"would happily stay here again"
Quiet location, although banging doors can be a bit of a problem. Unfortunately I was unwittingly guilty of that until I got the hang of remembering that the door closers are very effective. Close to the main tourist areas of Reykjavik but without the people traffic. A number of things were difficult to reach for a vertically challenged person like […] myself and I actually had to stand on a chair to get crockery from the higher shelves. A very clean place, with pleasant staff. Would definitely recommend this place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great choice for Reykjavik"
Great value for money in pricey reykjavik. ..the apartment has a full kitchen equipped with all the items you'd need. Peaceful yet central location. Clean and smart. Excellent all round.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great spot. Very helpful staff. Very clean and tidy.Genuine Expedia guest review
We arrived mid afternoon and had to ring ourselves into a very small lobby type area and get a key which was left in an envelope with our name on it from a shelf. We might expect that late at night but not in the afternoon. A staff person did call just after we got into the room but was very unfriendly and quite curt. It felt like we were being watched...rather […] eerie! Room was clean but quite crowded. It did not live up to "luxury" status by any means. i.e. pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable, a sofa bed was advertised and available but no room to pull it out. Size would suite a single person more than a couple. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Comfort close to city centre."
I arrived to a very clean room with every amenity that I needed and then some. Although it was very late and I had forgotten the instructions there was a quick pickup at the other end of the phone and all was easily sorted for me to get into my room! A clean bathroom and real shower - although the amount of water on the floor from using it is a something […] to mop up. A kitchenette that had all the necessities! A clean and comfy bed, sofa, and table and chairs. The first bed on this trip that 2 would be comfortable in. Wifi reception was tricky in my corner, unit 61. The sofa means the unit could accomodate 3 but that would be very, very tight with luggage! The national art gallery is right here for an easy visit. This hotel is on the lists for airport shuttles too.The attractions of Reykjavik are all within easy walking distance, I walked all over.Bakeries and grocery are nearby also. I was very happy with my stay here and highly recommend the Castle House! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great apt in Great location"
Very nice apt. small kitchen but fully equipped and adequate. Well designed bath with shower doors that expand and fold in. Excellent location. Steps from the National Gallery of Iceland. Pay them a visit. Shopping street is 2 blocks away and there is a 24 hour food market.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The apartment has all that you need for a stay in Reykjavik: a kitchen that is well-supplied, a comfy bed, an adjustable shower, and more. The place was immaculate and stylishly decorated. I arrived very late (2a.m.) and still received prompt and very courteous customer service!! I would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Clean, comfortable and convenient!"
We stayed at Castle House twice during our recent visit to Iceland, the first stay in a larger suite and for the second stay we had a smaller studio. Both units were great. The first suite, #40, was spacious and well appointed while the second, #62, while small and still well appointed, was very cozy and suited our needs perfectly. The units were well […] equipped with mini kitchens providing all necessary utensils, appliances incl microwave, cooktop, fridge, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, etc as well as nice dishes and cutlery, all in good repair. The beds were comfortable, the linens fresh and clean. The heated bathroom floor and towel rail were a nice treat! All furnishings and walls, including rugs and tables, were stain free and suited the spaces provided. Extra pillows, blankets, iron, fan, etc in room should they be required. Original art on the walls was very tasteful and painted by one of the owners/staff. Windows were large and opened for fresh air, which was super. The location is just behind a church on Lake Tjornin, super convenient for short walks to Old Harbour, restaurants, grocery stores, and Harpa concert hall, and is also close to the bus terminal. Any inquiries we had were answered quickly and in a friendly manner from the staff, both before and during our stay. We would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Good location near centre"
Great location within walking distance of centre but away from noise! Blackout blinds were essential in summer. Room serviced every day, but able to self cater for breakfast as fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster. Good value and would stay there againGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient downtown hotel."
This is really a serviced apartment as opposed to a hotel, but the rooms are nice and the location in downtown Reykjavik can't be beat. You can walk to most things of interest from here including tourist attractions, restaurants, and shopping.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Very affordable, excellent Reykjavik apartment"
We stayed in Apt 90 at Embassy Luxury Apartments. We arrived around 5pm and pressed the button for the intercom. Upon speaking to someone, the main entrance was buzzed to allow us to enter. In the hallway, we found the one of several envelopes with our names on it. Inside were the keys and a piece of paper with information. The information in the envelope […] stated that we should expect a call within a short time after our arrival to inquire about how we found things and if there were any questions. We stayed in the apartment for about 3 hours after our arrival and never got the call. We probably didn't need to speak with anyone, as everything was in order and we had adequate information about what to do and where to go. For the location, being so close to the main part of downtown Reykjavik, and the excellence of the facilities, this is a very affordable apartment. The two twin beds are comfortable, and the living area/dining area is roomy. There is a two-element cooktop and an approximately 3 cubic foot refrigerator with a small freezer compartment. There are two wi-fi networks, one with and one without a password. Both were speedy, though signal strength was weak in the bedroom. The television is equipped with satellite and has a number of english-language channels. This 2nd floor apartment has stairs-only access. We were able to easily find free parking on a nearby street for our car. Parking on the street in front of the apartment requires payment. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Well located and comfortable, not 'luxury' though"
We liked the location and having a small kitchen to prepare breakfast. However, it was rather small, especially the minuscule bathroom/shower area. Beds were too soft. Everything was generally fine but I am not sure where they got the ‘luxury’ tag from.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Central, convenient, well equipped, friendly"
Great location right next door to the national gallery and within very easy walking distance of the harbour, some really good restaurants and museums. The level of information provided before you get there is superb and makes for a very easy arrival. The room was perfect for three nights away - we had a studio, number 62, and it was ideal. The bed was […] a little on the softer side for our liking, but for 3 nights was fine. The value for money with this place is excellent. We have already recommended it to our friends. We were in apartment 10 which was great. Super location, excellent service and lovely, warm apartment. If we went back to Reykjavik we would definitely stay there again. Freyja - apartment owner v helpful especially as we had problems with hotel. "Comfortable and roomy apartment, well located"
Much better than a hotel. Lots of room - good sized bedroom, large living room with dining table, desk, sofa, coffee table, large TV and free wireless internet. "Perfect base for Reykjavik"
This place is a perfect base for exploring Reykjavik. We really didn't make as much use of it as we should have, we only stayed there twice, one night each before and after driving around Iceland. If we had known how good it was we would have added four days, stayed there and done a number of things around the city. The only problem was parking the […] car, but in practice we were able to park on the premises so even this was not a problem but there is only unofficial space for one car to do that. No car, no problem. A lovely, quiet, romantic place close to the lake and good restaurants. Totally recommended. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The bed is a little soft to my liking. The floor board is rickety and we were awaken twice, at 1am and 4am from the noises above our room, on 2 of the nights. Otherwise, this is a great place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Arrived and had everything crossed that it would be as good as boasted. Not disappointed at all. Stayed in a small but well appointed self contained studio in the garden of the main property (room 62 I think). It was so convenient, both in location and also the fact we could come and go whenever we wanted. Would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very central location, great size."
A great self catering apartment, very close to the main shopping / eating / drinking areas. The tour companies pick up from the apartments also. Very handy for the late night tours as the bus station is a good walk away.Genuine Expedia guest review
We stayed at this accommodation in March. We were unable to stay at the first apartment for the full stay of our holiday and were notified we would have to move to their other building across town for 2 of our 7 night stay. We were disappointed initially but this was dealt with exceptionally well and didn't inconvenience us at all. We packed our belongings […] and the staff moved everything for us. Both apartments were absolutely spotless, the area was quiet and we had all the extras and comfort we required. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Perfect self-catering in the centre of Reyjkavik"
We arrived in Reyjkavik, landing in a slushy snowstorm, and got to our apartment by bus transfer from the airport. We were delighted with the apartment - it was spotless, elegantly furnished and the kitchen excellently equipped. A very welcoming touch was a container of milk already in the fridge which we used for our tea. The bathroom floor was heated, […] allowing our cold feet some much needed warmth, and definitely added a luxury touch to our stay. Plenty of information and a map of Reykjavik was on our table which we used to enjoy a lovely couple of days exploring the city. We would like to return and would book at Castle House again in an instant. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice, comfortable, convenient."
A great place to stay in Reykjavik: a small, comfortable, well located, very clean and well maintained apartment in a large building. You don't see/meet the owners/hosts much: our interaction was entirely remote/internet, but they are very responsive and provided an abundance of information via email and documentation left in the room.Genuine Expedia guest review
I had 2 nights in a hotel, and 2 nights in these serviced apartments. The hotel i stayed in was marginally more central and quite chic. however, i really enjoy both comfort AND independance and i think the Embassy Luxury Apartments were the right fit for me. I was travelling alone with 4 days in Reykjavic and the apartment was the perfect size and state […] for myself, or indeed a couple. There were more than adequate facilities and the Embassy area of Reykjavic was one of the more leafy areas so rather a nice retreat after a day of treking through icy winds.I would def recommend staying in this accomodation which was a bargain as well compared to many hotels. Eating out can be expensive and travelling alone its nice to be able to cook your own food. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Comfortable apartment in a great location"
We stayed here for 3 nights. We had a studio apartment off the garden out the back. It was comfortable, very clean and compact. We did not use the self contained kitchenette and there was little room to cook anyway. The bathroom was small as was the main room. The bed was very comfortable but the room was quite stuffy at night. We didn't use heating […] at all although it was temperature ranges of 7-11 when we were there in July. The room was always very warm. These apartments are in a great position, right near the lake and an easy walk into town. Room Tip: The studio apartments off the garden are easy to access and quiet. "Great independent apartments"
This is the second time I have stayed with these hosts, last time at Castle House and this time at Embassy Apartments. They are really well set up and maintained, with incredibly helpful hosts. A bowl of fruit saved having to buy breakfasts for a 3 day stay. Very close to town and a short walk to the university. The wifi worked fine in the lounge, but […] not in the bedroom in my apartment. "Great location, very clean & well appointed"
We stayed in apartment 30. It was comfortable and had everything you'd need and more. 2 things to note: from the bedroom you hear noise from the next flat because their bathroom & kitchen is on the other side of teh wall so if you can chose, book flat 20 instead + the satellite TV was not working (not a big deal as we were out & about all day). We only stayed in this place 1 night but would gladly stay here again. "Great Stay At The Embasssy"
We stayed at the Embassy Luxury Apartments for three nights from the 26th March. Tour buses pick up and drop off directly outside. It is a short walk to the harbour and town centre. We stayed in apartment 110 which has it’s own front door outside. It is a partially basement apartment. You go down a few steps to enter. Looking out the windows you are […] looking out a little above ground level. Heating was on 24 hours a day with ample hot water. The kitchen is a good size with everything you could ask for if you want to cook meals. The lounge has two large leather sofa’s and a single leather chair. I believe one of the sofa’s converts to a bed. A large coffee table is central and a smaller one between the two sofa’s. There is a cordless phone with it’s own telephone number. You can receive calls and make calls within Iceland free of charge. Other calls are chargeable. Wi-fi is also included and worked without any problems. There is a 42 inch flat screen television with DVD player and satellite system. All the staff were friendly and helpful and the apartment was cleaned daily and items replenished. We booked through www.hotel.com and got a price which we thought was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Clean, Comfortable and Convenient"
We stayed in room 100 of the Embassy Apartments in June 2012. It was very well maintained and cleaned and fresh towels supplied every day. Large pleasant rooms. Shower cubicle was tiny but contained a good powerful shower. Complimentary coffee /tea and sugar supplied and restocked each day. Security was below average, but I'm not going to specify the […] minor weaknesses in security in a public review. In any case, the crime rate in Iceland is very low and we didn't have any problems.
