Everything we expected and more! From reading reviews and looking through the photos we expected a luxury stay and we were not disappointed, it was perfect! From the staff to the room to the food, it was all amazing and certainly worth every penny! I can also highly reccomend a visit to the spa :)Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed at this hotel, and what a fantastic experience it was. From the moment of arrival, the staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. The grounds and amenities were excellent, spent several hours just walking the grounds looking at the herds of deer, the Falconry centre, and the various lakes. Can not praise the whole package […] offered enough. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"old world charm"
From the minute you drive through the gates you feel it is going to be a unique experience. It is a lovely building and it is old with antiques. Grounds are beautiful with the deer. We had dinner and it was excellent, staff were all very friendly which made you comfortable as some of these high class places can be a bit toffee nosed and a bit off putting […] but you didn't feel like that here. Restaurant manager was very fussy so standards were high and he catered for your every need above and beyond. It is expensive so it isn't a everyday hotel but it is worth spoiling yourselves now and then. I think children are accepted but I personally wouldn't take mine as I think they would get bored and feel uncomfortable in the restaurant. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Swinton Park Castle Hotel"
First off I have to admit we booked this hotel through Expedia at a astonishing low price, so my review has to be based mostly on that fact. Swinton Park is impressive as you drive through the gates and up to the entrance, where the concierge will take your bags for you while you park. We had a easy check in and were shown to our rooms, we had 4 of […] the Dukes bedrooms, each equally impressive, very large, and fantastically equipped ( I mean complimentary whiskey!). There are some tiny issues with both room and general hotel areas that could be addressed regarding décor, but as with any hotel of this size it must be in constant maintenance. The grounds are beautiful and a pleasant walk, we also enjoyed our Bird of Prey experience and Spa treatments booked via the hotel. Breakfast was good, a wide choice of cereals, pastries, jams, fruit etc plus the cooked breakfast (vegetarian option was very good), all served in the impressive dining room by attentive staff. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Swinton Park hotel, although we must admit if we had to pay full price it might have been a tad on the expensive side. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Luxury hotel with great service"
Its a great stay with no fault. The location is just nice for a retreat and if it gets bored, you can easily drive 5mins downhill to grab a bite or some shops. The hotel service is excellent and we slept well in the room. Its a dream come true for staying in a castle. Highly recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a lovely hotel in a very nice place in north Yorkshire. Everything was great and lots to do and see. One minor comment, breakfast servings were not as efficient as dinner.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Oh my goodness AMAZING"
Wow, the most amazing experience ever. Surroundings are breathtaking rooms spacious and luxurious everything was just perfect. Staff couldn't do enough for you and the little touches were very special. Would go back in a heat beat, best hotel stay I have ever experienced.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Genuine Expedia guest review
"Relaxed Luxury! Perfect Every Time"

Having stayed at "the castle" on previous occasions my girlfriend and I decided to take my parents for a couple of nights as a belated Xmas present. There are other hotels we know they'd love but, they aren't "the castle". We decided to stay in the Castle Howard and Bradford rooms which we knew have excellent views over the dear park. We took dinner one night in Samuel's which was excellent as ever. Yes it is fine dining. Yes it looks like you have little on the plate but, we have never ever left the restaurant hungry. And this occasion was no different. Every mouthful was just an explosion of flavour. The chefs aren't chefs they are magicians. And that brings me onto what makes this hotel so special. The staff and the service they provide. Every single member of staff is so friendly and professional. The housekeepers are the unsung heroes who go about their job quietly and diligently and always have a smile on their faces and a friendly "hello". From the moment you arrive ALL the staff make you feel at ease and make you feel like you truly are a Lord and Lady. This time we noticed a few new faces but, as expected, they were all still really friendly and catered for every whim. A special mention must go to Joel and his colleague (keri?) on reception on this visit. They both dealt with all our requests in an efficient, polite manner which just made our stay perfect (it's always the little touches that make the difference between very good and excellent). Did my parents enjoy their stay? Absolutely. Their only regret was they wished they'd visited years ago! PS Just read the review from Emarrison and "stingy black pudding" gate. That's so funny because we also commented on where the other half of the black pudding was? No idea why they do that but we found it highly amusing. Despite the "missing" black pudding, the breakfasts are delicious. Tom if you read this review, please keep up your excellent work and pass on our heartfelt thanks to your amazing team. On departure we were so sad to be leaving we decided to book for another week in September! You may wish to warn the staff! lol
"Short stay, short review, pleasantly pleased"

Well! Just got back after a one night stay. Not disappointed. Stayed in Bolton Castle. Seriously good sleep. Newly refurbished bathroom. Couldn't fault the room. Pleasant welcome at reception and then escorted to our room by Josh who couldn't have been more informative or friendly. The rest of the staff we encountered were great, friendly, attentive and professional. The setting is excellent. Though a bit boggy in places when we stayed. In the spirit of trying to find a fault for some reason there were cobwebs on the hall table. Possibly of more concern to me . The beef served at dinner was beautifully tasty but a bit on the tough side and the breakfast, bit stingy on the black pudding! This could be a hanging offence !

My wife and I spent an afternoon at Swinton for our anniversary. We had a massage followed by lunch and all was made clear that we could take things at our pace. When you know hotels, restaurants and spas work on fairly rigid turn arounds, this always impresses me, that a place can have the style to help you feel that you are not rushed. Of course it's a little illusion but not one that many places pull off, and it does put you at ease. All the services we used were really nice and the food excellent. I'd been told the portions were stingy but I think they were spot on and just a sensible serving in an age of too much. All in all, well done and thanks for a lovely afternoon.
"Lunch and "Owl Experience" - a fantastic day out!"
02/21/15 Kirsty H Aberdeen
Just returned home from a lovely day at Swinton Park. We started with a 2-course lunch from Samuel's menu. The quality of the food was unbeatable. We were given an amuse bouche of potato, onion and cheese spumante with warm sourdough bread and crispy pancetta. We had a lovely pork dish for the main, and Yorkshire parkin with banana ice cream and ginger sorbet for dessert. All the food was top-notch and very very delicious. The dining room is magnificent and the waiting staff were attentive and friendly. We paid £22 for 2 courses, which we all felt was fantastic value for the lovely food we enjoyed. After lunch we met Sophie at the aviary who introduced my Mum, Dad and myself to 7 beautiful birds; listing interesting facts and stories about their personalities. As this was a private session (bookable through their website), we had Sophie to ourselves and she was very happy to share her passion with us, and to teach us the basics of falconry. We each got the chance to fly 4 of the birds for up to 15 minutes, increasing in size from the long-eared owl to a HUGE eagle owl, feeding them treats and enjoying the beautiful grounds at the same time. We spent over 1.5 hours with Sophie's undivided attention and felt very privileged to encounter at such close quarters these incredible birds. Truly one of the best experiences: we were all blown away and the visit far exceeded all our expectations. My Dad is an artist and was able to take some lovely, detailed photos of all of the birds which he will be able to paint later. We enjoyed a pot of tea and some delicious petit fours in the cosy drawing room afterwards. What a brilliant way to spend a Saturday afternoon!

A luxury castle hotel set in 200 acres of parkland in the Yorkshire Dales, a mile out of Masham.. My wife and I were bought a one night bed and breakfast stay (£124 Groupon) on the occasion of my 75th birthday. If you have wanted to live a Downton Abbey life style, be it for 24 hours, then the Swinton Park Hotel is the place for you. The public rooms, furnished with family portraits and antiques, together with the dining room would grace any stately home. Should you travel by car, you will be met at the entrance, and escorted to reception. Following reception, you will be shown the hotel's public rooms, take in the 'boot room' with its array of sporting equipment, including fishing rods etc., and bad weather gear, free to hotel guests, before being shown to your comfortable bedroom. Meanwhile, your car will be driven from the main door to the carpark, a distance of thirty to forty yards, sorry metres! Unfortunaely for us, the evening dinner at £55.00 per head could not be justified. We therefore drove the one mile into Masham, before heading into the Bay Horse Public House, the subject of a separate review. The following day, after a good nights sleep and hearty breakfast, my wife and I headed to the Black Sheep Brewery. Again, the subject of a separate review.
"Absolutely fantastic "

I loved this place from beginning to end. It's beautiful inside and out. This staff are friendly, professional and not in your face. We had the Richmond Suite which had lovely views on the gate one side and deer park the other. The bed is so comfortable and the pillows to die for. The shower was just fantastic and we loved all the bath products. The biscuits were delicious and the complimentary gin and whiskey were welcomed. We had dinner that night at the restaurant and the food was divine. The following morning we went clay pigeon shooting then golfing. No time to try spa or birds of prey. This place is a must revisit. Love it. Think our wedding may have to be here!

I would highly recommend going to Swinton Park hotel, the service was fantastic as they were so friendly and welcoming. I had the most amazing birthday there, and the food was to such a high quality. Overall I couldn't fault my time at this wonderful, charismatic castle.
"Quality as standard."

This is our second visit. We took advantage of a seven course meal taster package which included cream tea on arrival, one hour in the spa, champagne before dinner and of course the quality staff and rooms as standard. We were given a half bottle of champagne as returning Swinton Club members. The taster menu was outstanding. The chef produced the most amazing food with wonderful matching wines. Every course was beautifully prepared and obviously hours of time have been spent slaving over this well thought out menu. We have eaten in at a top restaurant in Oslo and had a similar taster menu and this outstripped it. We actually had 10 course in completion with added extras for us to try. The dinning room is romantic and intimate and the staff attentive. Well done Swinton Park. TOP TIP:- if you want a room with a view don't forget to ask when you book.

We only stayed one night but wished we could have stayed longer. Absolutely 1st class service, from booking to leaving. Every member of staff was so friendly and helpful, they couldn't do enough. We stayed in Bolton Castle Room which was an excellent choice, best nights sleep in a long time, we looked at some other rooms before we left & when we visit again will stay in Castle Howard & Bradford which were excellent as well. Food was fine dining & couldn't fault it, as was breakfast & again the service was outstanding. Yes the rates are expensive but you are paying for quality, fortunately we got a Groupon deal & I'm quite sure if you contacted the hotel, they may price match. The grounds were lovely even tho it's February & enjoyed the Birds of Prey area. To round it up, a superb hotel, with faultless attention to detail & service!
