This is a great place to stay. You are right at the doorstep of the city, everything is within walking distance. It's great to have a kitchen right in your suite because food can get expensive in Iceland. The staff was very nice, they let us check in early and check out late to accommodate our flights. Can't say enough good things about this place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very close to Reyjavik city center for activities"
On Embassy Row?! quiet, very convenient location close to Reykjavik city center, nice(!) neighborhood, clean, apartment was very reasonable price, lots of helpful info on surroundings and transportation options to airport etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice little apartment"
A nice little apartment very close to downtown. The extra kitchen space allowed us to cook breakfast and save some $ (food is very expensive in Iceland). Just make sure you know what complex you are staying in before you get dropped off! (They are in 2 different locations). Clean, well maintained and friendlyGenuine Hotels.com guest review

What a charming town. The hotel was only a few blocks from the city center in a quiet neighborhood. Weekends are out of control and noisy in the city center so this was very appreciated. the company has 2 locations. We were originally booked in one then they changed us to another. this caused problems with tour pick-up and getting to the right hotel […] the first night. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is very comfortable, well appointed, and has charming helpful people working there. It is in city centre so we were able to walk everywhere, including the grocery store. The kitchen has everything that you need for basic cooking. We would definitely go back!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good, high-quality accomodations"
The Embassy House Apartments are a good, safe, alternative to a high cost downtown hotel. The staff were very eager to do what they could to ensure we had everything we needed to be comfortable and pleased. The only improvements that could have been made were in the size of the bed (we had reserved a king bed room, and got something equivalent to a […] small queen--which was fine up until we got sunburned at the Lagoon!) There are two locations, make sure you know which you are truly in so you can keep from walking the 7 plus blocks to get to the proper location! And don't listen to any one trying to tell you you need to check in somewhere else! ONLY listen to the instructions provided by Embassy House! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Just the basics in a great location"
We stayed in a small unit in the garden area - just one room with tiny kitchen and small bath. The shower drain was slow and the hot water could get scalding quickly. Everything was clean, even if the mattress was getting old. Location next to the Thornin and just a few blocks to the city center was perfect. We easily found street parking and walked […] around the city center and the bay. Great place for a couple nights as a base in Reykjavik. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Lovely stay in small but very clean and warm apartment. The owners were very helpful and quickly drove over to open my door when I dropped my keys just inside the door before shutting it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great place to stay"
Well equipped, clean, good value, excellent location in the city centre but not near the noisy clubs and pubs. We really liked having the separate kitchen and dining area. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others. Only negative was that the queen-sized bed in our apartment was a bit small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place to stay"
The apartments were excellent but I did get confused as I booked two and the Castle Apartment was ten minutes walk from the Embassy apartments. Great location, quiet street only a few minutes walk from town or the pond. Clean, well equipped spacious apartment (we were in the basement 110). Excellent communications and advice from Freya (the owner) before and during our stay. Would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent, highly recommend"
Really comfortable, enjoyable stay. The hotel was cleaned daily and fresh towels when you wanted. The owners and staff could not do enough for us and provided very useful information prior to our stay and on arrival. The apartment is in an ideal location, close to the centre with convenience stores only a couple of minutes walk away, but not too close […] to the centre as to be disturbed by noise. "Excellent apartment in the perfect location"
We arrived late in the evening but this wasn,t a problem. Instructions were clear and on arrival the entry door was opened remotely and our key was waiting for us. Shortly after we entered the apartment we had a welcoming call from Freyja. We had complementary tea and coffee waiting for us which was most welcome. The apartment was very clean and warm, […] spacious and the decor was modern and tasteful. The kitchen was very well equipped and the beds were extremely comfortable. The apartments were well soundproofed and we never heard our neighbours. We were very impressed with the information that was emailed to us prior to our visit and the free wifi. We also had the use of the telephone for local calls which was great for booking restaurants and checking on our Northern Lights tour. The apartment was serviced everyday and Freyja was at the end of the phone if we needed anything but that wasn't necessary. Couldn't fault the apartment at all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The appartment is in a very good location, quiet yet close to downtown Reyjavik therefore convenient for local attractions and tour operators for excursions. "Nice apartment in perfect location"
Great location. Comfortable apartment with neat little kitchen. Cheap parking right across the road (£2 for 48 hours).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
both Castle and Embassy apartment's are good locations for the centre of the city, We stayed at the Embassy apartments which are an easy 5 min walk into the square, harbour and start of man shopping streets - even in the heavy snow we had ! The apartment's are of a very good size which more than adequate kitchen facilities for those wanting to self […] cater. Heating is good and thee is good TV / Satellite system but no TV in the bedroom and I feel the lighting could have been a little softer as it is quite "hard" however this is a minor matter and a personal opinion. All in all great location, quiet area and good facilities. If you use the Fly Bus you can walk to either apartment in about 15/20 mins, though for a smal extra fee you can get do t door service but make sure which apartment you are staying in a thy are 10 mins apart. Apartment in great location 5 mins walk to the town square, restaurants and supermarket. It was well fitted, very warm and cleaned everyday. Loved the apartment, very handy to cook basic meals. Well stocked with utensils. The heated towel rack was sooo good it dried our washing quickly as there was no laundry in Reykjavik, that we found. The Castle House apartments are right by the lake, so a lovely view to come out to every morning. They are lovely inside and perfect for our stay with everything that we needed. Clean and very good located small apartment suitable for 2 people on a short stay. Though it advertises could sleep 3, the apartment will be too small for that. "VERY NICE APARTMENT CLOSE TO CENTER"
I would certainly recommend the apartments to any of my friends. They are nice and spacious, cozy and very comfortable. The bathroom is a bit small (room 60) but apart from that I had zero issues. It is close to town and easy to find behind the church. I found the service to be very good -lots of information emails before I arrived.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Apartment better than my own flat"
The apartment is about 6 minutes walk from the restaurants and iceland expeditions centre making it a great location. The rooms are nicely furnished, it's spacious and clean. "Very clean and close to downtown amenities."
We booked the Castle Luxury Apt and thought we were getting downtown for three nights while in Iceland. We viewed the site on Expedia and thought we had picked the perfect spot! "Convenient location without the noise"
Stayed for two nights at the end of a tour around the country and it was nice change from the standard Icelandic small rooms. The apartment had a open dining/sitting area with room to move around in, kitchen facilities and even a little balcony (although unused due to Reykjavik's rain). Was a little bit uncertain about the check-in via buzzer set up […] with no real contact with management but there were no problems and all went very smoothly, with keys and lots of detailed information provided. Being on a little side street behind a church, it was nice to be within close walking distance to all the dining/pubs/shopping but not have the noise and constant traffic that usually comes with it. However, Warning: you are on the approach path for the domestic airport. The good news: landings don't go on throughout the night. The apartment had a partial view of the pond (Tjornin) and the little walking path you can take around it. The only tricky part is the parking situation. There is daytime pay parking on the one way road and a very small lot across the street but this is very limited. If you are taking your car out sightseeing for the entire day, it's not an issue but spaces are hard to come by if you are in and out during the day. This is a great place if you're looking for little independence and a change of pace from the standard hotel model and its tour bus traffic. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"would happily stay here again"
Quiet location, although banging doors can be a bit of a problem. Unfortunately I was unwittingly guilty of that until I got the hang of remembering that the door closers are very effective. Close to the main tourist areas of Reykjavik but without the people traffic. A number of things were difficult to reach for a vertically challenged person like […] myself and I actually had to stand on a chair to get crockery from the higher shelves. A very clean place, with pleasant staff. Would definitely recommend this place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Great spot. Very helpful staff. Very clean and tidy.Genuine Expedia guest review
We arrived mid afternoon and had to ring ourselves into a very small lobby type area and get a key which was left in an envelope with our name on it from a shelf. We might expect that late at night but not in the afternoon. A staff person did call just after we got into the room but was very unfriendly and quite curt. It felt like we were being watched...rather […] eerie! Room was clean but quite crowded. It did not live up to "luxury" status by any means. i.e. pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable, a sofa bed was advertised and available but no room to pull it out. Size would suite a single person more than a couple. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Comfort close to city centre."
I arrived to a very clean room with every amenity that I needed and then some. Although it was very late and I had forgotten the instructions there was a quick pickup at the other end of the phone and all was easily sorted for me to get into my room! A clean bathroom and real shower - although the amount of water on the floor from using it is a something […] to mop up. A kitchenette that had all the necessities! A clean and comfy bed, sofa, and table and chairs. The first bed on this trip that 2 would be comfortable in. Wifi reception was tricky in my corner, unit 61. The sofa means the unit could accomodate 3 but that would be very, very tight with luggage! The national art gallery is right here for an easy visit. This hotel is on the lists for airport shuttles too.The attractions of Reykjavik are all within easy walking distance, I walked all over.Bakeries and grocery are nearby also. The apartment has all that you need for a stay in Reykjavik: a kitchen that is well-supplied, a comfy bed, an adjustable shower, and more. The place was immaculate and stylishly decorated. "Clean, comfortable and convenient!"
We stayed at Castle House twice during our recent visit to Iceland, the first stay in a larger suite and for the second stay we had a smaller studio. Both units were great. The first suite, #40, was spacious and well appointed while the second, #62, while small and still well appointed, was very cozy and suited our needs perfectly. The units were well […] equipped with mini kitchens providing all necessary utensils, appliances incl microwave, cooktop, fridge, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, etc as well as nice dishes and cutlery, all in good repair. The beds were comfortable, the linens fresh and clean. The heated bathroom floor and towel rail were a nice treat! All furnishings and walls, including rugs and tables, were stain free and suited the spaces provided. Extra pillows, blankets, iron, fan, etc in room should they be required. Original art on the walls was very tasteful and painted by one of the owners/staff. Windows were large and opened for fresh air, which was super. The location is just behind a church on Lake Tjornin, super convenient for short walks to Old Harbour, restaurants, grocery stores, and Harpa concert hall, and is also close to the bus terminal. Any inquiries we had were answered quickly and in a friendly manner from the staff, both before and during our stay. We would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very affordable, excellent Reykjavik apartment"
We stayed in Apt 90 at Embassy Luxury Apartments. We arrived around 5pm and pressed the button for the intercom. Upon speaking to someone, the main entrance was buzzed to allow us to enter. In the hallway, we found the one of several envelopes with our names on it. Inside were the keys and a piece of paper with information. The information in the envelope […] stated that we should expect a call within a short time after our arrival to inquire about how we found things and if there were any questions. We stayed in the apartment for about 3 hours after our arrival and never got the call. We probably didn't need to speak with anyone, as everything was in order and we had adequate information about what to do and where to go. For the location, being so close to the main part of downtown Reykjavik, and the excellence of the facilities, this is a very affordable apartment. The two twin beds are comfortable, and the living area/dining area is roomy. There is a two-element cooktop and an approximately 3 cubic foot refrigerator with a small freezer compartment. There are two wi-fi networks, one with and one without a password. Both were speedy, though signal strength was weak in the bedroom. The television is equipped with satellite and has a number of english-language channels. This 2nd floor apartment has stairs-only access. We were able to easily find free parking on a nearby street for our car. Parking on the street in front of the apartment requires payment. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Well located and comfortable, not 'luxury' though"
We liked the location and having a small kitchen to prepare breakfast. However, it was rather small, especially the minuscule bathroom/shower area. Beds were too soft. Everything was generally fine but I am not sure where they got the ‘luxury’ tag from.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Central, convenient, well equipped, friendly"
Great location right next door to the national gallery and within very easy walking distance of the harbour, some really good restaurants and museums. The level of information provided before you get there is superb and makes for a very easy arrival. The room was perfect for three nights away - we had a studio, number 62, and it was ideal. The bed was […] a little on the softer side for our liking, but for 3 nights was fine. The value for money with this place is excellent. We have already recommended it to our friends.
