This was a nice B&B with a friendly staff. From the location you can walk around 15 minutes down the the waterfront and enjoy the restaurants there. The breakfast was good. I would recommend this place.

For similar price to the George and The Riverside, this is a better bet although it is out of town. Main positive was one of the receptionists who was very helpful (gave me a heater as I was cold, found my welcome rewards number for me and linked 2 separate bookings so I didn't have to move room). However the other receptionist would only do the minimum she could get away with! 2 negatives for me: 1) the shower was a mixer tap so it was difficult to get a reasonable temperature. It was either boiling or freezing. 2) The restaurant was very cold despite all radiators being on.

Very happy,freindly people,we could not beleive how clean the hotel was,if you are looking for great value then this is a great place to stay.Very cheap beer,and the food was great value.Cheers to all the staff.

The Old Rectory is a gem. A beautiful house standing in pretty and well maintanined gardens.The weather during our stay (November) was not very nice but it made the open fires and warm bedrooms evenmore welcoming.Certainly worthy of another visit or two.

This b&b is located in a rural area, but not far off the A14 highway. It is situated on a large tract of land, with a great deal of wildlife presant, particularly pheasants. The room was quite nice, with a coffee/tea maker and a tiny refrigerator. The full English breakfast was excellent, cooked to the guest's desire. The location is about a 40 minute drive to Cambridge.

Had a lovely 3 day stay over Easter. The rooms are nice and clean and the standard room we stayed in was more than big enough. The food is exceptional... and the cooked breakfast is a nice way to set you up for the day. We also made time for afternoon tea during our stay, which was a nice treat. The staff were all pleasant and went out of their way to be helpful and make our stay memorable. If I had one small gripe, it was that the bathroom was in need of a spruce up to get it to the same standard of the bedroom. The hotel and staff at Hintlesham hall are wonderful. The food was lovley and service spot on. The only negative comment is that the rooms are a little tired and would look amazing is treated to a professional make over. Also we went to sit and read by the log fires, but the one in the main reception area is never alight and even when asked if they […] could (as it was a gas one it should not have been a problem),but we were told it is never lit :( they said we could sit in the other lounge but only for a hour as it was being used for a wedding so that was a shame. Afternoon tea was good and inexpensive and all in all we would return (in fact we did a couple of weeks later) Read more

Personally I should have liked an unheated towel rail , in addition to the heated one, by the end of the bath as there was absolutely nothing except a lot of space at that end and nowhere to hang a bath towel.The toilet roll holder could have been easier to access.It required a huge twist around. Also useful would be somewhere to put the shower gel […] when showering. As I understand,this room was redone in something of a HURRY with some quite important features overlooked...but it was attractive with plenty of hot water available at all times. All in all a very satisfactory stay in a spacious, well decorated bedroom and comfortable chairs in which to relax and a bonus that we could have the dog with us.Apart from the comments about the bathroom I would recommend the hotel as excellent with a most interesting history, and convenient for travel in all directions. The room was clean ,the public areas comfortable and the staff always helpful. Read more

I have stayed here several times since discovering it a couple of months ago and I have recommended it to all of my work colleagues who have aslo now switched from their usual hotels. I have been reluctant to leave a review as the last thing I want is for too many others to discover it but frankly it's too good not to acknowledge Set in the country […] it is an old country house hotel with traditional style and simply the best customer service you could ask for. After staying isn so many characterless places like the Ramada and Novotel chains this hotel is a total delight and makes working away from home so much more bearable. I cannot recommend it too highly. Read more
