Very nice staff. The door to my room was out of kilter with the frame, so I had to shoulder it closed. Still looked secure. No noise from any neighbors (mid week).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Sofa sleeper, couch was broken! Recliner chair, lamp light bulb burned out. Another light didn't work. This seems like either an old hotel or one badly in need of maintenance and or repair.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice and clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"just outside sylva"
this is an average quality inn a couple of miles outside of sylva on the highway. the desk people weren't overly friendly but were not rude either. the elevator is a little sketchy but overall was a clean and quiet hotel. the pool looked nice but we didnt use it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to Western Carolina University"
We brought our daughter for orientation at WCU and stayed one night. This was a great place to stay. The accommodations were very nice, check in was easy and it was close to Cullowhee. We will plan to stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

We took a weekend get-a-way. I chose Quality Inn b/c I am a Choice Privileges Member. We were greeted warmly by the front desk personnel--and were always greeted when we left and came back. The room was fine and appeared clean. But there was a strong odor. I think that could be solved by cleaning the carpets. The alarm clock didn't work but we used our cell phones. I reported the broken clock when we checked out. Breakfast was fine and well-stocked.Towels were a little thin. But overall, not a bad stay.

If you are looking for just the basic room with no fridg or microwave and an old style tv, this is it. It was clean and comfortable. The downside was you could smell cigarette smoke in the hallways and elevator. Skip the morning breakfast. It is not worth going down for except for the coffee. The hotel is located in a beautiful area in the North Carolina mountains. Not much to do in the area but sight see.
"Address NOT on GPS"
07/06/14 kythoro Lexington, South Carolina
I have a TomTom and Garmin GPS and neither could locate the address of the hotel, however when I called they gave me a different address that worked. I found the staff to be courteous and accommodating. My room was on the 4th floor and it was clean and had a frig. I was happy with the quality and location of this Inn although it is located in a bad turn area. I would stay again as the price was reasonable.
"DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Im not kidding"
06/07/14 emery c Raleigh, North Carolina
I pulled up to the hotel and noticed it was not very friendly looking, the lobby smelled of cigarettes and the hotel was extremely dingy/dirty. It hasnt been renovated since the 70's. With enough reasons of not wanting to stay there already, I had to cancel my reservations for other reasons (mistake in location/booking from work) and was told I'd have to pay the full night's amount regardless. The front desk staff was rude and useless; the Manager was the worse. He then went on to argue policy requirements for online reservations, needing to keep his hotel full, my lack of consideration around booking, that it was my mistake not his. After all that, why on earth would he want an unhappy guest to stay in his dirty, stinky hotel anyway? It was so gross. I was in there for a good half hour arguing and left smelling like smoke for the rest of the day.
"Memorial Day weekend disaster!"

This hotel may have the "best rates", but there is nothing Quality about this hotel. It is dimly lit, and it smells awful. It seriously needs to be updated and CLEANED! Although we had a non-smoking room, our room smelled like an ashtray. Our couch in our room had two rips in it & some stain on it. The sheets on our bed weren't changed the entire time we stayed there. My boyfriend had ripped open his knuckle while at work which left a small stain on the sheet our right after we checked in. That same stain was there in the same spot when checkedout on Monday morning. You might as well forget about sleep because can hear the Smokey Mountain Expressway from the room. Besides the fact that you almost get rear-ended trying to pull into the place. It's located right off the edge of the expressway on an 8% grade hill. They don't have an lane you can get over onto, so the traffic behind you doesn't plow into you. You have to go past the hotel & turn around then cross the traffic to keep from being ran over. You can also hear people showering, talking, slamming doors, and pulling into the parking lot (we were on the 3rd floor). The free breakfast is a joke. They don't have any hot food other than the waffle maker, or you can microwave yourself oatmeal. I will never return to this place. Thank goodness it wasn't raining. Each day we left anywhere between 8-9 in the morning and we wouldn't return until 8-9 at night. I was extremely disappointed, I can't believe we wasted our points on this roach coach.
"Poor service, and double charging credit cards!"

I stayed here while attending a wedding in the mountains. The mother of the bride reserved a large block of rooms. There is very little staff here, and we had to wait a while to check in. The entire hotel smells, and although in theory we had a no -smoking room, it still smelled of smoke. There was rarely anyone at the front desk, when one had questions, and you had to wait to check out. I guess we had it better than other wedding guests who stayed here. They had issues with heating, and cleanliness. The worst part is that after we waited to check out, and were charged, we found out later that our dear friend who had blocked out the rooms was also charged!!! When I called to rectify the situation, first they said they had no records of my card or stay, then the woman coyly suggested that perhaps the mother of the bride intended to pay for our room. Well if that was the case(which it wasn't), why did you charge both our cards?!?!? What kind of business doesn't have records of their reservations? I hope my poor friend eventually got her money back. Would never stay here again. If you do, check your credit card statement carefully after leaving!!
"Quite, very small town."
The hotel was okay, nothing great, but a decent place to stay, but the town is rather plain. Nothing great to do, but within an hour of every direction something to do. Okay for adults but not an exciting adventure for children.
"Best place for the $. Couldn't ask for a more friendly staff."

I took a job at the hospital and needed a place to stay til I found an apartment. Being from Tn, I knew nothing about the area. I stayed there on 2 occasions both were very pleasant. All staff went above and beyond what in my opinion was expected. Front desk clerks down to the cleaning staff it didn't matter what I needed they were very quick to see I was taken care of. I worked nights and needed to sleep during the day. Housekeeping staff cleaned around my sleep schedule and made sure I was not disturbed. I have never stayed at a hotel that everyone I met was so polite, helpful and friendly. Their motto "Come as a guest leave as a friend". This was true in both my stays. Now I am sure there was another hotel that may have been a 5 star but I was not willing to pay the outrageous price.I spent a entire weekend looking at hotels n prices in this area. I am sure I would have not been as satisfied as I am with the staff and services provided at the Sylva Inn. In my opinion this is the best all around in this area. The low rates are just a plus.
"Average hotel for area"
12/30/13 galax2013 Galax, Virginia
This is a older hotel that we have stayed at a couple of times while my son was attending WCU. The hotel is dated, but clean. The staff was not so friendly. The price of the hotel will vary depending on when you want a room. We called for another visit, but the rate was about $50 more than what we paid before because of an event at WCU. So, we stayed at another hotel. The next time that we were headed to the area, we called, and the rate was back down to around $80 a night. The location is convenient for all trips for WCU, and close enough to Cherokee. Just remember to check the rates ahead of time.

The hotel is being renovated, so lobby and breakfast area are dated, cold, and very much in transition. Room was large, sunny, comfortable, clean, but bathroom needs refurbishing where a previous leak has damaged wallpaper. Staff in breakfast area was friendly and helpful though it was graduation weekend. Breakfast buffet was unremarkable. Soap was gritty and shampoo had peculiar odor. Although our 4th floor room looked right out on the highway, it was quiet enough that we weren't disturbed by road noise.
