I spend lots of time traveling for work. This trip to Houston took place while a huge oil conference was in town so most downtown rooms were booked. I chose to stay at Travel Lodge because it was close to the airport. The room was so disgusting I could not stay in it. Even though it was pre-paid, I checked out immediately and paid for another room at […] a nearby hotel. There was a hideous ammonia like odor coming from the room, the carpets were filthy and there was literally a hole in the wall. One of the worst experiences ever. I thought to ask about airport shuttle which they did have. However although it was 24hrs I had to wait outside since it was 4:30 am. This is not exactly an area of Houston that you need to wait outside, especially a female and the clerk could only shrug his shoulders. Staff was un informed I called for a late check-in they didn't hold the room which was pre-paid. The room was dirty towels tiny and ratty! no coffee in room as advertised, no hair dryer. Tub had mold in it and ceilings dirty and what looked to be black mold. Pillows were dirty and stained. Phone in the room was in pieces. This hotel is very ghetto. The guests drive in with their slammed cars riding 20" wheels blaring rap music, if you know what I mean. The room's toilet leaked water nonstop and it was noisy, so I had to turn off its water inlet at night. Then I had to remember to turn it on before using the toilet. The hotel is old. Carpet is not clean, easily to find spot and stain. bedding is just OK, but you can tell the pillow is not too new because it is not fresh at all. I guess that's why it is almost the cheapest hotel near HOU airport.

We stayed for the night before a morning flight. The rate was very low. The room was clean although the carpet was stained and old. The location was close to the airport, the staff was very friendly and helpful and it was great to be able to get a shuttle to the airport. For the price it was a deal and we would do it again for an overnight.

When we first got there the first room they gave us the door wouldnt lock, the floor was sinking in like the bed was going to fall in, microwave had food in it. It took 4 tries before we found a decent room, the front desk didn't even know 2 were not cleaned, and the 3rd one appeared to have used sheets. Elevators were broken, no coffee pot or clothes iron in room, cracked window, bed cover and carpet had burnt smoke holes in it, smoke alarm had no battery, breakfast was sub par, no fruit, all artificial products, […] even the OJ was Sunny D. This hotel is rated a 2 star. I think it should be reduced to a 1 star. At check in the clerk told me that she had never seen inside of any of the rooms and that none of the elavators ever work. Right off in teh parking lot, I was approached by female that asked me if I was alright? I assume this was a proposition for prostution or drugs. Later that […] night, I noticed a lot of people sitting in vehicles and a lot of vehicle were comming and going. Again, I think this is potential illegal activity. The rooms furnishings were about what I expected for the price. There was a bracket for a flat screen TV on the wall, but ther was an old 19" TV on the counter with no remote. I assue the other TV was in the shop for repairs or stolen. The room was OK but could have been cleaner and teh spots on the carpet could have been steam cleaned. I came for a visit to see my doctor, all the hotels in the area near the hospitals were booked so I took a room at this hotel. The location is not in the safest area of town, the room was incredibly dirty, the staff apathetic. I could have probably managed to deal with all of this, expect for when I returned to the hotel from the hospital for my second […] nights stay my room had been given to another person -- even though I had reserved the room for a second night, not checked out and my luggage was still in the room! When it was discovered they had given my room to someone else I asked for my bags, and they were missing and magically nobody knew where they had gone too. With all of my medications in my bags I was panicked and the management finally went searching for my belongings. Sometime later my bags were discovered buried beneath laundry in housekeeping. Management did not seem surprised, nor concerned. Not only will I not stay in this location again, I will never stay in any of the hotels owned or operated by this chain. Read more

This hotel is very good value for your money. The staff is very friendly and is always willing to help out with your needs. The room was in good condition when I arrived. HDTV on a flat screen with HBO was also a plus. Room has fridge and microwave so I could store some leftovers in there. All in all- quality experience.

Having booked the Travelodge through Hotels.com my travel arrangements changed. A telephone call to Hotels.com, who telephoned the Travelodge, confirmed that my booking could be changed to 27+28 October. Onarrival at the Hotel it was blatantly obvious that the staff on duty did not have the expertise to deal with the change of dates. Reference was made […] to my Credit Card not being accepted. Obviously I was distressed by the comments. Eventually I realised that the staff member had not the knowledge to deal with the alteration in my booking although he did inform me that a note was appended to my booking regarding the changes. Thus confirming the info provided to me by Hotels.com. After an hour had elapsed I insisted that the Hotel contact Hotels.com who immediately dealt with the situation and a further member of staff at the Hotel was called for and the booking confirmed. The room was very basic, tatty and had terrible smell which was caused by a substance similar to 'shake & vac'. We continuously used an air freshening spray.The Breakfast room left a great deal to be desired. At all times Hotels.com dealt with my situation timeously and knowledgably. I would recommend that this Travelodge be removed from your Website and that no further bookings be taken on their behalf. Having stayed in numerous Travelodge Hotels in the UK and USA I find it difficult to comprehend that this establishment belogs to the same company as others in the group. Read more
