The Lodge is very nice. We had a half cabin with large bedroom with balcony, couch, fridge, Sirsus radio and large bath. Room was clean and very comfortable. The restaurant was surprisingly good, with more interesting food than one would expect for a hotel near a national park (e.g., roast duck with figs, pasta with mushrooms, home-cured lox, and local […] fresh fruit for breakfast). Even the hamburger was excellent. The staff in the rec center, who gave advice about hiking and viewing spots in Yosemite, in the restaurant and at reception, were all helpful. The downside is the length of the trip to Yosemite. I think the Evergreen Lodge is the closest hotel to the Yosemite valley that is not actually in the park. The Lodge is about a 15 minute drive to the route 120 Yosemite Park , with another 45 minute drive to parking in Yosemite valley. The trip to Hetch Hetchy is somewhat shorter. Read more

This was our 2nd time staying at Evergreen Lodge when visiting Yosemite area and we absolutley love it. This place is in the middle of nowhere, but quite comfortable. It is not far from Yosemite Valley -- about a 40 minute drive, so it's convenient for visiting the Park, and is about as close as you can get to without staying in the Park itself. We stayed three nights at the Lodge and very much enjoyed the wooded location, property amenities and the chance to be away from the crowed Yosemite area for relaxing evenings. Our cabin was very nicely appointed with a private balcony looking into the woods. Although the Evergreen Lodge is about 45 minutes from the Yosemite Valley, it is worth the drive! On the other hand, it is only about a 5 minute drive from the Hetch Hetchy entrance of the park. The Evergreen Lodge was wonderful!! The staff were nice and the cabin we had was fabulous--spacious and clean! There is a nature trail, the John Muir house, […] recreation area, pool and hot tub, gift shop/grocery store, and a full service restaurant. The restaurant provides wonderful food and service but can be a bit pricey. The main entrees ranged from $25 to about $32. If you want a side salad, it is an additional $7. Burgers and sandwiches range from $15-20. There are sandwiches for about $7 in the grocery store, along with gelato, snacks, cereal, milk, and drinks, etc, etc.. Activities are available in the afternoon and evening, and they offer s'more making every evening. There are plenty of games, books, and other activities available in lieu of a t.v. in your room (not to mention movies in the rec hall and a night of bingo--with prizes). They do have some computers in the recreational area that have internet via satellite. Satellite goes in and out and internet is somewhat slow, but still available. Rooms have Sirius radio available at no charge. I would definitely stay here again. It was relaxing and fun and well worth the money! Great for couples or families! Lots to do for everyone! We enjoyed our stay at the Lodge; our room was "rustic," but comfortable. Our one reservation about the Lodge is that there are no places to eat except at the Lodge. So the dining experience depends completely on the Lodge's restaurant, which we found inconsistent. Our first meal was wonderful, good food and service in a comfortable setting. If you're looking for a quite, secluded place to stay outside of Yosemite Park... this is it. We stayed in a "Vintage" cabin that must have been one of the original cabins on the property. The cabin was small, but clean. We did not spend much time at the cabin, preferring to visit the park, sightsee and hike. The property has WiFi (don't count on it), playground area for kids, ping pong, pool tables, outside fire pits and a very nice common area. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. The only down side is the location... do not attempt to find this place in the dark. Even though it is only 6 miles outside of Yosemite, the road is windy and not marked well... several times we thought we were lost or had taken a wrong turn. Hotel was like being back in Muskoka in Canada. Rooms were all cedar cabins. Nice new pool. A little on the higher price side but if you are looking for a quality hotel stay in Yosemite this is it. At night in the tall pine the place is beautiful. New pool is great for summer.

The primary great thing of many great things about the Evergreen Lodge is that it is the closest lodging outside the park. The property is very very good, and great maintenance. We were extremely satisfied. If I had to complaint it would be on 2 points 1) housekeeping shuts early , we were not able to get an extra blanket around 11pm . 2) the drive to yosemite valley is about 50 ins to 1 hour. I did not enjoy the Evergreen. They are so worried about keeping the experience rustic and environmentally sound that they don't offer basic amenities, and yet they have the technology in place for a special high and low flush on the toilet. No phone in the room, and after hours how do you get in touch with the staff. The temperature dropped and the […] staff did not come around to make sure the heat was working, and it did not in our room so we froze. No TV or Wifi in the rooms??? I'm from the east coast so I was awake by 3 am each morning, and no I did not care to walk my butt to the rec center to get wifi or the phone. I would have been fine had they had a TV in the room to view while I waited until daylight, and wifi please - come up to the rest of the world. With satellite TV readily available there is no excuse. And the restaurant did not open until 7 am, 10 am Eastern, so I was starving by then. Open by 6 am please for the east coasters. I rise early back home cause that is my norm, even on weekends. To think I'm gonna change for a couple days is just stupid. Finally, the restaurant. Get some good mid-priced meals please. For dinner you go from hamburgers/sandwiches directly to high priced meals with very little in between. I guess this place is not set up for families, or at least it is only set up for rich familes from the west coast. I would have had a better time staying as far away as Modesto and driving into the park each day. Read more

This hotel was great- the 2 br cabin was wonderful and a considerable value in this expensive area. The lodge is wonderful and the hotel will only be improved when the pool/hot tub opens this Summer. The accommodations are in log cabins which adds to the outdoor experience but with comfortable bedding! It seemed like a beautiful tucked away village. We went in the July and there was no need for AC. The bed was so comfortable compared to other beds we laid on throughout our week vacation. We arrived at the north entrance to Yosemite National Park from Sacremento. Evergreen Lodge is just north of this entrance. We booked the High Country tour with Alex as our guide and had a great time. Some hiking and climbing made this an exciting adventure. The lodge has many family activities And lots of outdoor activities on the property for children. The restaurant on site has wonderful meals . Exclusive chef prepared meals, a little pricey and sandwiches etc. There is a tavern next to the restaurant with live entertainment. About the lodging itself...we had a cabin with it's own bath..sirus radio, couch which also made into a bed and a queen bed. Be specific about what you are looking for in lodging. We found that it took over an hour and a half to reach the Lodge from Yosemite Valley. Our room was 10'x10' and the bathroom 4'x4'-not exactly the spacious cabin shown in their pictures. We complained immediately but were charged for 2 nights anyway. Bathroom was dirty. Room was dark and dingy. Bathroom pocket door stuck every time-it required 2 people […] to escape the bathroom! We left after the first night-it was just too far a drive to leave the first night or we certainly would have! Do not be taken in by their false advertising. Read more

The lodge is not near a town and about an hour drive to the Yosemite Valley Floor. You must drive about 7 miles down a road that is a little treacherous to get to the location and you must buy all your food there or bring it with you and keep it in your room. It can be a problem in your car because of bears. The restaurant is a little pricey for entrees […] ($20-30 each), but the burgers were good and well priced at $10-$12 each. Don't order the Evergreen BLT it is awful, overpriced and ridiculously small! The room was tiny, but the bed was very comfy and there were board games to play in the room. Shower head was extremely low and its floor looked dingy. Our cabin had two rooms so we shared a wall and could hear the people next to us coming home at midnight which was rough, but the ammenities of the lodge are good. Two ping pong tables, shuffle board, smores, movies in the recreation room. We would consider staying again with a larger family group where we could rent a cabin for ourselves to avoid sharing walls. Read more
