"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.
""Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.
"Nice hotel in the theatre district"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Very nice hotel in the theatre district. Friendly and helpful staff. Basic room accomodations but very clean. Would recommend.

"Americana Inn--for young traveler on tight budget"
Hotel staff were professional, friendly, helpful. Room with two twin beds was small, much like an unadorned college dorm. There is little soundproofing, so street, hall, and bathroom noise are loud. Room and bathrooms are clean. Many good restaurants are within a couple blocks.
"Pretty Good for a Night's Stay"
The location is great because it's within walking distance for some popular sightseeing. My friend and I basically just needed a place to keep our things and sleep for the night. We shared the floor with another room, but never ran into the other guests. If you're use to the college lifestyle where you share a kitchen and bathroom, then this place is […] fine. We had no issues with the communal space. The floors however were SUPER squeaky that I woke up my friend at 4am when I had to get up, and later he woke me up at 6am because of the noisy floor. That was probably the only downside. The breakfast was fine, nothing upscale. Just Bagels, cereal, yogurt, orange juice, coffee, but really, I'm in Manhattan, there were other places I wanted to eat at, this continental breakfast was just an appetizer. All in all, the place was quaint, clean and hospitable, I would definitely stay there again. Read more
"Hotel Lotus New York"
A great little hotel! Entrace looks like a "hole in the wall" but upstairs each floor has two two-room suites; each general suite area has the bathroom, kitchen(!) and table w/chairs, while your room (private secure entrance) has a double & single bed, writing table, flat-screen TV, faux fireplace and hardwood floors! Plus a continental breakfast downstairs […] in the morning! Friendly, helpful staff. Read more
"Best location!"
First thing when my girlfriend and I got there, the person at the front desk told us that we got upgraded! Which was awesome. We had initially booked a 2 twin bed room, and we were upgraded to a room with 5 QUEEN size beds. It was actually 2 rooms and an upstairs. WE LOVED IT. It was really clean, too. I believe the best thing about Lotus is its location. […] It is next to the empire state building, which is like a hotspot for a lot of stuff. Lotus is also only a few blocks away from times square, which is great! I highly recommend this hotel especially if you are going to New York for a vacation or exploring the city! Read more
"good position"
Really good position and good prize at that location
"Lotus Hotel --we'll stay there again"
The Lotus Hotel is close to the Empire St Building and within walking distance of museums, restaurants, the subway and bus stops. The no-frills room was clean, a reasonable size, there was minimal street noise, and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom, shared with one other room, was very clean. The 2 rooms also shared a small kitchen area. The staff […] at the front desk were polite and provided very good customer service. The continental breakfast consisted of: coffee, tea, hot chocolate, orange juice, milk, 3 cereals, oatmeal packs, yogurt, and bagels. Read more

"Great Value"
This hotel had very well kept rooms/apartments. Your key card allows you access to the entrance to an converted apartment, where you have a small living room (no couch) with a kitchen and dining room table. Everythning relevant was tastefully updated. Within each apartment were two bedrooms that had card entry locks. While it was interesting sharing […] it worked out well in my experience. (1stt night I had the apartment to myself. 2nd night I got back late and I had no issues with sharing the bathroom). One reminder: be careful not to lock your key in the bedroom while using the living area. One complaint: bedroom was very warm and I could not adjust the temperature. Heating pipes were old and you could hear them clanging a bit during the night. Small complaint for a great experience and great value. Complimentary breakfast was also nice. Read more
"Very good on a budget"
The hotel and rooms are fairly basic, but clean and functional -- at a great price. My only real complaint is that there is no wi fi access as of December 2011.

"An accident, or worse, waiting to happen!"
They HIDE in SMALL LETTERS the fact you are sharing a bathroom with another room! The bathtub-shower does not have a non-slip material. There is no floor mat in the bathroom. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom. There is no bar of soap at the sink and you use liquidsoap in the shower. If you must use the toilet facility and "the other room's occupant" […] is in the bathroom, you are in trouble. DO NOT GO THERE. You can get other hotels in NYC at this rate and have you own, safe, bathroom. Read more
"Hotel Lotus"
Overall I was satisfied with my one night stay. When I arrived there were wet towels on the bathroom floor, but I blame sloppy guests who were sharing the bathroom. The staff arrived immediately and all was well within 10 minutes. Location was perfect for my particular needs. I didn't take a single cab in 48 hours. "Free" breakfast includes toasted […] bagels, cereal, juice. Coffee is instant and undrinkable. Selection of tea looked promising. A little effort would dramatically improve the breakfast without increasing cost to hotel or guest. I'd definitely give this hotel another chance. It is clean, simple and perfect for travelers who just need a place to sleep. Read more
"shared bathroom"
Hotel room is spacious considering you are in NYC. However, we had to share our one and only bathroom with another suite. A total of 10 people in AM was chaos not to mention that they had no consideration for us as they left the bathroom dirty , smelly and a mess.
"The Hotel Lotus in New York City"
This hotel is a converted apartment building. A room shares a bath and kitchen. We were on the 4th floor and shared with one other room. There is a full kitchen and it was quite. As our neighbors were very considerate. Breakfast was a nice plus.
"SHARED BATH"
Would have been nice had I known... Size: A tiny, hole-in-the-wall place on fifth avenue. Converted, I think, from two bedroom apartments to two hotel rooms. Rooms varied, from decent size to extremely tiny (my bathroom is bigger than the room - literally, one room - that I ended up in). Quality: Air conditioning units "secured" via plywood and kleenex. […] Really. Key cards often went on the fritz.Cleaning staff do a decent job and hotel staff seem quite friendly. Loud neighbourhood, particularly on lower floors; request a room that faces the back if this is going to bother you. Can't beat the location - not two blocks from the Empire State building, walking distance to Bryant Park, Times Square, the Flatiron district... Read more
"nice people n very clean"
Very friendly people I was not expecting much for it since I was in a low budget and I got a share bathroom hotel, but I was surprised how lean they keep it. I/we would stay there again!
"Lotus Hotel at 5th and 31st - Conveniently located"
I would recommend this hotel if your stay in NY is brief - as ours was. The room was tiny, and the wood floors were not that clean (i.e., they were dusty). However, we had a "Loft" room, and if you could survive the trip up the spiral staircase (or the Suicide Staircase as we nicknamed it), you could go out on the roof and have amazing views of the […] ESB. Read more
It was very tiny, but there was a kitchen w/dining table and bathroom shared w/one other room. Great location for one or two nights. Longer would be tough, because the room was so small.
"Hardwood floors could be dealbreaker"
This place is clean, comfortable, in a great location, and has great service. On the other side, the hardwood floors are very noisy. At all times, you can hear folks walking in their rooms and outside in the hall. This was not a problem for me, a heavy sleeper, but if you're a very light sleeper, be warned.
"PERFECT for sight-seeing stays"
We loved it at Lotus!! You actually only share a bathroom with one other room not the whole floor as it sounds. The room was immaculate and this was the perfect location for deeing all the major sites. We walked to almost all of our destinations except for battery park and the subway station was only a couple block from the hotel as well. This is a […] great stay for someone who plans on enjoying the city and only coming to the hotel to sleep. The even stored our luggage after check out so we didn't have to lug it around with us on our last few hours of sightseeing before we left the city. I will totally stay here again. Perfect location great staff and rooms!! Read more
"Great Location - Interesting Rooms Configurations"
This is a great little hotel with an excellent location close to the Empire State Building on 5th Avenue. Rooms are clean, but small. They also have a roof-top lounge area on the 5th floor, which was totally unexpected. Not bad for the price...

"The Best!!!"
The hotel was great! The service from the front desk never failed me and my sister. The service was very fast and the hotel employees helped us get around New York very well we were never lost. This hotel was very cozy, it’s close to times squares and Macy's etc. A lot of subways is also close to the Lotus hotel. The hotel was very clean. I actually […] liked sharing bathrooms and kitchen space with two other rooms that was on my floor. The Lotus hotel is my number one stay in NY just because it's cheap and convent. And I also got a chance to eat $1.00 pizza any time of the day and also walk to the Empire State Building which was 3 blocks away! Exciting you should book YOUR stay NOW Read more
"Depends what you're looking for"
In this hotel, you share the shower/bathroom and lounge area with others on your floor; but you have your own bedroom. If you have quiet neighbors on your floor, this is a great hotel in a great location for the price. My first night was bad with guys partying in the lounge area. My 2nd night was great b/c they left.
"OK"
OK hotel. Neighborhood not very good for seeing some of the more attractive parts of New York. Much cheaper when I stayed there than other hotels of lower quality. So, very good when one considers price.

"Lotus hotel in NY next to Empire State Building"
Very small hotel, 5 floors, 6 rooms on each floor. 3 rooms share a bathroom and a small kitchen. Close to all shopping - Macy's, Gap, mall, and so on. Walking distance to subway, railroad, Times Square. Feels very safe. Somewhat noisy at night. No view from our window. Old smell. Breakfast is okay - coffee, tea, bagels, milk, cereal, orange juice, cookies. […] I didn't like sharing bathroom with people from other rooms, it took a while. If you need just a place to sleep - it is a good place to stay. Read more

"Inexpensive in heart (5th & 30) of Manhattan"
No frills, nothing fancy, just a simple place to sleep conveniently located at 5th Avenue and 30th in Manhattan. The room was small, the common area of a kitchen, an eating table and the bathroom was functional and the price was low. Just as important, the place was very clean, the staff was very attentive to my needs, and there were no uninvited guests […] in what I saw of the hotel. A nice, inexpensive place to stay. Read more
"Great if you don't mind shared facilities"
I was surprised to find a shared living space, kitchen, and bathroom. Aside from having to plan the mornings so we could share the facilities, it was sort of fun. Breakfast was poor--I don't usually complain about a continental breakfast, but there was only instant coffee. Still a nice hotel for the price and in a great location.

"The hotel in New York"
Not friendly staff together with shared bath room made me get up very early and leave. In this United States of America it is my first time to see a "shared bathroom." Guess what? My next roomates were five people. Never again.
"Lotus Hotel--Shared but manageable"
For a very good price, this is a perfectly comfortable place with just the one drawback--a stranger using "your" bathroom. But it's just one stranger, and the space is comfortable and well-maintained. On a budget, perfectly all right, and I'll probably return.

"The Lotus Hotel in Manhattan, New York - 5th ave"
Hotel can be explained as being set up like a college suite. Also the hotel was a little odly shaped, I really enjoyed my stay. The rooms were very spacious and the staff was friendly and knowledgable. Its located right on 5th ave and not far from all the tourist spots. I would definitely recommend the Lotus Hotel to a friend.

"Lotus Hotel"
This was a very interesting find, having decided at the last minute to stay in Manhattan for the night. The price (for the location especially) was remarkable. The trappings of the hotel seem more high-end than I expected and the receptionist was polite. The space includes a very nice shared kitchenette and bathroom, and a sort of additional guest space […] and bed openly located on a second level above (loft-style) the kitchenette. The private rooms are separate, having locked doors with key card entry. My room had a small foyer with a table, mirror, and closet, and then led into the room. Considering the rest of the space is in the form of shared spaced, the room size was not too bad -- do keep in mind it is a bedroom and bedroom only. The bed was very comfortable indeed. There were the typical dressers, tables, and TV etc. Plenty of closet space between the one in the foyer and the one in the room. I should mention everything throughout (both in private and shared areas) is nicely furnished with a bit of a sleek, modern aesthetic, which I found quite nice. The cons; not many but they stood out, as they related to comfort. And considering the level attention paid to the overall amenities, decor, etc, I have to count them as no-brainers not to be neglected. -There was a small leak in the pipe under the bathroom sink, which I mediated ad hoc with the small wastebasket there. -Easy to slip in bathtub; extremely smooth, slippery surfacing -- could have broken something! I have never slipped in a bathtub/shower like that before, and so easily too; I was just stepping in, there had not been any soap yet, just the water which I had just turned on! -Room was cold. The heating system was the old steam kind common in New York, so I had to turn the knob all the way and wait for the room to slowly warm up, when for that very reason, it should have been left to stay on at all times. Two or three blankets did the trick at least. These details are the only things preventing me from Read more

"Great location, very clean, definitely recommended"
I was surprised at how spacious the room was although, based on the floor plan I saw, I got one of the larger rooms. Everything was very clean and the staff were friendly, even when I over-stayed a little.

"WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFETIME"
It was the WORST hotel I ever expected and ever seen in my lifetime. When I went in room it wasn't a room, there were turning stairs and they were so narrow that it was impossible for a heavy weight person to go up.Somehow I climbed with my luggage upstairs and found my room. It was like a jail with very very small size and above all there was NO ventilation […] and bathroom.Restroom was there but no bathroom at all. For taking bath i had to go downstairs in a shared one. The beddsheets were NOT changed for 3 days even after I complained 2 times. What excuse hotel people gave was that my stuff was lying on bed so they didn't change it, but this was not the third day BUT then also bed sheets were not changed. The only good thing in this hotel was location - 2 blocks from empire state building and that's it. But can you imagine - you rent a hotel room and when you enter inside it you find STAIRS.... PLEASE I STRONGLY REQUEST YOU NOT TO SUGGEST ANYONE FOR THIS HOTEL. Read more
"Lotus Hotel in NYC"
This was the worst hotel ever! I did not expect 3 rooms of 3 sets of random people sharing a bathroom! the rooms smelled bad, there was spagetti still in the sink so it was obvious no one had cleaned it. The receptionist was terrible and not making anything convenient for our stay. Its an instant symbol right away not to stay there when you basically […] pass it on fifth avenue because its so small. Also there is no free wifi you have to pay $2 for 10 minutes! that is rediculous. Breakfast time was only 2 hours from 7-9 which is a complete rip off. Read more
"Lotus Hotel in manhattan"
The hotel's location is good but the outside looking is not very satisfying. The front door is very small and no lobby at all. The rooms are ok and have micro oven and many convenience things. Lotus doesn't have internet cable but you can get wifi signal from nearby hotels(can be using by credit card).
"good location"
Only problem - the hotel itself is noisy, you can hear people walking around all the time.
"Lotus Hotel--A good bargain"
Room was very clean and quite roomy. Hardly any television channels. Shared clean well-stocked bathroom with only one other guest room. Continental breakfast (bagels, cereal, coffee and juices) was great, given the low price of the room.

"Great Value"
Comfortable quarters for the price. The shared bathroom wasn't a big deal, however, I was fortunate enough to use it first on my 2 night stay. Had a little problem with the heat but was immediately fixed. Staff is friendly and courteous. The location is great and the so it the price. Would recommend.
