Manuia Beach Resort - Rarotonga

The grounds at the Manuia are so beautiful, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The managers, Loren and Alex, really provide an excellent experience for their guests with their friendliness, professionalism, and remarkable hospitality! They are so dedicated, and there whenever I needed anything. I will absolutely stay here again!

We stayed here for a week and loved it. The property is clean and welcoming. Manuia Beach Boutique Hotel probably has one of the best beaches on the island. From airport transfer to airport transfer, the staff professionally handled everything. Torrential rains for a day and a half didn't deter the relaxation, either. Rental cars and scooters on the property, brochures on the counter, all went well. The dining area food was nicely prepared; service was great. The infinity pool was handy; we never used the […] air conditioner, as it was comfortable. The occasional gecko accompanied us (he never tried to sell us insurance), and the island cat was friendly and ready to purr. Take reef shoes, for there is much coral, especially after the rains and high seas deposited quite a bit on the beach. Access to Avarua, Avatiu was easy. We arrived on Boxing Day so many businesses were closed. We hadn't done foreign exchange for NZ$, as the banks were closed on the 26th, the front desk gave us a loan until banks opened the next day. Not too many mosquitos, although with all the rain, I'm sure the sheer numbers of bugs will increase. Take your repellant anyway. Take your masks and snorkels; the sea life is great. Read more

We had a relaxing, trouble free 6 nights at Manuia Beach Resort. It is a perfect place to stay! Beautiful setting - right on the beach - Pool was first rate, views to die for, sunsets, friendly staff and management - no complaints. Restaurant is good too. Breakfasts perfect. My wife and I spent 2 weeks at the Manuia beach resort for our honeymoon, and honestly it was the best place to be for couples wanting a real raro retreat. Excellent food, hospitality was great, and the location is perfect, loved the pool overlooking the beach/sunset. (Close to town, scooter hire, internet cafes, shops) Loved the 2 weeks we stayed there, […] we looked at some of the other resorts around the island and I can honestly say that Im glad we chose to stay here. WIth the new reno's im sure the rooms will be even better, granted it would have been nice to have a kitchette, but its not a big deal at all. Manuia Beach Boutique Hotel is great place to spend a relaxing holiday. We were upgraded to a Beach Front room on arrival, and the view from the room was great. The room was well kept, had a slight issue with the internal bathroom door not locking properly, but the outdoor shower was a nice addition. Fantastic staff, helpful, friendly, knowledgable and very obliging. Great restaurant, probably one fo the best on the island. We did eat out at various other establishments but nothing compared to the meals we were served at Manuia Beach. The location was excellent, scooter hire just across the road and bus stop at the gate. Far enough away from the […] bigger resorts so as to feel like you were completely escaping from the world!! Adults only complex which made for very peaceful surroundings. The facilities were adequate although possibly a little more basic than we had anticipated, (just as there were no cooking facilities at all in our room) however it did not deter from our enjoyment and we are definately planning to return to Rarotonga nexct year, and will most likely stay at Manuia Beach Boutique Hotel again next time. This hotel is being renovated, and we could see that great improvements are being made. The owners and staff are very friendly, and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much. The bathroom/shower was in need of a good scrub, but we thought perhaps because the room was to be renovated soon, the level of cleanliness wasn't the priority it might normally have […] been. The menu in the restaurant could perhaps be a bit more adaptable. There were only dinner meals available in the evening,(apart from fries/toasted sandwiches, etc.), and if we had eaten out during the day, we would have liked a healthier, lighter, evening meal option. Loved loved loved Manuia. The resort has recently come under new ownership and also has new managers a lovely couple called Alex and Loren, between them they are making this place just wonderful. The location is perfect, right on the beach, and the infinity pool really makes the most of it. There is good snorkeling right off the beach there and lots […] of restaurants to try out nearby. We started off in one of the rooms that hasn't yet been refurbished but it was still great, really clean and comfortable. Part way through our stay we were upgraded to a beach front room - the refurbs are great, and the outdoor showers are a very cool idea. There was a bit of work going on to continue the refurbishments but we didn't notice it at all, the noise was minimal and it certainly didn't feel like a building site. Food was really good - the complimentary breakfast is pretty simple but nice; cereal, fresh fruit, toast and yummy pancakes with maple syrup. We ate in the restaurant a few times, the fresh catch of the day was always a winner. The food wasn't the best we had on the island but it was definitely a lot better than I'd been expecting having read some of the other reviews. One watch out - the drinks are really pricey; $8 for a beer $12 for a cocktail, we ended up buying beers at the supermarket and keeping them in the fridge in our room. All in all this place is a real gem, the perfect place to relax and soak up the Rarotongan sun, we'd definitely go back. Read more

Nice beachfront location that has great western sunsets. Walk out of your room onto the sand, with a beachfront resturant and infinity pool. Rooms were of fair quality with basic airconditioning, but you don't go on holiday to stay in your room.

Fantastic overall experience over the five days we were there in early June. We were on the beachfront unit. Couldn't complain of anything even if we tried. The only let down was weak water pressure in the shower for the first couple of days but the whole unit got replaced and then worked like a charm! Staff are fantastic. The restaurant, infinity pool […] and the unit were all of top notch quality. Truly surprised there aren't as many great reviews as it should have. Definitely going places! Highly recommended for couples (no kids allowed anyway). Will not be looking for anywhere else if we go back again. Lovely setting by the ocean. But couldn't have cappuchino or espresso whilst gazing at the waves, because coffee machine out of order (for 4 months!). Instant coffee was offered. Nice bungalow. This small, classic, 24 suite resort, right on the beach was a perfect place to relax and enjoy Rarotonga. Each suite had air-conditioning (which wasn't needed this time of year), and an outdoor shower, which was a refreshing change and got you up in the morning. The daily continental breakfast featuring fresh fruits, meusli, and pancakes was tasty. The […] restaurant , with its sand, neatly raked floor was unique, informal, and very natural Cook Island. The location, with a scooter, car rental across the street was handy, and allowed walking or driving to nearby restaurants, as well as tour activities around the island. After arriving only to find that we were not booked into the hotel due to Expedia double booking us, the reception staff at Manuia were more than accomodating. They managed to find us rooms for our entire stay even though they were fully booked for most of the time. The beach location is superb and the cocktails were additive! Some of the reviews we read after making the booking made me a bit worried about our decision to stay there. Turns out it was a nice place to stay and the 3 and half star rating is about right. It was clean and comfortable. Our only major disappointment was check-out day. We had awful arrival and departure flight times so that was a bit messy at the […] check-in and check-out end as we paid for a full first day, but arrived at 2am. On our last day we had a 10am checkout - it would have been nice of the hotel to give a later checkout given our late check-in. Problem was the office is only manned from 10.30 to 12.30 on Sat & Sun so we left our bags in our room so we could visit the market in town. Our bags were moved to the office while we were out and whilst they had said it was ok to stay around we did not have eveything we needed and the office was locked for most of the day. They said we could use the upstairs guest lounge and bathroom but there were no towels and the bathroom was quite poorly maintained. So we felt a bit stranded for a while and were not sure if we would have to board our flight without a freshen up. Luckily the clerk arrived in time (11pm) for us to sort out our things for our midnight transfer. So that side of things could have been better. Read more

The room is a reasonable size. Ants were a problem though but our room was cleaned daily and fresh towels everyday too. There isn't a tv available in the room just a shared one in the common room. But since we were in Raro we'd rather be on the beach than watching TV! The bus stop is right by the hotel driveway and there are restaurants within walking […] distance. The staff is super friendly. They filled up our water bottles everyday (some of the other hotels charge for water) and they were so kind to remain open for breakfast an extra 10 mins as we accidentally slept in. Two friends and I stayed at Manuia for 8 nights. Our studio room was tidy, a few minor things: - The mini-fridge door needed to be re-sealed, had trouble keeping it closed - The shower door which didn't shut properly - The air conditioning didn't have a remote so we didn't have the option of increasing the cold at times when needed, it was on one setting […] the whole time. The complimentary breakfasts were very average so we stuck with toast, if you were a late starter to breakfast you would miss out on other options (pikelets, muffins and fruit) Lunch and dinner menu was amazing, seafood chowder was fantastic. A huge put off - I took a glimpse into the kitchen, flys everywhere over the counter! We had fantastic weather the whole time, which made for great relaxing on the decking area at the beach-side infinity pool. Beach, bar and pool within metres of each other, great. Staff were friendly and welcoming, although I note one huge spoiler for the resort and for our holiday - we had drinks with the staff at closing time, the next morning we discovered two of our wallets had cash taken from them, around $150 was stolen. We reported this to the staff and the manager, who showed little concern and nothing come of it. Thankfully it was our last day in Raro. We haven't heard from the staff which I thought we would as they had our contact details. A very very disappointing end to our holiday. Except for our last day, overall was a good stay. Read more
