"Perfect Stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
The Westin was perfect! Stayed in a suite with friends for a weekend away. The hotel was clean and the service was great. The location is perfect for walking and dining in the old port and totally accessible if you want to spend time downtown or further North. No complaints!

Price at the restaurant was high ei $16.00 for glass of house wine. Gym under reno and card for other facility didn't work

"Perfection in Old Montreal"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
We only stayed the one night at Place d'Armes hotel, on our way back to Vancouver and then home, but we wished we had more time, and will return. The hotel staff were both welcoming and efficient (not a combination one often finds), and the hotel itself was immaculate in every respect. The room was flawless in its design, the bed was soft enough to be comfortable, but not so soft as to feel like one is clambering from a bean-bag, upon rising, (as I found in so many hotels in the States!) I particularly appreciated that the designers had eschewed a bath/shower combination in the large bathroom, and installed a large, stone-clad, walk-in shower with a beautiful glass shower screen, instead. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring Old Town Montreal by foot, which was just what we wanted to do, since we only had the one night. When we checked out, we left our luggage with Place D'Armes, mentioned when we would return for our flight and, when we did, a taxi was already awaiting us. Immaculate service.

"Hotel Stay, Montreal"
Great Place to stay! The owners are very friendly and help this out-of-towner find her way around. They made sure all of my questions were answered and anything I needed was taken care of. I can't say enough about my stay at Hotel Stay.
"conveniently located in Old Montreal"
It was just as described and conveniently located. The staff was so great and very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. We did have to open window and balcony door because it was warm at night and there was no air in the room. Also, you will need to bring your own washcloths as they only have bath towels and hand towels upon request. The bathroom […] is very small and shower even small definitely not recommend for larger people. Overall it was a great experience and I would stay here again! Read more
"Fantastic"
I'd go back and stay here in a heartbeat. Great location for the gays.
"Stay Hotel, Montreal"
This Hotel was an excellent value. The Staff is wonderful.Rooms are updated and clean. The location is very convenient for any downtown tourist or traveler.
"pretty good deal but"
The location is pretty good, close to everything in downtown, the hotel is in good conditions, very clean, freindly staff, there is couple downs in this hotel which is the parking is pretty expensive, it costs $25 per day, and the other issue you can hear a very loud noise of the water running in the pipes when somebody takes a shower in any of the […] rooms next to you, or above you, overall it was worth the value and the fact that I stayed two nights only. "Nice stay on a budget"
I stayed here for four nights. The room was nicely decorated and clean. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a good location to see the sights as well. I would definitely stay there again. The quality for the price was very good.
"NEVER STAY HERE"
Do not trust your things with these people and take nothing of value as there is no safe in the rooms. I accidentally left a bag with glasses, an electric shaver and a few other non-expensive items. They said they had it, would send it to me and email me afterwards. Never happened. Its been 4 weeks now and every time I call it either goes to voicemail, […] they say to call back tomorrow or they simply leave me on hold until the call drops, only to not answer when I call back immediately after. When I returned I had to take the time to file a police report in person :( Read more

"Nice budget hotel"
I was in Montreal on a business trip and stayed there for two nights. The hotel is conveniently located in the downtown area, walking distance from the metro and central bus station. The rooms were clean and stylishly decorated. The hotel had more of an European than an American feel, which added to the charm. The only thing that they could improve […] on was the breakfast - "Kirkland" brand croissants do not look very appealing in a Francophone country. Read more
"Great place"
Bed was a bit firm, but a great place to stay
"Great Hotel"
This hotel was perfect for us! We are a young couple with a kid on a bit of a budget. This place made Montreal an affordable option for vacation and it was worth it. It's right next to public transportation. Montreal is a pretty small city and we are big walkers and could walk to downtown, the old city, and surrounding neighborhoods quite easily. The […] staff was nice and even offered to wait to vacuum the hall while our child was sleeping. The room was fine, clean, and comfortable. One word, if you do need to park in the parking lot buy your ticket at the counter of the hotel. Thanks again!!!!! Read more
"Great place"
Hotel Stay Centre Ville is a very nice, comfortabe, and clean place. My wife and I stayed here 2 nights. The rooms are clean, small and simple. We had a small fridge, a bathroom, and a television, which were all nice perks, especially the private bathroom. The surrounding neighborhood is very fun, with a lot of Pubs and great little restaurants. David, […] the proprietor, was very nice, and he couldn't have been more helpful. We will definitely be staying here again! Read more
"Bad location, room ok"
The location is close to greyhound bus and main metro station however, the neighborhood is not safe. The hotel has its door locked at all times and you are given a code to get in. A local told me I was crazy for staying in that neighborhood. the room was clean but the shower drain had trouble draining. I didnt feel secure in the area. I wont stay in […] this area again. "Four star service at a two star price"
Great little hotel. Giovanni, one of the two owners spent a half-hour with us suggesting sights and restaurants, as he has with many others. Invaluable information. They have sought to compensate for their unavailability by giving you their cell phone number and encouraging you to call them with any needs that occur when the desk isn't manned, which […] is most of the time. One block away from Metro. Parking a block away was $20 for a 24-hour day. Free wifi. Limited, but tasty cont. breakfast. For the most part, nicely appointed rooms. Wouldn't hesitate to go there again. Read more
"Hotel Stay Centre-Ville, Montreal, Canada"
Nice hotel. Small room? Yes. Small bath? Oh yes. Comfortable? I certainly thought so. Clean? Definitely. This is a boutique-type hotel that's showing its age a bit but it's attractive and fun. If you're looking for the Marriot, then go there and pay the price. Here, you have a fun place with good staff, in a well-located area. The fact that there's […] rarely anyone at the front desk will likely annoy some but I had no problem with it. This was a great value for the price and I'd certainly go back! (Perhaps not for the easily annoyed.) ;-) Read more
"Hotel Stay very convenient to stores & attractions"
Nice room, very well appointed for the price. Service could be better. When I asked the maid to have a bathroom lamp replaced, it was never done.
"Great place to stay for our 3 night Montreal visit"
Convenient location for our Montreal experience. Room was very clean and people at the desk were very helpful when they were there. Parking was secure and was located a couple blocks away (at $20 per 24 hours). We found no need to touch the car until we left the city. Our only problem was a smoke detector that beeped much of the night and from our first […] attempt at 8:30p to get help silencing it, to our fourth attempt about midnight, we could get no answer to our ringing of the bell at the desk (we could find no way to reach the high ceiling for a personal attempt to dismantle it.) The tiny breakfast room had two bistro tables with a total of four chairs; if they were filled you could take your breakfast back to your room, and sit on the bed for your meal. It was a fun experience, however, and we would not hesitate to stay there again. Read more
"Hotel Stay Montreal"
Unless you are totally self-sufficient this is not the hotel for you. The exterior of the hotel looks suspect but the rooms inside are pretty good. The main drawback is that there is hardly ever anyone at the desk for service.

"A great place to stay in Montreal,."
Right by the university and the Quartier Latin, this is a very nice place to stay. The room was very clean and modernly decorated. The bathroom was picture perfect and the staff were nice and friendly. The free breakfast included cereal, croissants coffee, yogurt, juice and fruit. The only bad thing I could possibly say about this place, was that on […] the third floor the wifi signal was a little weak. I would and will highly recommend this place to anybody. Read more
"A wonderful stay"
Staying at Hotel Stay Centre Ville was just perfect. It was like staying at your Uncle's house...there's a beautiful clean room with clean nice linens, he leaves you with a key to the house, access to the internet, and use of the phone, and leaves a delicious breakfast out for you, then gets out of the way. While some people may not like having to carry […] their luggage up a steep flight of stairs, or wish the hotel had more services (like a pool or gym) I thought it was perfect! The rooms were very beautiful, especially the bathrooms, and David and Giovanny were very nice and helpful. The location can't be beat...1/2 a block from the metro station, right next to a grocery store and more, and very close to the airport shuttle bus. And to top it off, it was 2-3 times less than what my other friends were paying to attend the same conference. I will definitely recommend this place to whoever is going to Montreal in the future! "Surprisingly great little hotel"
I was worried that for the very cheap price, we'd have a terrible stay, but I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was very clean and everything looked new. The rooms are a bit small but not nearly as tiny as I'd expected. The staff was very nice. Breakfast is included, though we were never up early enough to take them up on that offer. The rooms have […] cable TV's and free wi-fi, although the wi-fi could be spotty at times. If you're looking to spend time in the Gay Village, this is the perfect location. A block away from Rue Ste Catherine Est, where all the clubs are. A block away from the Berri-UQAM Metro station, which serves three of the four lines, and the express bus from the airport puts you only four blocks from the hotel. Couldn't have been happier with my stay! Read more
"Hotel Stay Centre Ville"
Quaint little hotel in the heart of Motreal. The rooms are small, but very clean. The decor is darling! We were within walking distance of so many things! Perfect for travelers who want to be out and about. Your hotel room is just for sleeping, who needs all those extra things anyway:o) Would stay there again in a heart beat!!
"Affordable-Clean-Comfortable-Secure"
Cool old renovated hotel over a store. Much like many old European hotels but with free wi-fi and nice new televisions. Very convenient to bus, metro and Downtown.
"Great Budget Stay in Montreal"
Our stay at Hotel Stay Centre Ville was just as expected. Yes, it was very basic hotel with basic amenities, but the customer service experience from Giovanni and his staff was exceptional. Thank you so much for myself and my friends very welcomed and for all your wealth of information! We will definitely be staying here again.
"Visiter from NYC area"
Room was small, was very clean and with a nice decor. Greta value will stay there again.
"Hotel Stay Centre Ville"
Hotel Stay Center Ville had a perfect location right next to the subway and a short walk from the Latin Quarter. There isn't much parking nearby and we had to settle for a lot that was 5 blocks away and $15/day. The rooms were cute and european- my only complaint being that there was no thermostat in the room, or way to control the temperature (though […] it was almost right). Read more
"Hotel Stay Centre Ville- perfect for young couple."
This hotel was really cute. You might be hesitant about the hotel signage, but the inside is well maintained and very cute. It has steep stairwells, but overall location and relative size of the room was perfect for a few day stay. It was located a half a block from the train and walkable distance to a grocery store and restaurants.
"Dozens of restaurants and bars nearby"
This hotel was extremely cozy and met my expectations. If you plan to book a room here make sure to bring toiletries and towels. The only complaint I have is that hotel staff was not readily available. So once they left for the day you had to find a solution to your problem. And since it does not look like they have a cleaning staff the bathroom shower […] stall was not the cleanest. So bring flip flops with you! Aside from that I was pleased. There was plenty of things to do nearby and the owner was quite pleasant and friendly. Read more

"Cheap & Clean"
For something cheap and clean this is your place. However, we had a room right by the street, and there was noise all through the night. The rooms are small, and the beds are not that comfortable, but it serves its purpose. Don't expect any bells or whistles!

"Good for couples not looking for luxury."
All rooms only have one bed and are small...however the people are friendly, rooms are clean and bathrooms are well kept and relatively new, not over the top..but great for a couple on a weekend getaway.
"Central Location"
Small hotel located in the gay section. Short walk to most points of interest. Very friendly and helpful staff. Not fancy but adequate.
"Best hotel near downtown Montreal!"
This was easily the best hotel stay I've ever had in Montreal, it was affordable, clean, and close to everything! We rarely had to take the metro because everything was so walkable. It is definitely the hotel for anyone who doesn't drive into Montreal. The hotel is located 500 metres from the bus station, which means the neighborhood can be a little […] sketchy, but other than that everything was awesome. And the hotel staff were friendly and efficient, always available. They even have a phone for making local calls! Over all I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Montreal for a weekend (or longer). Read more

"Completely satisfied for the price!"
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights over 4th of July weekend. For the low price we paid, we were not expecting much. We were very pleasantly surprised! This hotel is perfect for couples! Though, I wouldn’t stay here as a family, the hotel is better geared for young people (mostly due to the location). The room was very clean and modern, though […] not huge. Air conditioning was working very well, which was key in 90+ degree weather that weekend. Refrigerator was nice to have, though please note that the free water bottles are in the lobby and will not be in your room. The location is amazing, with St Catherine street parallel and St Dennis street only 2 blocks away. The Metro station connecting you to 3 different Metro lines was just a block away. It’s a young and hip area of Montreal that still felt very safe. We ended up parking for free for the duration of the trip. There are 2 parking spots next to the hotel that are free to park in for an unlimited amount of time (thanks owner for telling us!). Nights and Sundays are free to park anywhere. If you're not lucky enough to catch one of these spots, there are several parking lots near the hotel that you can park at for a daily fee. The best part of our experience was the amazing service at this hotel! At check-in, the man at the front desk (who is the owner) asked us if we needed any help or advice with exploring Montreal. Since we were completely clueless about what to do in Montreal, he broke out a couple of maps and brochures and spent 30 minutes telling us what we need to do. We told us about the sites we need to see, about current events in Montreal, and how to get to all of these places. We planned our 3 days there completely by his advice, and did not regret it. After having mediocre meals for 2 days, we finally asked him where to go for breakfast and dinner, and he led us to the best food of the trip by far! In my opinion, you really can’t beat this hotel’s value for the price. Read more
"Clean tourist hotel in convenient noisy location"
The hotel was nice enough and very clean but the air conditioning was set at a polar bear friendly temperature which we had no ability to change. We tried to leave our window open to improve the temperature but this turned out to be difficult because across the street is a very popular Quebec bar with loud music and louder patrons until about 2 am. […] It was a good thing we had earplugs because we really needed them. The location was great, less than a block from both the central metro station and bus station, the area a bit seedy but within walking distance of just about everything. Read more
"Hotel Stay in Montreal, CA"
This was by far one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in in all of Europe and USA. No lift which for two elderly people with heart conditions was very challenging- no ice machine for cooler, dumpy little room with a chair you couldn't sit in and ever get out of again. Neighborhood had drunks lying in doorways sleeping, no parking except two blocks […] down the street for which we paid $20.00 for one night. No one managing desk on the morning we check ed out. We forgot something and came back but could not get anyone on the phone or by knocking at the door. Finally remembered code to get in but noone answered bell at desk., Curtains in the room were coming off the rod and you could not close them to shut out street lights. To get to breakfast room, one had to go from third floor down to lobby and then back up 20 steps to the breakfast room on the second floor. Breakfast room was the size of a closet with one very small table and three chairs which were occupied so we left and got breakfast on the road., The hotel appearred to have been recently painted and things were clean, at least. but this place is an absolute dump and for the amount we paid we could have stayed at a first class hotel closer to the old city but we discoverd this too late. "Excellent place to stay. Perfect location"
I was a little scared at first after reading the older reviews. However, this place was clean and perfectly located near the restaurants and Jazz festival. I would stay here again. The price was perfect and the concierge filled us in on all the events in the area that weekend. We parked on the side street next to the hotel and did not have to pay a […] dime for parking for the long weekend July 4. Read more
"Hotel Stay in Montreal"
Good prices, clean and cute rooms, more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel - very personable and helpful hosts, very close to the Montreal Metro (subway) so convenient for getting around the city. I would definitely stay there again and recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

"Quaint, clean, good for the price"
The hotel was clean and the service was great. Because the hotel is so small, there's a friendly and quaint feel to the place you wouldn't get at a big commercial hotel. The rooms were nicely decorated, although extremely small, but its expected for the cheap price- same with the lack of amenities. Its location is excellent: right next to Berri-UQUAM, […] the central metro station, so it saved us lots of taxi money. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Read more
"Wonderful experience!"
This is a great hotel and the staff was very friendly. It's two blocks from the Greyhound Terminal and three blocks from a great strip of restauraunts and entertainment on Rue Denis. It's also a block away from a subway station and is one subway stop from Old Montreal or a 10-15 minute walk. I would definitely stay here again.

"Friendly, casual"
The hoteliers were welcoming and friendly. We picked this hotel because we like places that don't look like they've been pressed out of a cookie cutter. This is the place for people who don't need a lot of amenities, prefer off the beaten path, and don't expect to be le grande consummer. The hotel was very clean and the decor fresh. It is a few short […] blocks from Saint Denis, and on the same block as a really great little Vietnamese restaurant. It's a few blocks from the Greyhound station. This is a place for the young or young-at-heart. Breakfast consisted of croissants, coffee, chocolate and fruit. The WI-FI requires that you get a new password everyday, but when The beds is comfy, and the mini-fridge adds an extra convenience, why sweat the small stuff? One thing to mention, the parking is only free if you're staying from 9pm to 8am. If you plan to stay longer, you might want to want to park your car at the paid parking lot one block down. It was $20 a 24-hour day as of Nov. 2009. But even with that added cost the Stay was still a bargain. We will definately book again. Read more
"Wouldn't stay anywhere else!"
My husband and I stayed here for about a week and I am so glad we did. The price was right. The owners were friendly and helpful - couldn't have asked for better hosts. Just a few feet from the metro, which will get you about anywhere. The hotel felt safe and clean, I liked that it had only 12 (or 13?) rooms and that the front door stays locked at all […] times. A few "head's up"s: 1. Be sure to bring your own shampoo/etc. There was a re-fillable container in our shower, but it stayed empty. The only "toiletry" provided is handsoap. 2. If you like having a bit more space, spend the extra couple dollars for a large room - they have plenty of room - including a chair, table, closet, dresser. 3. The road that the hotel is on isn't a quiet road. I found it a little hard to relax with the window open because of the street noise. But, with the window closed, it got a bit stuffy... This is just a personal preference, I love to be in quiet, peaceful locations... it doesn't really have anything to do with the quality of the hotel, and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Montreal, but it is good to know before you go.
