"All things considered, a great experience."
Bahia Chac Chi was a great place to stay where the benefits far outweigh the small drawbacks. The drawbacks: Breakfast is absolutely terrible. It's bad even for a continental breakfast. And they served past due yogurt for a couple of the days we were there. The location is excellent and involves no stress getting there - it's a quick and easy walk from the ferry dock (you can see the building from the boat as you're coming over!). However, if having a water/ocean facing view is important, I would not necessarily recommend the place. Our room had a bay view not an ocean view. So it wasn't quite so breathtaking or refreshing. The gasoline smell and noise of the busiest street on the island is just below. It's not conducive to sitting out on your balcony and relaxing. The AC was really noisey and the front desk clerk that works the morning shift is basically useless as far providing basic concierge service (providing tourist suggestions that aren't canned, knowledge of English, solving problems). Finally, the wifi was not great during standard waking hours, but we're finding that to be a problem everywhere as we travel through the rest of the Yucatan. Other than that, everything else is a positive. The beds are majorly comfortable and very clean. The bathroom is satisfactory. It's easy to get everywhere on the island from the hotel. And they replace the water bottles in your room with every cleaning visit.

BRING EARPLUGS! Was a great stay other then constant traffic all night long. We had read the previous reviews and so we brought ear plugs and had no problem. Great location. One block to the right off of the ferry. Walked to beach and all the good restaurants and shopping. Can only get wifi in lobby.

"worst of 5 trips to Isla Mujares"
We have been to Isla 4 times prior to this trip and this was the first time we left early. Hotel pics are not accurate, not close to beach, pool sucks as it has 4 tall walls next to it allowing for maybe 1 hour sun per day. Rooms very sterile, no warmth at all. 2 out of 5 staff we met were nice.

This hotel was fantastic: beautiful rooms, views, and helpful staff. I had to use their business lounge to try to work out some kinks in our travel plans, and it worked nicely. The only real issue was he inconsistent and generally aggravating WiFi access, which had decent signal strength in the room, but virtually none on the balcony, and which rarely actually allowed an internet connection. Some network optimization is definitely in order.

"Overpriced"
Nothing impressive, room very small. Bathroom shower heads were rusty. Lady in the front desk on check out was not helpful, asked her if she could give me a bag and said she didnt have any. THe breakfast lounge is in the lobby and this whole area is opened to the street so it can be uncomfortable to eat breakfast because there is no AC, and plenty of flies eating that eat your food and sting. The only nice thing is the beach view. I paid 50 bucks in the Smart Oasis hotel in cancun and it was superior.

"Isla Mujeres Holiday"
Hotel is 1 block away from ferry. Great location. Staff was friendly and all spoke English. I chose pool view room, happy I did cause the sea view rooms were facing the noisy street. Rooms were decent, no frills-could of used some art work to liven up the stark white walls but it was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Beds were comfy. My only complaint is that when people were walking by my room, I could here everyone's conversation, maybe thin walls? AC was ice cold, a plus since it was so hot and humid outside. Hotel offered free breakfast from 7:30-9am but I never made it to sample. Make sure to turn in your keys at the end of your stay...I duchy know so I left mine in room so they made me wait until they had someone run up to see if room keys were there. Um, they were just ordinary plastic room keys; not an actual key. Pool was small but after being in the hot sun all day, it was refreshing. They make you put down a cash deposit for pool towels though it gets returned when you bring them back, just little bit of an inconvenience. Won't let it be charged to room. Also, all incidentals must be paid I cash-peso so make sure to bring lots of cash. All in all, was a good stay and I would recommend

"Good and bad...."
Upon arrival in our room, there was no air and an odor of fried food. Your (sole) room key card controls the lights and air, so if you leave the room, the air will not be running. We asked for an extra key card so the room would be cool when we came back-the lady at the front desk was hesitant, but did give us an extra key card. The pool was very clean; continental breakfast was not very good; bed was semi-comfortable....pillows were terrible! The lady at the front desk called and arranged to have a golf cart delivered to the hotel for us (for traveling the island). When there was anything else needed, staff was friendly and very helpful!

This is a great option if you can get it for a good price. Very comfortable but not extravagant; definitely more "American-style" than other hotels on Isla. Get a room with a balcony, it's worth it. "We enjoyed our stay!"
Super friendly staff, nice facility, felt very safe, great location--we walked everywhere. Room was spacious, very clean, nice firm beds, nice ocean breeze with our bay view room, nice continental breakfast in open patio. Street noise-the traffic was annoying for this small island, we did get used to it however. Only feedback for Expedia is to clarify age and rate for child, we had accounted for our 17-year old online, but the front desk clerk stated there was a mistake, at first we thought they would charge us, but in the end, they did not, which was very nice of them. So hopefully Expedia will step-up! If we go back, we will stay at the Bahia Chac Chi again.

"Great hotel!"
Just a few minutes walk from the best beaches, Hotel Bahia Chac Chi also costs less than on-beach hotels. I actually like the location--just a short distance from the ferry dock. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. My room was bright and clean, with a balcony with a fantastic view of the bay! Breakfast was modest, but sufficient--cereal, toast, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee and juice. I never used the little swimming pool, but it looked like a good idea for those wanting to get in out of the sun. They provide free beach towels and water, which come in very handy. The only down side is there is traffic noise, but for me it was such a constant din I was able to sleep right through it. This is my new go-to hotel in Isla Mujeres!

"Quiet trip made perfect (or almost)"
The staff here at the hotel is the best staff of any hotel we have stayed at. Friendly, helpful, fun, and just plain warm are words that come to mind. "We would like to go on a tour", done, " we would like a cart for the day" done. Where do we snorkel, done..These guys were great. The rooms clean, (everyday) cool and comfortable. We loved the open front of the hotel and the ocean, places to eat, shop and drink all within 4 blocks. It was our first time to the island but we had friends that have been coming here for over 10 years and they even said it was a great place. Watched new guest come in and the staff hug them because they were returning again. Where do you get that kind of service and care?

"Hotel overlooking the bay and close to downtown"
The hotel is clean with friendly staff. The rooms are a good size, with very nice bathrooms. Get a room overlooking the bay to have a nice view of the water. The only downside is it's on a very trafficked road, so sitting out on your room's balcony isn't incredibly peaceful. Hotel is walking distance to downtown Isla Mujeres and Playa Norte.

"Middle of everything."
Hotel is in the middle of all the island has to offer. Only a few blocks from the ferry which is really a jet ferry that holds 200 people and takes only 15 mins. to get from Cancun. Shops everywhere. Restaurants everywhere. Nobody speaks English anywhere. Very expensive to eat and drink and there are no grocery stores on the island. I assume they do that so you have to patronize the local eateries which are the back yards of about half the population. No fast food. They nail you with dollars, so only use Pesos. Everything closes at 11:00 PM some close at 5:00 Pm. Lots of Latin American and European visitors. Very family friendly. Lots of couples. Singles, forget it. The traffic is horrendous and they will run you down if your not careful when crossing the street. And yes, this island has lots of cars.

"Great hotel!!!"
We booked the hotel for 3 night initially but ended up extending our stay for 1 night more. The hotel is right near the ferry terminal from cancún so you u can jsut walk to it. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are very comfortable and the stuff is great. The wifi is decent , much better than we used to get in other places. We stayed at a room with a bay view and it was great, do notice that the side facing the bay is more noisy as it faces the main street. You can close the windows and then you don't hear a thing thought and past 7PM the street becomes quote empty. The location is great - within walking distance to the palaya Norte and all the bars and restaurants. The only bad thing I have to point out is the breakfast which wasn't too great. Bottom line - great hotel and superb value for money!

"Nice spot with a great view!"
Could see the hotel from a half mile out on the Ultramar ferry. Easy two minute walk from the boat. It isn't on the water side, but just across the street. Pay for the Bay View and get a high floor. The view of the bay is awesome. Huge sliding glass doors open up completely, and you're out on the balcony (which had three nice chairs) and the breeze blows right into the room. The only time we closed the doors was between four and six or so, when the sun was setting and it got too hot. A half hour before sunset, we opened the doors up and enjoyed the show. Nice walk in showers with plenty of hot water. The WIFi worked just OK, but was free so that was good. iPhone WiFi worked pretty well. The room was VERY clean--all hard surfaces, no carpet--and the maid service was excellent every day. Breakfast was included and basic but adequate. Cereal, fruit, toast, OK coffee, orange juice. The street noise is definitely there, but I used a white noise app on my phone and slept great. Ice is free for your room or a cooler to go. Bring a soft sided cooler for beach drinks! Golf cart was handled by the front desk and delivered right to the room. $54/day for the 24 hour option. We did it for two days and were glad we did. The day option was $45 and only from 9a-5p. Well worth the extra nine bucks to get the 24 hours. Easy five minute walk to HidalgoSt.--the main drag for restaurants, shopping, etc. Hidalgo is OOK, the go local for a cheaper but nice night out.

"Hussle and Bussle"
This is a newer hotel located right on the busiest street on the island. It's a pretty noisy place! We were there during Carnaval 3/1 thru 3/5. Dance groups periodically stopped at the hotel throughout this time in the afternoons and evenings and did their thing (think flash mob with costumes). At other times, normal traffic noise was pretty high. The noise tends to echo around all the hard tile surfaces of the hotel as well. We got used to the noise after a while and all the activity had its own charm and interest. The bed was pretty cheap/lumpy but again we seemed to get used to it and didn't have much trouble sleeping. This should be considered a home base type of hotel. There is really nothing to do here but sleep and shower. The beach is about a 3 block hike to the north. Lots of great restaurants, shops, scooter and golf carts rentals, tour operators, etc. are within easy walking distance. We had a nice view of the ocean from the balcony but it was too noisy and exposed to the afternoon sun to spend a lot of time on. The pool is 100% shaded and the water was too cool for us to use but we spent at the beach instead, so, no big deal. Overall I recommend the hotel with the caveat that it be use as a home base for exploring the island not to be confused with a resort type of hotel. The island itself we found pretty interesting and gave a good taste of Mexican culture. Seafood choices dominate most restaurant menus and it seemed to be mostly locally caught and very fresh.
