Good accomodation for a cheap price.
The hotel is a bit dated and the rooms are small. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, however. The two people I encountered at the front desk were prompt and friendly. There is no elevator so I had to carry heavy luggage up a flight of stairs. There was a lot of good dining options right in the immediate vicinity.

Very bad
The heat in the room was not sufficient and the coffe pot was too old and dirty. There was no heat while the outside tempreture was -21 and the vantilation fan in the washroom was not working. The owner/manager did not care for any of the issue.

*Smartly Priced Amical Conducive*
I've been to Montreal a few times. Location of Hotel Ste Cathe is quite remarkable in the historic gay ddistrict. Its total convenience makes a trip worthwhile. Its between two public subway stops which gives Montreal at your doorstep. It had an attached hotel that looks similar outside but owned/ran by different management which had a neighborhood reputation of peculiar busyness. But Hotel Ste Cathe Is total opposite in facilities and comfort of stay. It is very secure, quiet, cozy in realm. The coffee and muffins gives a great jumpstart to your day. The management is professional, kknowledgeableof its community and city, and easy to converse with on any life subject seemingly. I had a great stay. He most convenient of most my trips to Montreal. Book it, and enjoy the city.

Really not that bad
I tried to give this hotel high ratings to counteract the extreme negative ones. Simply put this hotel is not that bad. The manager was friendly and very accommodating. The rooms were dated but overall clean. The neighborhood was fun and lively. Great value. I would definitely stay here if I visit Montreal again on a budget. This is not a five star hotel, but you get what you pay for.
