Our stay was very enjoyable, staff was good, breakfast was fine- rooms were clean - overall a good place to stay.

The staff was exceptional, and the location was perfect...close enough to walk to shops but still away from all the bustle of town. Breakfast was excellent, reflecting much effort and pride. I would highly recommend the Maine Stay!

The Maine Stay Inn was absolutely lovely and breakfast was amazing. Judy & Walt are excellent innkeepers. The house was immaculate, located right in the heart of town so we were able to walk everywhere. We would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it. Of all the places we stayed along the coast of Maine, this was by far the best.

The owner and host of Maine Stay was so unpleasant and mean that it ruined our stay at the inn. My mom and I came in from Ogunquit, where we had a lovely suite, and arrived to Maine Stay between noon and 1 on check-in day. When we approached the desk, she yelled that she had just finished cooking brunch and that the rooms weren't cleaned and if we wanted […] a clean room we should come back later. Rather than simply say our room wasn't ready yet and lead us to town, she was angry that we had the nerve to show up at that hour. Other guests arrived at the same time and she was just as rude to them, leading them to look at us with eye rolls. The rest of her family was very pleasant and friendly and the porch was nice (good brunch too), but even when my mom and I checked in and decided to play Scrabble on the porch, she sat right next to us, eating her lunch, and went on to complain about the maintenance of the house and how expensive her daughter's tuition was going to be. We just avoided her the whole time we were there because she never became pleasant. My mom brought down the keys when we were leaving and the woman just grabbed them and didn't even say thank you (although my mom did). I would never stay here again or recommend this place. We had a late flight and inn called us and made arrangements for us to get into our room. We also had to leave early in the morning so they set out a cold breakfast for us to have when we got up. You wont find that just anywhere. Thanks for a nice weekend!

Awesome! The owners were so nice and made DELICIOUS breakfast each morning. The cottage immaculate, and the area was really beautiful. I'm sold on heading back even during the winter months for a getaway - especially with the comfortable couch and gas stove. It's one of the best places I've been and well worth the extra cash.

Found this place on line, never been to the area. Was very pleasantly surprised. Walt, Judy and the staff were very friendly and made us feel right at home. Breakfast was delicious, rooms were cozy, we both loved the fireplace. I wish it wasn't 2600 miles away.

We were happily surprised with the Maine Stay Inn and Cottages. It was over 100 degrees and the air conditioning in the room worked just fine. Our room was on the second floor and my husband had just had knee surgery. The owner, Judy, and two of her workers shouldered our bags and brought them upstairs for us. From the moment you enter the driveway to Maine Stay Inn and Cottages, you feel like you are home away from home. We stayed in Cottage #7 which was quiet and cozy. Just enough room for 2. Walter and Judy treated us like we were their only guests even though their 17 rooms/cottages were full to capacity. The breakfasts of baked eggs with ham and a fruit […] cup one morning, egg quiche with little link sausages and corn muffin the next and still yet poached eggs on french toast with bacon the next and again with a fruit cup. An endless cup of coffee and orange or cranberry juice topped the breakfast. Also each afternoon, tea and homemade cookies in the dining area of the home is available from 3-5. The Inn is a 5 minute walk to the shopping hub of Kennebunkport, so need to bring the car.The owners go above and beyond the call of duty. We will be staying there again! Read more

My wife and I had a room at the Inn while my wife's sister (and her husband) and brother (and his wife) had cottages. Once settled in the rooms, we went back to see Judy and Johanna who sat and talked us through all the ammenities of […] the Kennebunkport area. Any question we had was answered and any wish we had was met with a smile and desire to please. We felt very welcome. Our room at the Inn was very elegant; the cottages were very roomy and cozy with the fireplaces...a great place to gather for the after dinner bottle of wine. The Inn is a very short (4-5 blocks) from the downtown Kennebunkport shops and restaurants. My wife and I have stayed in many B&Bs and there is only one that compares to Maine Stay, and that one was in Italy. Judy/Walter/Johanna are hosts beyond excellent who want nothing less than your total satisfaction. Did I mention the breakfasts? They are an event in, and of themselves. Absolutely WONDERFUL! This was delightful accommodation with great attention taken to make guests feel comfortable, eg. Tea/coffee available 24 hrs a day, chocolates on the bed on arrival etc. the owners were extremely friendly and helpful with advice about the area. Excellent location and ambiance.

The Maine Stay Inn & Cottages is a lovely B&B in a great setting, very handy to everything that Kennebunkport has to offer. Our cottage was fantastic, the bed was luxurious and comfortable and the small kitchenette in our cottage was very useful. However two things marred our stay. One was when we asked if our 11 year old niece (who lives locally) could […] stay a night with our 9 year old daughter (her cousin) and we were told there would be a $35 charge for an additional person - an amount that we found astonishing given that we did not expect they would give her breakfast or that any additional service or linen would be required, but they would not budge on the $35 charge. Given what we were paying for the cottage, this just seemed miserly and mean. She was just curious about the hotel and loved the novelty of a 'sleepover' in our room. We could have just done it quietly, without asking permission, and the owners would never have known the difference. The second event that marred our stay was the freezing cold shower that I had to have one morning because, apparently, the people in the cabin next door had used up all the hot water! Really?? For people running such a serious business that they insist on charging $35 for a child to sleep over for one night, I would expect they would have a water heating system that would guarantee there was always enough hot water for all guests, no matter how long a shower the neighbours might have taken! ALL previous reviews i read praised this B & B and it really lived up to them> excellent accomodation and food with a very welcoming feel.with the proptietors thinking of evertything offering car park passes for beach with towels chairs and sunshades to light refreshments from 15.00 to 1700 each afternoon.
