This is the second time I stayed in this hotel. The hotel used to have a great breakfast serving. We purposely choose to stay at this hotel again because of the great breakfast. However, in this second stay, the quality of the breakfast has deteriorated so badly that we rather skip breakfast and eat out.

This hotel was very comfortable, good pool, right on the beach, excellent view. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. What we didnt enjoy was that to have a drink in the lounge was very very expensive and they are not well located to other restaurants or bars.

The hotel is right on the beach and very good. We booked a sea-facing room which was good, it had a smallish balcony but big enough to sit out on the chairs supplied. The room was large and had TV, tea and coffee making etc, with good air con and a decent bathroom. Breakfast had lots of variety, both of hot and cold dishes with eggs cooked to order. […] You could eat inside or outside. The outside pool area was very attractive, with beds, chairs, tables, plus pool towels were provided. On an afternoon the staff usually came round with water melon for everybody and inside in the lobby they supplied water, fruit juice and biscuits - a pleasant treat after a hot day! enough. Plenty of water sports are available on the beach. We would stay again if in area - the only drawback is that the Tanjah Bungah area is very quiet, with just a few restaurants and a couple of very small mini-markets and a local daily market hall which is mostly fruit, veg and meat with a few other stalls, a larger market is held Tuesday evenings. Interesting for a visit just to see the local fruit, vegetables The hotel runs a daily free shuttle service to Georgetown and to Batu Feringgi on an evening for the large outdoor market The local buses stopped right outside the hotel and were very cheap so it was easy enough to travel around. Our only real complaint was the free wi-fi - it was terribly slow and often cut out for no apparent reason. it is really something they need to look at. Read more

Location: there isnt much going on in Tanjung Bunga but if your looking for something a bit quieter and less touristy than Batu ferringi then this is a good choice. Batu F is only a short bus ride away. Hotel was a bit busy at breakfast times and it was a bit of a scrum sometimes to get a table. For the price i would say this is a good value hotel.

Very nice hotel on the beach with all facilities. Plenty of beds by the pool and on the beach. Bus stop directly outside the hotel for trips to Georgetown at a very low cost. The buses run every few minutes (number 101) to the jetty bus depot.The hotel itself is excellent. Our only complaint would be that the pool water looked a bit cloudy.

cleanliness of the pool is terrible. the worst of all is the cleanliness of the room, shifted one of the bed and found heaps of rubbish and dust under the bed. bed sheets linen have black stains, and there is a lighter lying on the floor left behind by the previous guest. wont ever go back to this hotel again.

I had a small stay at the Flamingo, just 3 days. It was pleasant for me as I didnt want to do anything special. I enjoyed the beach, the swimmingpool and the sun! The Fitness room is new and pleasant to use ! The breakfast buffet is full and there's a lot of choices.

As a last minute planned trip we were prepared not to expect perfection - but we were so pleasantly surprised! The overall outlook from the hotel is magnificent - initially in a hill view room - we still had ocean views. When we were able to upgrade to a seaview - what a fantastic outlook over the bay! The rooms were ok but nothing more. No furniture out on the balcony, where it would be cozy to sit and watch the view. The kingsize bed was two beds, which went apart all the time since they had wheels on them so we could only sleep on one of them. Didn't like the breakfast very much. No yoghurt or "european breakfast" to choose from. The pool area […] was nice but it was a race every morning to get a sunbed. All the elderly people got a bed because they woke up early. There were only about 25 beds around the pool so we could never get a spot! Not good. No fresh orange juice in the bar. No one swam in the ocean because of the sign "beware of jelly fish, swim at your own risk!". NOT GOOD. The ocean wasn't clear and looked dirty. Also they made fireworks in the middle of the night on beach! The area surrounding the hotel wasn't good. Nowhere to cross the road. Nowhere to shop clothes etc. A beware! The only bad thing about this hotel is that they had a bird chained to a stick the whole day, he had a chain around his leg and that keept him on the stick the whole day. The rest of the hotel was nice and we enjoyed our night there:)

Good breakfast, nice balconies, family-friendly, nice staff. Local bus works perfectly and the busstops are infront of the hotel. On the other side of the street there is 2 wonderful restaurants. We had two different rooms and we had slight problems with both bathrooms.

I was brought up in Penang and I wanted a place to stay for 8 days. I was told there had been a renovation and a name change. Overall, the Flamingo was good, room size bigger than normal. Furnishing is basic. There is more space and a round table with 4 chairs would have been a great addition. As the whole place (rooms and corridor) is tiled (not carpeted) […] and there is a gap under the doors, the noise from the outside corridor or adjoining room (those with adjoining doors) comes into the room. Hence, during busy holiday season, the noise may be an issue. Housekeeping is just Ok, on one night, no towels were provided, we had to ask for it. Breakfast is good, there were daily changes to the local food. If you can, get your meals some place else. We went to the restaurant for lunch. The food was pricey and very very ordinary. There are several local eating places within walking distance, I would go eat outside the hotel. Front Desk was poorly staffed, if you are in a hurry to check out, expect to wait in the queue. The pool area is good, and the sea is adjacent to the pool. The beach area is not extensive, but adequate. Read more

Check-in was slow - it was Christmas Day. Room was on 16th floor facing the sea - good views, cobwebs (also in main lobby areas). Lolly wrappers sat on the corridor floor near our room for over a day (I finally picked it up when it wasn't removed by housekeeping). Our room was not serviced on one particular day (even though we placed the relevant sign […] on our door handle.) The kingsize bed was comfortable, we stayed 4 nights and had no hot water on the last 2 days (reported to maintenance - outcome nil). Breakfast from about 9am was noisy, too many people in one area, no healthy cereals (choice of 4 with 3 being sugar based - other was Rice Bubbles), no choice of milk eg skim/light. Never saw apple juice after first breakfast of 4. No catering for Indians (my partner) plus other Indian guests. The queue for omelettes was dreadful - being the busy time management should have anticipated this and allocated another cook/cooking facilities. After waiting so long for an omelette we were disappointed by the size - we had to request another to make our wait worthwhile. My partner and I have worked in the hotel industry for a number of years (Radisson, Ramada, Holiday Inn) and we were disappointed by the rundown nature of the room (a painting of the walls would suffice) and other areas which do stand out when your background is in the hospitality arena. The hotel has a good view if you opt for the sea-view rooms. The cleanliness is average - both of the rooms as well as the other parts like lobby. The food too was average. The location is REALLY good, the bus stand is right in front, you can even get cabs easily. Budget restaurants are also right in front. It was easy to find the hotel. The price was reasonable as it comes with breakfast. However, they need to improve on the service standards. The hotel was fully booked and the breakfast was a total mess. The tables were not cleaned properly, food on the floor, the buffet area was messy with droppings of food and the service staff was unattentive and […] no smiles. They opened the Ballroom for breakfast as the coffee house was full. It was explained to me by one of the service team that the food items offered for beakfast at the Ballroom were the same as the coffee house but it were not. Only a few items were served in the Ballroom. In addition, he did not mention that we could go to the coffee house to take the food even if we sat in the Ballroom. The whole breakfast scenario was very disorganized. The toilet bowl in my room was not cleaned properly and the floor was not vacumed as there was alot of hair. The pillow covers were not changed. There was a big stain on one of the covers. Pillows were uncomfortable. The Chinese girl who is not wearing a uniform at the reception needs to smile. She looked so serious, not even a welcome smile. I stayed on the fourth floor and could not sleep because of the loud music. Overall I would recommend this hotel because of its reasonable pricing but they need to improve on the service standards. Friendly staff, beautiful balcony view and big room. We were very happy with the value for money of this hotel, and it is located conveniently between the 'beach' areas and Georgetown. The buses are very easy to use to travel around and the bus stop is right outside the hotel. Would definitely recommend for a pleasant stay.

I would highly recommend the flamingo by the beach. Great all round service, the rooms are very clean and tidy, the services are great. We had an excellent massage from the Spa, and the entertainment was great. I will be back for sure. Thank you once again guys for a fabulous stay.

The breakfast selection is great in the morning. The location is quite far away from tourist destination. You can take the bus to go to the town or other tourist destination. If your used to 2 star, then by all means stay here. If not-stay clear of this hotel! I'll start off with the positives, as there were some: -Flat screen tv -Room was big & plenty of room -Small fridge -Room service -24hr reception -Free shuttle bus in the afternoon (make sure you book at reception) -Pool Not so good: -Bed is hard -Mould in bathroom -Room […] smelt like sewerage as it was going through the air con system-so bad! -Bed sheets had stains on them -Sliding doors out to balcony are to big and don't fit which means there is a gap letting heaps of noise in. If your on the right side of the hotel facing the beach the hotel next door air con system is so loud we couldn't sleep, the higher you go is not as bad. -You get charged 10ringgit for every 100g of leftover buffet food on your plate at breakfast time-what kind of place does that... -No bacon, no maple syrup to go on pancakes at buffet breakfast. So if your a westerner and don't eat deep fried food in the mornings their is only toast and sugar coated cereal to choose from-we walked out & ate elsewhere. -Not in town at all, stay somewhere closer to town because there is nothing to do here. =Worst hotel I have ever stayed in-camping is better than this place!!! Overall, hotel is nice. Prompt check-in and check-out too. The downside of this hotel are slow replenishment on the breakfast buffet and slow in clean up room. As we went out around 9:30am and back to the hotel around 16:30pm, our room wasn't clean up yet. My children enjoyed the pool and beach very much.

We found the hotel was great value, rooms were nice and large compared to many in Asia. Facilities provided were good and staff were very helpful. The local area was great and the view from our Seaview room was wonderful to wake up to. A hint - try the Indian restaurant opposite - it is brilliant.
