The Residency Towers - Chennai (Madras)

This was my first trip to India and my first hotel experience. Now that I have been here for over a week, this is my review. It was clean and people on the whole polite (some English-Tamil language issues in the main breakfast area). Breakfast buffet was fabulous with choice of Western and Eastern cuisine. My sister and I booked a standard room on the […] 15th floor, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We had a 15th floor room. Only issue was the shower leaked in the sink area when we took a shower. The hotel was prompt in addressing this issue. Most of the staff were polite, but due to an assumption that we spoke Indian Tamil, there was one waiter who was rude in the breakfast area. Please note that although the foyer is nice, this hotel is equivalent to a Best Western, and consequently would not be considered as a four star hotel, by Western standards. I have travelled to multiple countries including developing ones and have never in my life experienced anything like I did at Residency Towers. Save yourself the trouble of poor service at the reception area, internet connection problems , noise from neighboring rooms, visible accumulated dirt /grime on phones, majority of the staff who do not speak […] or understand English, a manager who might be non-existent for all I know and pay $20 more per night to stay at a decent hotel. This is a good hotel with breakfast and wi-fi included in the room rate. Centrally located with easy access to shopping areas. With traffic being as bad as it is, this is a convenient location to reach places.

This hotel was well beyond my expectations. Besides the wonderful room, the amenities, beautiful decor, comfortable bed and the "fixed" positive attributes, the most important side is that the entire staff was extremely helpful and courteous. They went out of their way, spent much time to ensure that I was taken care of--from directions, to helping […] me find a taxi in the wee hours of the morning, they are the best. I was extremely satisfied with the services provided by the hotel, beginning with pickup scheduled at the airport, all the way to the 24-hour checkout which helped immensely. While I didn't get to sample lunch and dinner at any of the restaurants, the breakfast was quite good as well. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Very nice hotel with very good service. Our standard room was spacious and well outfitted. I had read reviews complaining abut street noise but we didn't have any problem. Very good buffet breakfast and we had dinner at Southern Aromas restaurant in the hotel which was excellent. Highly recommend.

The hotel was fabulous, the lobby was very impressive. The pool was good although that could use a few plants to make it pretty. What really let the hotel down was the customer service of the waiters, having dinner in the hotel restaurant, waiter took my order but not my husbands.Had to wave at him to bring him back. I mean come on basic waiting 101 […] make sure all parties have ordered. Didn't understand enough English to understand the questions about the menu. The travel conceriege was excellent, organised cars for us for our outings and that was a wonderful service. Read more

I cant say that Chennai is my cup of tea as a traveler, but residency towers offered a really nice escape from the busy streetlife. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. They had no problem offering a late check out even though we checked in at 9am.
