"Luxury hotel with great service"
Its a great stay with no fault. The location is just nice for a retreat and if it gets bored, you can easily drive 5mins downhill to grab a bite or some shops. The hotel service is excellent and we slept well in the room. Its a dream come true for staying in a castle. Highly recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a lovely hotel in a very nice place in north Yorkshire. Everything was great and lots to do and see. One minor comment, breakfast servings were not as efficient as dinner.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"just love it"

I had stayed in this place before on business and found it a great location with superb service. This time round my wife and I stayed for 3 nights and as expected it was superb. The location is spectacular, the staff and service is just right. There is the usual brilliant service and although it is a luxury castle for me it is never too stuffy, allowing everyone an opportunity to relax and enjoy themselves. The food is to die for and if you get a chance do sample the 7 course taster menu and accompanying wines. Everything about Swinton Park just hits the spot for me and we will definitely be back

My wife and I had been wanting to stay at Swinton Park for several years after hearing many rave reviews from various friends who had enjoyed the experience. We decided the time had come and booked a couple of nights to celebrate my birthday. We were also travelling with our baby daughter of 6 months. We arrived after a 2 hour drive from Manchester and received a less than warm welcome from the girl on reception. Following on from this we were then showed to our room by a new employee who had us trawling round every corner of the hotel to eventually find our room. This was less than amusing as we were carrying all our luggage, a travel cot and our daughter in her car seat! I later asked reception if the hotel had a spare fridge for our daughters baby milk but unfortunately I later had to ask another employee as the person I asked had forgotten. Overall not the best start. Unfortunately we had a similar experience with the front of house when leaving the hotel. The bill was prepared incorrectly and after checking out early to enjoy the walk around the estate (a must do) we visited reception for a complimentary drink of water only to be bluntly told the water was only put on the front desk at 1pm - which was only 30 minutes away! Not the best parting note and certainly note the level of service expected. However, and rightly so, it has to be said that everything in between the "shaky start" and the "dodgy departing note" was excellent. My wife and I were amazed by how welcoming the hotel is to children / babies. This is a beautiful building with a real grandiose feeling but we were made to feel right at home with our 6 month old baby. I imagine this sort of balance is extremely difficult to achieve but Swinton Park manages it with ease. On our first night we ate in the bar area which was delightful. My wife is a vegetarian and the menu catered for her with no complaints. We also visited the bivouac for lunch the following day which was superb. Again the staff were excellent, super friendly and made a genuine fuss over our daughter. Our bedroom was Jervaulx which I believe to be a 'basic' room but despite having a humongous bed (most comfortable ever!) the room was large enough for us and our daughter's travel cot. The bathroom had equal proportions and was decorated beautifully. As regards my disappointment with the front of house I raised our concerns directly with the Hotel Manager and they have been dealt with in an excellent manner and my wife and I will have no hesitation in returning for another stay. I'm confident that on our next visit our experience of the front of house will be totally different.

This is a beautiful, comfortable hotel which welcomes the visitor. The service is wonderful; attentive and charming. The environment is superb; beautiful views, comfy rooms, wonderful grounds. Dinner in the restaurant was eating a masterpiece!

We recently stayed at Swinton Park with some friends because both couples were celebrating our Ruby wedding anniversaries. The hotel is very good with comfortable and spacious rooms and extensive grounds which has a number of interesting walks. We had pre-booked the taster menu at Samuel's with the wine pairing. The food was very good although we were all disappointed that 2 of the courses were game, we had both quail and grouse. Perhaps we should have checked the tasting menu on arrival but I think the restaurant should have informed us about the 2 game courses, I would suggest that many diners would not expect 2 game courses on a taster menu. Where is the variety? Other than that the service was very good with the waiter describing each course and the wine in detail. One other gripe is that although the hotel had been informed that both couples were celebrating a special anniversary, no reference to this was made. Both our friends and ourselves have recently stayed in other hotels and visited other restaurants for our celebrations and they have all, as a minimum, offered their congratulations.
"Excellent staff and wonderful dining"

As a family we took a weekend here towards the end of August. WHat a beautiful part of the countryside. We dined in the bar on Friday night and it was excellent. On Saturday night we did Samuels which was a wonderful experience. The walks around the property were stunning and also the horseriding next door was amazing. The only disappointment was the location of our rooms which were to the rear of the property. They were also really hot as I think they may have been over their heating system. However, I mentioned this when we were checking out and the Manager accepted what we said and gave us a discount on our bill. Whilst I would have preferred different location to the rooms well done to the management for their quick and efficient way in dealing with the matter. Would highly recommend and we would definitely return.

"Sumptuous rooms in a stunning setting"

A perfect romantic getaway. Our room (Middleham) with its comfy bed and huge windows looking out towards the stable block and clock tower suited us perfectly, and the complimentary decanters of gin and whisky were a nice touch. We made full use of the private spa (at no extra cost, but book a slot ahead of your stay) and loved relaxing in the different lounges and beautiful grounds. The 'Hawk-walk' arranged through the hotel (with Mandy and Aries the hawk) offered us another unique and memorable experience, and was reasonably priced. Flicking through the brochure we spotted many other activities (especially relating to food) that we'd have liked to have tried, if only we'd had more time. Breakfast was very tasty, but service was a little slow. Also, the hotel didn't feel able to agree to us checking out at 12.00pm instead of 11.00am. Obviously this isn't something we'd take for granted, but something we generally find other hoteliers are happy to facilitate. Book yourself a break :o)
"Such a treat"

Stayed here as a special treat to ourselves and totally lived up to expectations. The room was amazing, food absolutely delicious - both dinner and breakfast, and the staff were brilliant. Have already booked in for a cooking experience and busy saving up for our next stay

Stopped just one night during our journey thru England, we got fully what we expected. The venue is fantastic, a gem set in a lovely park. It's worth every penny we spent. Excellent service, relax, quietness are just plain words to describe our experience, it deserves a visit. The building is magnificient, a walk in the part make you feel part of the real nature with its lakes, ponds, woods and deers (yes there are lot of deers belonging to the estate. Take out your shoes and walk on the grass, you'll feel in harmony with the surroundings.
"Should have stayed longer"

Fantastic hotel. Only stayed one night but was lovely. Great grounds to walk and run in. Food in the restaurant was very tasty indeed and there was great attention to detail. Complimentary whiskey in the room was a first. Needless to say it was used!! Would heartily recommend.
