Room was very clean, location was great; one block from the beach, very nice unusual playground for children nearby and adjoining restaurant served a good breakfast menu. Good simple room for a one night stay.

Everything was fine except that there was no AC and several of the rooms are poorly designed for fresh air circulation, so it was pretty "muggy" after a shower, even in mid-April.

The location of the hotel was perfect. The rooms were a bit dark though. Not enough lights inside. Other then that it was just what we needed.

The room was MUCH smaller than I expected from the photos. It said we had a queen bed bed but it felt more like a double. It is not the place to stay if you want to stay in and relax in your room. It is more of the room you get if you plan to be gone the whole time. The lake across the road is nice. The onsite restaurant has decent breakfast and prices […] but do not expect much from the server. He clearly did not want to be there. We had to ask for our table to be wiped and he seemed to have an overall "buzz off" look stamped on his forehead. We will not be staying there again. Very helpful staff right from the beginning. Close to everything and everywhere we needed to go. Room was very clean and had all the amenites, i.e., refrigerator, microwave, extra pillow, etc. Would definately stay there again.

We really enjoyed our short stay at this older, but very clean and comfortable, hotel near the beach and other attractions of Monterey. The room was a bit small but had everything we needed and was very clean with great in-room amenities, even complimentary bottled water and wi-fi. The only negatives were the tempeaarature of the spa (not hot enough) […] and the size of the pool towels (very small). Otherwise, everything was fine and we would definitely stay here again! This is a great little place to stay. It was clean, a good value, conveniently located across the street from the beach, a 1/2 mile from fishermans wharf, and in a safe neighborhood. Enjoyed the in room fireplace which helped keep fhe room warm on a cool Winter evening. A well maintained facility. Would stay here again.

The only thing we found out . There was not complimentary breakfast as was listed on Expedia website . There was a restaurant right next to the hotel . But we were not sutisfief with the food there. Booked in on New Years Eve. WAY overpriced...tiny room, with only a bed spread and sheet (Ugh..who wants to use a bed spread for a blanket?). No breakfast, instead we were given a crummy $2 off coupon to use in their diner. Nice location, close to beach and little lake, but I'm going to look for another Monterey option next time we visit.

Very nice, quiet and safe location. Easy to get to from Hwy 1. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was very nice with decent WIFI. The wall might be a little thin as I could hear the neighbor talking but it wasn't too bad. It was pretty close to downtown, within walking distance. I definitely would come back to this hotel.

My wife and I secured this room on Expedia and for the price were extremely happy with what we got. It's in a really ideal spot with easy walk to the beach front, beautiful parks, convenience stores, etc. They have a decent cafe in adjacent building and the employees are all bright and cheerful. Good food. We'd stay again!

We stayed here before and after a wedding. It was close proximity to downtown, and nice to be able to walk right out the door and a few steps to the water. A cute little place, we'd definitely return.

I have stayed at this place before and the location is great! The room this time was not as nice (water stains on ceiling of bathroom and tub plug not working) but overall ok for the price. Thinking the Expedia clientele are put in this back building for that reason. The rooms in the buildings by the pool are much nicer.

The bed was uncomfortable (springy and small). The room was also small, but the fixtures and decor were very nice. For the location and the area, the price was reasonable. The pool and spa were great and in good working order but the pool towels were the size of a hand towel, so I needed about 5 to dry myself off.
