"Overall good value and central location"
The Hotel Receptionist was extremely helpful and pleasant and deserves a good medal for the way she deals with clients. Condition of room was quite good, clean & comfortable. The location is very central to transport and sights but as mentioned in other reviews the area is becoming a bit grubby and noisy during the day particularly if your room is on […] the market side of the hotel. "Great hotel in Athens"
Hotel staff are very welcoming and the hotel is well maintained and comfortable. The breakfast options are extensive. The lifts are small but effective.Genuine Expedia guest review
We stayed for four nights and found the location very convenient. Although not overly large, the room was recently renovated and the tub area was replaced with a large glass enclosed shower. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and efficient.Genuine Expedia guest review

"May not be for all"
The hotel itself for the cost is well worth it. It is 5 min walk from the Monastiraski station and conveniently located from all the historical sites. If you are used to or willing to accept that that would be your view on the way out from the hotel will include open fruit markets; South-Asian style open meat bazar than you will be fine, as the hotel […] is right in the middle of an open bazar. You will have to walk through the open market to get to the hotel entrance. And the entrance does not look anything like it has been suggested in the picture. Your first impression of the hotel will not be great, but it is quite pleasant inside. Breakfast is adequate but would prefer a bit more variety for hot items on offer. Monastiraski is the poorer side of Athens and as soon as you crossed the Ermou road (next to Monastiraksi station) you will feel safer. Perhaps not a good idea to return to the hotel late in the night merely due to the surrounding. Most people understand some English and will be in hand to help if required. "Modern hotel suitable for business and pleasure"
Modern hotel in the Monastiraki area of Athens. The staff were welcoming, helpful and yet, unobtrusive. Our room, on the 8th floor, had superb views of the Acropolis, particularly when the Parthenon was lit up at night. Although minimilastic, the room had everything we needed - small fridge, comfortable bed and excellent shower. The room was cleaned […] every day ensuring a fresh and comfortable place to relax in. Many reviewers have commented on the location - next to the fruit and vegetable market and close to areas where there appeared to be "undesirables." Although the area was badly lit and full of graffiti, this was no different to many other areas of Athens and presented no problem. The hotel's location was, however, close to the restaurant and cafe area and only a short distance from all local transport. The busy, cosmopolitan area was a wonderful place to see all of the archeaological sites and museums and an excellent centre for shopping, eating and meeting local people. GO/CHAT tours, the hotel's recommended tour company, was excellent. Knowledgeable guides and pristine coaches provided us with opportunity to visit Delphi and Mycenae. Other trips were available - including two to four day excursions. We learned a great deal more about Greece's history and culture. To complete our visit, we would recommend Sun Transfer taxis. The firm provided an excellent service - even anticipating the delays caused by a protest march to make sure we got to the airport on time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location but too close to the wet market."
Great location, just minutes away from the Monastiraki Square where you could get all the delicious Greek food. Walking distance to the Acropolis too. Very nice staff in the hotel. The only minus point I could say for this hotel is the location is right in front of a wet market, sometimes you get unpleasant smells if you open your window (my room was […] 1st floor) and when walking in and out of the hotel. Also a bit of noise, when window is open because of the market. Other than that, it is a great hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel, central location"
The entrance looks a bit wierd since the hotel is behind the market, but the hotel itself is great and the location is very central.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very clean, bathrooms great. Position in Market Area was good. Handy to local attractions. Breakfast was excellent, especially the scrambled eggs. Staff helpful. No photocopying or scanning though, which is a drama if you need these services. Internet Cafe near Hotel Plaka,, The guy there is very helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review

The hotel doesn't look much from the outside but inside it's great. We got a free bottle of wine on arrival. Our room was fantastic. Great bathroom. Great location for shopping, restaurants & tour buses & metro to the Port. Breaskfast included was great too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is in an excellent location within walking distance of all the main sights. The roof bar was an unexpected bonus with great views, and we were invited to have breakfast early as we were checking out at 6am. Sleep quality was also excellentGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is located in between the Psyrri and Omonia neighbourhoods in the middle of a produce market. The area is ok but I wouldn't walk around on my own at night as I wouldn't feel safe. The hotel itself is really great. The rooms are nice and comfortable and the rooftop has a really nice view of the Acropolis. The location is central enough that […] you can walk to the main tourist attractions or you can take the subway (5 min walk to the nearest station). The hotel service was good but the only thing I didn't appreciate is when the cleaning lady came into our room despite the do not disturb sign, which is not very professional in my opinion. "Comfortable, close, and friendly"
We enjoyed our stay at the Athens Center Square. The front door of the hotel opens directly onto the local fruit and vegetable market, which made for some interesting exploring. Many of the main sites in Athens are within walking distance (a longer walk for many destinations though) and public transportation is close by. The rooms were comfortable and […] fine for the two of us, but slightly on the small side. The staff were very helpful and friendly--we were able to grab a quick, basic breakfast when we had an early morning ferry to catch. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Athens safer than L.A"
The hotel location is central to many significant must see parts of Athens and in the middle of a large market district as well as being a five minute walk to Monastiraki train station which is part of the Metro system and has a direct line to the Airport. The rest is within walking distance to all that you would need to see, eat and drink. A basic […] breakfast begins at 3am with the full menu coming on from 7 till 10 so my jet lag was quelled as was my insomnia. The rooftop view is magic and although the room seemed smaller than I was used to I soon settled to appreciate it was one small part of a bigger picture. I stayed for nine nights and the staff, especially the beautiful Olga, could not have been more helpful and welcoming. I was so enchanted it felt sad to leave this city which at no time felt unsafe and reminded me how life is lived. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Great Stay in Atherns"
This hotel is in an excellent location, close to many attractions and the station. He hotel is in excellent condition and the room is well set out. We stayed on level five. The bathroom is small in size but well designed making it comfortable to use. Water pressure was excellent and the temperature hot. The hotel has two of the smallest lifts I have […] ever used but they proved adequate for the purpose. The buffet breakfast was excellent each day of our five day stay. "Great location, great staff!"
This hotel was in a really central location, 15 minutes walk from the acropolis and all the other sites were with in walking distance although Monastiriki metro station is only 5 minutes away and has a train direct to the airport, The staff were fantastic, they all spoke English which was great as my Greek is shocking, nothing was too much trouble, […] they recommended restaurants, drew directions on maps and talked us through the best places to visit and at what times, The room was what you'd expect for a three star and really clean and comfortable and the shower was great, it can be a bit noisy due to the market outside but great value for money! The roof is open all day and has great views over the city and especially the Parthenon, defanately worth a visit, we stayed for four nights and would absolutely recommend it! "Cheap, cosy and cental"
After staying in a business hotel in the city, we moved to spend the weekend in center of Athens. It is within walking distance to "everything", and the quality of the hotel surprised us all in a postive way. The roof terrace was tremmendous, and in summertime it must be a very nice place to start of the social evening! The breakfast was good, the rooms […] modern and quiet surriondings in the night. The bar is standard, cheap, and employees friendly! Also there is a free WIFI on the room! For a weekend strole in the town, I really want to reccomend this hotel, both for coulpes, friends and even business related stay. I will return to this hotel next time I am visiting Athens! "Great value for money."
Good, clean, well located hotel that is great value for money. We had some problems with the room safe, which were fixed quickly. There's a street market below which can be noisy from around 7am. We were on the 6th floor and it wasn't a problem, but it could be an issue if you were lower down. The entrance to the hotel is though the market - at night […] it can feel a bit intimidating, but we didn't have any problems (here, or in the rest of Athens - it felt like a nice city). What really made this hotel were the staff - friendly, knowledgeable, excellent in all regards. Roof terrace has amazing near-360 degree views of the city. It's one of the tallest buildings in the area, so you can see everything. I'd stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"A real find"
After many years of trying I think I've finally found the perfect budget hotel in Athens. There's almost nothing not to like about this one. If you love the real Athens this is a perfect location. I can't think of anything better than walking straight out into the fruit and vegetable market in the morning. A clean modern hotel with excellent service, […] very clean and comfortable rooms, a good breakfast and free wifi. My room was on the market side, but there was no problem with noise. Minus points were tiny. (There was some slight noise from nearby rooms and I wasn't overwhelmed by the 'Easyjet orange' colour scheme.) Finally, one of the great pluses of this hotel is that I could go all the way from my room to the airport (via the metro from Monastiraki) without once having to pick up my suitcase. And speaking as one of those mythical 'single older women' I can confidently say that there's nothing scary about this area. Robbery is always possible for any age and gender at any time of day, but taking simple and obvious precautions can easily take care of that. Very highly recommended. "Close to the metro station "Monastiraki""
The hotel staffs were nice and free wi-fi was fast. Also the bathroom was nice, and the wardrobe was super (there was a light in the closet)!!!! Plus, I didn't hear any noise at night or in the morning, even it's close to the central markets. I was very satisfied with the hotel, except the buffet breakfast (bacon tastes like rubber band), and the cereal […] wasn't edible at all. Btw, the hotel does't have a restaurant/room service for food, the only option you got is Domino's. I know it sounds odd, but the delivery is really fast, no more than 30 mins, and the price is cheap. At first the hotel was hard to find because the location shown on google map was wrong, it was another hotel, not Athens Centre Square. Later I found out they advertised on Kiosks, but it was really hard to see at night. The surrounding neighborhood seems doggy, but I had no problems with walking to hotel at night (2 girls). Metro line 3 (Blue line) from airport to Monstriraki for 8 EUR, then walking to the hotel for about 5-8 minutes. Taking a taxi from the hotel to the airport is about 41EUR. "Athens Centre Square Hotel"
Overall we stayed at 7 different hotels in Greece and this was by far the best. The bed was so comfortable, breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the view of the Acropolis was amazing. The staff could not have been more helpful and the bathroom although small had the best shower. There was a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us and it was very […] welcome as we had just got off a long distance bus. We were unfortunately tied up with one of the strikes so there was no public transport or taxis running when we arrived but I called the hotel earlier in the day and they very kindly arranged a private transfer for us. I would say that is service way above the ordinary. Although it was near the markets it was not noisy and we did not feel unsafe walking at night. Well Done Athens Centre Square. "Great Value for Central Location"
Used the shuttle from the airport which was a mistake. We were dropped off on Athinas, given bad directions, missed the hotel and ended up in the back streets where everyone says not to go! Should have printed off location map. It is in fact quite easy to find on the left hand side of the square used for the vegetable market, though the doors are disguised […] with a fruit and vegetable mural. The room was clean and had its own safe and fridge. Our bathroom had a large walk in shower (no bath) but this was no problem. Breakfast was good and although this started at 7.00 am, we discovered the basics were available from around 3.00 am for those on early flights or day trips. We felt very safe in the hotel and outside, so long as you tuned right on Athinas. Approx 5-10 mins to Monastiraki Square and a further 5 mins to the Plaka. The staff were friendly and helpful. Perhaps we were lucky but we were given a complimentary 15 mins internet to print off boarding passes. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"We really enjoyed Athens Center Square"
We stayed at Athens Center Square in August, 2011, and totally enjoyed our stay. The room was pretty and very clean and the hotel has a wonderful rooftop bar that offers an amazing view of Athens and the Acropolis. The location is very good too: 5-minute walk to Monastiraki Metro Station (direct when you come from the airport) and walking distance to […] all the archeological sites. "Athens Center Square hotel - location & view"
Other reviews have commented on the location of the hotel - we didn't ever feel threatened or vulnerable. The street leading to the hotel is well lit with lots of people around. If you're a light sleeping you might want to ask for a room at the back of the hotel as the fruit and veg market to the front of the hotel is a bit noisy in the morning but […] not much worse than any city centre hotel. The roof top bar has a great view of the Acropolis and is an ideal place from which to watch sunset. The rooms are clean and although they are compact, they are perfectly sufficient and well designed to make a short break comfortable. We would definitely stay here again when we next visit Athens and would recommend it to friends. It's a great location from which to walk to all major Athens sights. "Very Nice inside but surrounding neighborhood not the best"
We arrived on the metro at 9pm and had to walk about 2 blocks north. no big deal but the surrounding building were covered in graffiti and we didn't feel all that safe. Once inside the hotel the staff were very friendly and showed us how to get to the nice area's around the hotel (which were really nice once we got there). They were only about 3 blocks […] back south. The room it self was modern but smaller than I expected (I have never traveled to Europe before, I'm used to large North American style room). Very clean, nice shower and bath, everything that you need, and we even have a good view of the Acropolis. Breakfast in the morning was pretty good and they have internet access for a fee (which I didn't use). We we stepped outside, we were in a big market, that was nice and gave me a better feeling for the area in the morning. They always had at least two people at the front desk so I felt save that no one was just going to walk in wondering around. Because of the price point and that I dont mind walking to get to places, I would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Everything OK except the environment!"
Stayed in the hotel before and after we visited the islands. Arrived Athens very early in the morning and the surrounding of the hotel really shocked me. It is located right next to a fruit market (wet market) and when you walked out of the hotel, the stench and the debris on the ground are not very pleasant. Nevertheless, the location is superb and […] very close to all attractions and train station. The staffs are very helpful and I have to name OLGA who really makes our stay very comfortable. "4 days in Athens"
When I booked the hotel I had read a lot of negative reviews of the area. True the hotel is right in the market (the fruit market), and across the road is the fish and meat market. The fish and meat market are actually interesting to take a look around. Omonoia Square is a bit rough, but then the hotel isn't located at this square, the hotel is conveniently […] located close to Monastiraki and the Plaka Area (5 minute walk). Distances aren't great in Athens. So actually unless you want to you don't have to go to Omonoia Sq. Furthermore I was pleasantly surprised when I reached my room they had offered a complementary bottle of wine. Breakfast was good, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. It isn't a 5 star hotel but has a contemporary feel and is clean, safe and conventiently located. Once you step out of the hotel, you are able to experience the local life because there's a market right in front of the entrance Bad : Need across several streets to reach the hotel if traveling from Monastriki station, it's not very convenient esp with luggages. This is a great hotel if you want to stay centrally in Athens without paying too much. We recently spent 3 nights here and were really impressed, all the staff were so helpful, and offered us useful advice even when we hadn't asked them anything. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was really good. The only slight negative would […] be that we didn't feel 100% safe when walking back late at night, although nothing happened to us!
