Very nice hotel and the views are amazing, great hotel to go there and relax. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The food was good and the service was great. Hotel was amazing. We were allowed to check in at about 2 o clock. We got an upgraded room even though we just had a regular room (don't think it'll work for everybody though) bc the AC wasn't working properly in the first one. Staff here is amazing. They'll take care of you wherever you are. The island is a little big and for that you need to call […] for transportation whenever you wanna go somewhere, specially if you are staying in a villa. That can be a little hassle sometimes, but you call reception and they'll eventually come pick you up. Food was top notch, exceptional quality and the waiters were always so attentive and helpful you felt as if you were a King. Reservation restaurants were amazing, I went to Restaurante Don Pablo and that thing was like visiting a very very expensive restaurant. Everything was more than we expected and everything tasted really well. Room service though takes about one hour or so to arrive and food is usually a little cold and beatened up by the time it gets to you (at least in my experience). I went for my honeymoon and it was amazing for me, I'd definitely be coming back to this place woth my wife. However, I don't recommend it to people with teenagers or growing kids as they might find themselves a little out of place. The animation team wasn't as good as other places and there's no night fun at this place. There was a party at the beach and there was just two people and they were actual employees. Read more

The Bahia Gran Principe on island Cayo Levanto off the coast of the Dominican Republic is stunning in its location, gardening, physical plant, pools and beach and ocean. The bed was comfortable, the television […] reception not so great but why go there to watch tv? The amenities, in my opinion, can not be faulted. I wish I could say the same for the food. We live in Santo Domingo and have stayed at the Iberostar on Bavaro beach at Punta Cana, and had the same experience. Location and setting delightful, food a disappointment. They must train at the same schools. The fresh fruits, vegetables and fish are all great - never a disappointment there, but the beef and lamb is tough (I am told they do not hang beef to age as we do in North America) and although the desserts all look like something you know and have enjoyed before, they have been made with lesser ingredients and taste awful. Lemon mousse is some edible oil whipped up with what tastes like margarine, creme caramel brulee is, as far as I could tell, Jello vanilla pudding with burned sugar on top. What looks like sour cream to put on mexican food is a blend of sour cream and some other edible oil. I could go on. Stick with the seafood and the fresh local fruits and vegetables. Make sure, if you land in santo Domingo, that you book transportation. We had to take a cab 2.5 hrs to the hotel and cost $240. And another $240 on the way back to the airport. Although a bit hard to get to from the capital Santo Domingo (2 - 2.5 hour drive) it was well worth it. Crystalline waters, top shelf drinks, impeccable pools, clean & spacious rooms, pleasant service, delicious & varied menu make it a 5 star experience. We are vegetarians and food is often an issue for us on vacations - this hotel had some pretty decent choices for us, and the non buffet restaurants mad an effort to create dishes for us. First I want to say that my fiancée and I are extremely easy going, and don’t have high expectations. That said the hotel and its location are beautiful, however if you look closely at things you will notice that the up keep is lacking. For example many of the tiles in the suites and bathrooms are cracked and appear to have been unprofessionally repaired […] with some kind of filler. There are too many small things like this to go into detail about, and they are not a big deal, but for a hotel that is supposed to be 4 or 5 stars you would expect repairs to be somewhat professional. The service is unpredictable; when we arrived we were ignored for the most part it wasn't until the staff realized that we are excessive tippers that we received adequate service. Our room was cleaned properly twice in the two weeks that we were at the hotel, coincidently this happened on the two days that we did not leave a tip for the maid. Expect really slow service at the a la carte restaurants, as they are understaffed. The food at the resort is good for an all-inclusive. However if you don't make all your reservations for the restaurants at the beginning of the week, they become fully booked, or you will be eating very late. The beaches and pools on the island are beautiful, clean, and quiet. We have been to many all-inclusive hotels, and I would have to say that while this is one of the most beautiful it is not worth the price. We had a great time at this hotel, but will not return.
