxuries. For us, Hotel Adler is filled with many luxuries. It’s a family run hotel (since the turn of the century) in northern Italy (near to Austria), whether you stay for a day or longer its secluded and the staff will help to get the most out of your stay. After our stay there we had reservations to Cortina d’Ampezzo , had I known how good it was staying at hotel Adler I would’ve just made it our base and driven to Cortina or continue to enjoy all the Dolomites have to offer. It is a very extensive area between Bolzano and the whole mountain range that you could miss without a proper guidance. As for skiing, there is plenty and the county has ski busses that stop right at the hotel’s front. I say if you are a traveler on a budget in search for an Austrian cottage hotel in Italy’s northern scenery look no further.

Perfect location for a friends ski trip to Cortina. Across the street from the bus-terminal, walking distance to lifts for one of the mountains, and right in the heart of the village shops and restaurants. Hotel had a beautiful view of the Dolomites. Service was on par with the rest of the region, in my experience. I would stay here again.

If you are looking for a small but special hotel this definitely is a choice. If you prefer big hotel chains and expect alike continue searching and you will miss an opportunity.
