"Hotel is nice, but don't eat at the restaurant!"
First of all, Mont Saint Michel is simply amazing! I can't believe we were able to book a room on this pseudo-island! Mouton Blanc was nicely located right at the beginning of the main street. When we arrived, the receptionist was absolutely wonderful. Our room was on the top floor, no elevator, but we carry our backpacks so we didn't care. It was very […] castle-like with lots of twists and turns and nooks and small spaces everywhere to peek at. Such a novelty and so much fun! Our room was very nice and even quite large by Europe standards, especially considering how much was packed on this little island. However, do not eat at the restaurant. In fact...RUN from the restaurant. RUN FAST. We were the only people in the restaurant when we first arrived. We ordered 2 glasses of wine, and the waiter brought a bottle. We figured we would drink that much anyway so we didn't say anything. My husband ordered one thing on the menu but it was clear that something else was presented to him. My husband asked a different waitress to see the menu and then questioned the waiter. The waiter was not happy with us for questioning him and snatched the menu from my husband. The waiter was generally cranky and angry with us and everyone else. In fact, he was so rude that some other customers got up to leave. They must have complained because soon they were back with this waiter ooh-ing and aah-ing over them and serving them with huge smiles...but then turning around and rolling his eyes. It was very unprofessional. As if a cranky waiter wasn't enough, there were gnats and mosquitos and flies. Now I realize that everywhere you go in Europe (for some reason) there are these annoyances. But this was ridiculous as we were continually swatting at this or that bug. At one point, I turned to look at the wall above my husband's head and I counted 10 mosquitos. I quit counting and we ate as fast as we could to get out of there. The next morning we went for a walk to the abbey and we got back 15 min Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location, location, location"
Very friendly, English-speaking staff. quaint old hotel, in the heart of the historic, medieval village on Mount-Saint-Michel. Great location to be in late in the evening and early in the morning, after and before all the hordes of day-trip tourists, when the Mount is quiet and tranquil. Unfortunately, the only parking is down at the foot of the Mount, […] at the end of the causeway, and it can be a hike up to the hotel, especially if you're lugging a heavy bag. I'd recommend you pack a small overnight bag, and just bring it up into the village. Also, it's critical to know when the really high tides are, as the parking area can flood during those times, and the parking situation would be much more difficult. Our room was in the "upper" building, across from the parish church, which was clean and decent, but without any charm in the interior. I'm told the rooms in the main bukiding, I.e., where the reception is, are much more charming. I' definitely stay here again, but I'd pack just an overnight bag, and ask for a room in the main building Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"anazing stay on Mont St Michel"
The hotel was as advertised...it IS an old location so don't expect the space of a Hilton! Our rooms were in the "annex" so looked up toward the cathedral. What an amazing site to see it lit at night, looming above us out our window and what a delight to walk around without the crowds. The restaurant across the path was wonderful, although it looked […] like a KFC. What a surprise - but it has been there over 100 years! The walk up is a cobblestone road, so carry an overnight tote, and not your roller bag. Look at staying ON Mont St Michel as a bonus! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cute hotel minutes away from the abbey"
Hotel le Mouton Blanc was the perfect place to stay for one night, it was on the main tourist street on the way to the abbey on the right hand side, can't miss it! The woman checking us in spoke very good English. Our room was a triple, loft style and the bathroom was nice and modern! The only comments I have are that the rooms on these hotels are very […] old, and do not have air conditioning. For the most part it's cool there anyways, but for our night it was a little warm. But it's all about location, and totally worth it to stay there because in the morning you can walk to the abbey in 10 minutes. Not only that, we got there around 5:00 and the tourists were leaving, so we were able to walk around the streets/city walls and it felt like being in a medival village. Then, best of all, we walked just outside on the causeway and saw it lit up at night. It was an amazing experience, if there was one thing I saw in France I was awed by, this was it - it was SO worth the 4 hour drive from Paris to see it. We ate at the hotel restaurant, and despite general comments about the food on the island not being great and the service being poor, I did not agree - I had lobster, foi gras, etc. and it was delicious! So I'd recommend the hotel restaurant. Also, there's one main street on the island, so in the morning, all the delivery cars would come through and right around 7 it started to get noisy. But if you're getting an early start, it won't be a problem. And you're going to want to get an early start before the tour buses start pouring in! One last thing - parking and bags! The causeway going in goes straight (buses and people staying at the hotel, in which case you'll need a code) or the lot to the right, general parking and hotel parking if there's no high tide. When we got in (fully prepared w/ the code) the attendent did not let us go straight to the upper paved lot, but waived us down to the main one (even though we said we were staying on the island). "Very average, stay on the mainland."
It was not outlined at all that we would have to park on the mainland then lug our bags across to the island. Our room wasn't ready until late in the day and the staff were uninterested. The first time I opened the door to walk out of the room the door knob fell off. Finally, on our last night of our stay it was raining and the roof leaked onto my clothes […] while we were sleeping. "Lovely hotel in the centre of Mont St Michel"
Very comfortable room with very helpful staff. It was great being able to stay on the Mont. The only complaint was the noise from the fork lift early in the morning making deliveries to all the businesses, but that would apply to any of the hotels fronting the street. Very good value.:Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great for couples. Expensive for families."
When we booked the hotel we understood we could park on the island. But a recent change means you park on the mainland, catch a bus (5-10 mins) to the island, then walk up 300m (against the flow of tourists) tot he room. The island is magical but very crowded - when we finally reached the hotel it looked fantastic and was a very welcome sight. We had […] a family room for 4 right at the top. No help with baggage. Room was clean but bathroom looked ready for some work (basically fine though). Eating in was expensive so ate out (tons of choice within 5 mins). Views great from room...but nearby guests were rowdy which made for a disturbed night. Breakfast was very expensive too...and very disappointing - no staff to top up hot water or fruit juice and food looked like it had been there for an age already when we got there (at 8am). Being able to walk the island at night was fantastic, and have a cosy base to come back to. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Take only a backpack"
The hotel is quite unique and it was a lovely experience to have stayed on the Mont St-Michel. However, it is quite complicated to figure out where to park your car and where to take the shuttle bus to the Mont St-Michel as cars are not allowed. The security parking staff were confusing and not sure themselves where we needed to be directed for parking. "Not the bet choice for mont st Michel"
Our room 305 was in another building to the main hotel which meant even more walking over cobbled streets. Our room was extremely small..hardly room to move. The breakfast was included in our tariff but again we had to walk down the street to the main building. The breakfast was very disorganised. The tables were not set properly and it was hard to […] find cutlery or plates. We didnt ave cereajl because we couldnt find the plates and no one in sight to ask for them. We only had one small plate and a cup on our table so we had to use the same plate for everything. We emailed re parking several weeks before our arrival but received no response. We rang the day of our arrival and were given the parking lot number and an access code. It was very hard to find the parking lot number and when we did eventually llocate it the code would not work. When we mentioned these difficulties to the hotel reception they were not surprised which made us think it was quite common for the code not to work etc. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Wanted to spend a night on the Mont, just to experience it. I thought we would be in the hotel but were some way away up a side alley. The room was adequate though very dated. I did expect a lot more for the expense but felt like an after thought. I felt the hotel didnt need to make an effort because there will be other punters coming along regardless […] of any feedback. "Hotel Mouton Blanc - Mont St Michel"
Staying on beautiful Mont St. Michel is a delightful experience and perhaps surprisingly, great in winter. Only a few tourists and none of the summer crowds and yes some of the restaurants and shops are closed but after the day trippers leave you feel that you have the island to yourself. The misty Normandy weather only adds to the wonderful atmosphere. Mouton […] Blanc is a small and atmospheric hotel a short walk up the main path - there are no cars on the island. "Old hotel within the walls of Le Mont"
Le Mouton Blanc is well situated within the walls of Le Mont. The room was basic but comfortable and clean. Bathroom was small, but everything worked so it suited our purposes (we weren't there to spend much time in our room). No bar fridge (this was something we would have used, as drinks in the local restaurants and bars were expensive). Very steep […] stairs made getting the luggage to our room a bit of a workout! Staff were friendly and helpful, and service in the restaurant was good. Unfortunately, all the restaurants seem to offer a similar menu, so choices are limited. Beware light sleepers - this is an old hotel and not terribly soundproof. We could hear water running in other rooms, and activity from the passage was quite loud. However, we would stay again as it was good value considering the location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wouldn't Stay on the "Mont"."
The hotel is right on Mont Saint Michel which we wanted for the "magical" experience. The hotel itself was pretty rustic and a bit run down. Walls very thin, we could hear our neighbors alarm go off in the morning, as well as every other noise. Our room overlooked the main pedestrian street which was interesting but at night when everyone was coming […] home from bars, restaurants, it was very disruptive as we tried to sleep. Perhaps a room on the back would have been better. The bed was comfortable. If we had to do it again, we would not stay on the Mont, as the shuttles run back and forth til 11pm. We wanted to see it after dark, which we could have achieved without the cost of staying on the island and the very expensive food services. 20 Euro for an omlette and 6 Euro for a cup of coffee seems a bit pricey. If we hadn't had our hotel in Bayeux call and ask about parking, which required a special code, we would have been very frustrated when we arrived. Parking was 8.50 Euro. "A unique location"
Staying on Mont Saint Michel does mean making some compromises. In particular the size and comfort of the room isn't what you would get for the same money in other locations, and noise from other rooms and the street is an issue.
