Except for a previous customer's dirty socks (reason for the "1") that were left under the pull out sofa, the rooms were clean and as expected. Given that it was Fasnacht, the hotel offered a reasonable room at a reasonable cost and I was able to book only two nights instead of 3 or 4 as required at other Basel hotels. The hotel was convenient for driving with parking below and was close to tram and bus stops. The staff was not very helpful. My guess is that they were transplants from other regions and weren't informed about the city. In an effort to answer questions, they did nothing more than to read the copied printouts of information provided by the hotel.

This wonderful Gasthof has a great restaurant and the room was huge, even for the triple. The accommodations were clean and the staff was really helpful! Definitely doing this place again on a motorcycle tour.

Somewhat hard to find off the beaten tracks. Typical old German, family owned and operated hopitality. Not very fancy room, but great breakfast and friendly service. We enjoyed the stay.

Angenehme Athmosphäre im Hotel. Sehr zu betonen ist die Freundlichkeit des ganzen Personals, von der Rezeption über den Service im Restaurant bis hin zu den Zimmerdamen. Vorallem das Essen war TOP! Zimmer sind sehr gepflegt und sauber, wenn auch schon etwas älter. Hotel liegt ziemlich in der Höhe umgeben von viel Grün. Zum erholen und abschalten idial. Når vi kom frem til hotellet ble vi møtt av en låst dør, og en beskjed på tysk at det var fridag, og restaurangen var stengt....lenger leste ikke vi. Det viste seg at lenger ned sto det at vi kunne få nøkkel utlevert ..........Heldigvis kom det en belgisk gjest som kunne fortelle oss at vi ville få nøkkelen utlevert på et annet hotel 2 km lenger opp […] i veien. Vi kjørte opp der, fikk nøkkelen og beskjed om rommet var reservert for en person (men vår bekreftede bestilling var for to personer). Vi fikk og en kode for hotellets WLAN., med beskjed om at det kun var forbindelse i resepsjonen, mens på Hotel.com webside sier at alle rom har wifi. Men, det virket ikke i resepsjonen heller. Middag spiste ved på et hotel ved siden av Gruner Baum, det var helt ok. Men, når det er sagt så var rommet helt utmerket, frokosten likeså. Ved utsjekking virket ikke noen kredittkort (vi prøvde fire forskjellige), men heldigvis hadde vi kontanter. Kraftg støy fra veien utenfor, men med stengte vinduer gikk det bra. I stayed 2 days on business and had checked if an internet service was available - however it was not available in my room and in the restaurant it was so slow, that I could not use it. Ich hatte auf meiner Reise in den Süden, den Zwischenstop im Vitalhotel Grüner Baum geplant. Ich wurde sehr nett aufgenommen, Zimmer war sauber, Bad auch, das Essen war sehr lecker und zu moderaten Preisen. Frühstücksbuffet war ausreichend, wenn auch die Auswahl nicht übermäßig war. Sauna und Dampfbad werden nur angemacht wenn ein Gast es wünscht, was […] ja umwelttechnisch auch durchaus Sinn macht. Mein Zimmer ging direkt zur Straße raus, das war ein wenig schade, aber Häuser mit nur einer Häuserwand gibt es kaum :-) Irgendjemand mußte ja nun nach vorne ins Zimmer. Alles im allem war ich sehr zufrieden und werde wohl bei meiner nächsten Reise in den Süden wieder dort einkehren. Read more
