"The perfect Tuscan hideaway"
01/01/15 Chris E
We spent two nights at Follonico for a break in-between time in Rome & Florence. Suzanne & Fabio are delightful hosts and made us feel very welcome. The couples long journey to restore this property is evident everywhere you look. The attention to detail and the creative decoration is both personal and comfortable. The farmhouse is a testament to their hard work and love. The fire in our bedroom was a welcome treat !

"Once in a lifetime experience for city people"

We booked the stag via Jetsetter. So in terms if value, it's truly value for money. All the bathroom supplies are high end Sicilian brand. Our neighbors are donkey, horse and chickens. It's quite a unique experience! Fabio, the owner, is extremely helpful. When we broke our rental GPS, he tried to fix the GPS for us using toothpick and it worked! Fabio's wife is very talented in interior design. Every interior decor is locally sourced, make it so unique

"Beauty in every detail. A Tuscan gem!"

Because we live in Italy we are fortunate enough to visit Tuscany every year. This year's stay at the Follonico has been our best ever. We spent three nights there in a party including seniors and a small child. Compared to our previous stays in hotels that, incidentally, were significantly more expensive, the Follonico is far better. Every detail has been carefully thought of by the wonderful hosts, Fabio and Suzanne. The rooms are large and beautifully decorated. The furnishings and linens are of exceptional quality: three types of pillows are offered, the mattresses are very comfortable, the towels fantastics, and the open showers wonderful. Unlike many other Italian hotels, this property has modern air conditioning and heating which is a huge advantage. Furthermore Fabio is an excellent cook so breakfast was gorgeous, with fresh breads and treats baked every morning. This small, boutique property offers every home comfort and cozy feel, with all the conveniences of a luxury hotel. It is exceptionally located in the heart of Tuscany's most beautiful region. Look no further.

"A very special place"

Staying at Follonico was the highlight of our trip to Italy. I did a lot of research on the internet before choosing Follonico and it exceeded our expectations.Such a beautifully restored farmhouse with Suzanne's incredible attention to detail and the most beautiful setting surrounded by vineyards with stunning views of Montepulciano in the distance. A cooking lesson with Fabio was great fun and his breakfasts were the best.Suzanne and Fabio were terrific hosts always ready with a smile to give information and advice on where to go.All in all a pretty special place ..complete with a horse, dogs and chickens and hope we can come back one day!

"Charming...eclectically charming!"

This place is an absolutely charming farmhouse set in a gorgeous Tuscan valley. Grape vines in every direction, the peace and quiet that one can experience at Follonico is simply majestic. Chickens, dogs, a donkey, and wonderful hosts Fabio and Suzanne; what more could any peace-loving traveller want. Perhaps some of Italy's best pasta?... well that's available just a short drive away in Montefollonico. Superb wine?... there's no shortage of that in the surrounding areas. But back to Follonico, which is sympathetically renovated and decorated in a quirky manner and certainly not short of character. If the true test of any accommodation is whether or not you would return for a second helping, then Follonico must pass the test with flying colours, as we cannot wait to go back.

"Perfection in the Tuscan countryside"

Love this place. Beautifully restored farmhouse in a contemporary style located at the bottom of a valley between Montefollonico and Montepulciano. Its surrounded by vineyards with a resident horse, donkey and chickens. Can’t ask for a better setting. Fabio was a wonderful host and we were provided a free upgrade to a larger room and it was spacious, well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was simple and delicious with high quality ingredients. Surprisingly, given its remote location, there is internet access available in the common room. If I had to nitpick the decorative pieces around the rooms are a bit too plentiful and can make it feel a little like there’s nowhere to put your own stuff (although its not the case). And yes, the roosters do crow in the morning. Tip: program the GPS coordinates into your GPS as finding it (especially at night) can be difficult.

Charming! Great experience and value. Couldn't ask for more. Fabio is the best! He made us feel like family. This is a small family owned boutique inn. Breakfast is delightful, the couple who owns the inn could not have provided a better nor a more authentic Italian experience for us Yanks from Texas.

The most relaxing place, with exquisite views and delicious home made breakfast. The family that run the place are fluent in many languages and very knowledgable about the region. Great recommendations. Suits couples and families. Basically very cool and we defiantly will return.

"If you're staying in Tuscany, stay here!"

If you are looking for a B&B, tucked away in the Tuscan countryside, outside of the main Tuscan 'hubs', with gourmet food and alive, fun and warm hosts, then stay here. The B&B is run by a local family who warmly welcome you into their house - they are also a wealth of knowledge, always there to provide tips on 'non-tourity' things to do/restaurants, and an insight into the Tuscan way of life. The rooms each have a different character to them, and they look like they are straight out of styling magazine, yet in a warm and homely way. The food is home made every day. I was so excited to wake up every morning to handmade bread, delicious cheese and sweet treats. The B&B also seems to attract an interesting mix of people, which was another highlight for us - we had great meals sitting around their shared kitchen table, meeting interesting people from all walks of life. We can't wait to go back!

"A perfect holiday in the countryside"

Aside from getting lost on the way to Follonico, our visit was a huge success from start to finish. We were driving without GPS and found it difficult to locate Susanne's homey retreat on our own. A quick call on our mobile to Susanne, and she sorted us out and had us headed to her within 5 minutes. Upon arrival, Susanne told us she'd upgraded us to a suite, which we happily accepted. We asked for recommendations for dinner in the area, and quick as a shot, she came up with 3 different places. The one we chose was an organic farm about 20 minutes' drive away. Knowing we had no GPS, she loaned us her TomTom, which was already set up for us. What a clever idea! Before leaving for dinner, we lazed about in lawn chairs out front, and enjoyed watching her little chicks frolicking. When not admiring the chicks, we were mesmerised by the views of vineyards and ancient towns in the distance. The next morning, we rose to a delicious breakfast served in the main house, and Susanne offered us plenty of advice on how to get to our next destination, including stops for lunch and areas of historical interest. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. One day is definitely not enough!
