We don't like to be right in the thick of things - and this was the perfect hotel for it. Located just off of the main strip in Trouville, things were easy to get to and far enough away that we weren't hearing people coming back from the casino at 4AM at night. The two women who run it (sisters?) were so incredibly generous with their time and gave us great recommendations on restaurants and even looked up train times for us upon our departure. If we ever go back to Trouville (from NYC) we will definitely stay here. A gem for sure. We didnt use the breakfast service (there is a boulangerie a block away) so I cant speak to that but the Wifi worked on my husbands cell phone just fine. *disclaimer - we live in NYC. so this hotel didn't feel very small to us as we live in a large studio. We didn't spend much time in it either so didn't have a problem with the size. in a town like this, you aren't going to want to be inside much anyway. Also, we obviously speak English and the women spoke some, too. Made it very easy to communicate.

We stayed in the second smallest room (the Roucoule), on above the inn's fantastic restaurant. It has slanted ceilings reinforced by old timbers, since it is an attic room, but had a big, comfortable bed, full bath that was newly refurbished, and a table chair/window overlooking the main courtyard, where you can play chess with oversized pieces. The restaurant's goats and cows can be heard from your room with your window open (not overwhelming, but nice), and the restaurant is the best we've been to in Normandy. The breakfast spread is substantial and is included in the "half-board" along with the medium level of the hotel dinner menu, which was quite extensive. Fantastic choice, and less than 10 minutes from the Normandy beaches. Plenty of free parking, and you can wander around the grounds to get a view of the surrounding countryside.

We loved the hotel. We made sure that they had a restaurant for our 12/23-12/25 stay because of the Christmas holiday, which is does. We were told that they close the hotel for the first 2 weeks in January - fine. Why did they close the restaurant on December 22? There was only one place in the town to eat on Christmas Eve - a hotel with only a very expensive 'prix fixe' meal available. This was a disappointment to us.

Hotel was great and perfect apart from its location and the very large advertising hoardings.

Room was clean and very comfortable. The weather was appaling with lots of snow - without the help of the staff I would not have been able to get out of the hotel to catch my ferry. "Just OK for a night"
Basic small room, tiny tired bathroom but OK if all you want to do is sleep. I think we were the only guests there that night. Food at dinner was excellent spoilt by the ridiculously overpriced wine - the cheapest was 23 euos for a bottle you could buy in a supermarket for less than 5 euros. "Bad Experience."
My wife and I stayed one night, on a return back to UK. Our experience was not so nice. We arrived before check in time. So we decided to try the menu in the restaurant. Not an enjoyable lunch. As we were the only dinners there for Saturday lunch time was strange, I ordered a drink, and tried to chose from the menu. All i could find was a bowel of fries […] and a lettuce ( green salad) We checked in and found our room. A top floor small room. A very,very,tinny bathroom, as it is we are both small people but any one over say 5-8 and a little on the heavy or large size you wont get in . This is an honest statement. Its so small we called it a Hobbit Room. Just for tinny people.The selection of food at breakfast was poor. PS HAVING BOOKED WELL IN ADVANCE I DID EXPECT A MORE NICER ROOM. "Not what I expected"
I was very dissappointed with the hotel, the room was very small, the en-suite was nothing more than a cupboard, and the toilet hadn't been cleaned from the last guest, not what you expect to see on arrival, plus no towels in the en-suite. There was a stale smell as you entered the hotel, and when you went up on the landing, it needed some windows opened […] during the day to let some fresh air in, but my view of the hotel I won't be using again. "Ferry port hotel"
The rooms looked as though they had not been updated for about 30 years. The furniture and furnishings were very basic. The tiles in the shower were cracked and black inbetween. Whilst it was convenient for getting the ferry early in the morning - we had to be at the ferry port for 8.00am - breakfast did not start until 7.30am. Concernant le restaurant, je le conseille vraiment à tous. Pour l'hotel, mon choix est inverse. Chambre très petite pour le prix (cela rappelle les petites chambres londoniennes avec la porte de la salle de bain qui touche le lit quand on l'ouvre en grand) et insonnorisation très très mauvaise. Nous étions juste en face de l'escalier (chambre n°1) […] et on entendait vraiment tout. Idem pour le parquet qui craque et les gens qui parlent. Bref, une maison "découpée" en chambres ce qui n'est pas fait pour être insonnorisé. Cela ne vaut pas son prix et d'autres chambres identiques ou même mieux sont trouvables à Ouistreham pour moins cher. En bref: pour les couples (mon cas), restez au restaurant et fuyez l'hotel!! "malgré la tempête, un havre de paix"
C'est mon deuxième passage, ( et celui là dans la rempête d'eau du ciel poussée par un vent fort) dans cet hôtel, où les deux fois je me suis senti parfaitement à l'aise avec des patrons souriants, attentionnés. Le calme, le silence dans les chambres offrent tout ce qu'il y a d'agréable pour se sentir presque totalement comme chez soi. Très bien situés […] entre le bourg calme et la mer.
