Wouldn't class this hotel as four star- no WiFi in room and a lot smaller room than shown on website. Also had to pay for use of advertised safe.

Great location and very friendly staff. Good place to stay and easy to walk to the old town or the beach (15-20mins). Staff were friendly and very helpful. Wi-fi available in the lobby only (additional charge to access in your room).

"Elendig hotell, styr unna!!"

Definitivt 4 stjärnigt hotell i Albufeira.

"Lovely hotel but not a 4 star"
08/26/15 macpep1 North Lanarkshire, United Kingdom
The hotel is lovely, rooms were very spacious, we were in room 426 & had one of the smaller balconies, it didn't bother us as we didn't really use it. The sun comes up in the morning near the top end of the pool & works its way round toward the restaurant area & beyond until around 7, this is where we had our loungers. Towels were removed if anyone complained. The rooms were big & spacious, cleaned every day, towels changed every 2-3 days & sheets were changed I think twice when we were there. The food really lets this place down, there is very little choice in my opinion, I like salad so I always managed to have something. We were half board & to be honest I should have went self catering as we ate out 4-5 times & didn't always make breakfast. As far as I could see people that were all inclusive could get ice cream at any time. The entertainers do a fantastic job for the kids but the night time entertainment is non-existent really for adults, we stayed a few nights as kids wanted to but it was finished by 10-10;30 at night. The entertainment is also indoors which doesn't really have the same atmosphere as sitting outside. My daughter tried the sauna once but none of us used the indoor pool or sauna etc when we were there. The location is good, 20 mins walk to the strip & 15 mins to the old town. I had a relaxing holiday here but would not go back to this hotel as I felt the lack of choice of food & evening & daytime entertainment for adults lets it down. Overall a lovely hotel though. Family of 4 with 2 kids (13 & 8)

"Not 4 Star"
08/25/15 steven30y Haddington, United Kingdom
First impression good. Lovely reception/restaurant. Room was definitely not four star. Large room but very tired. I had to tighten all door handles on wardrobes and drawers. Bathroom: Bath had rusty handles and mould round bath. Balcony was tiny. Couldn't even sit facing out had to sit sideways as the chair would not fit. Patio doors very flimsy. Open or shut you wouldn't know. Big problem with ants. Inside and out. Daughter slept in main room and the ants were all over her bed. No English channels so why advertise having a TV. Food choice limited but the food I had was always good. Not 4 star but palatable. Pool: Usual not enough sun loungers and pool to small for the size of hotel. Also pool was freezing. No entertainment for teens. Biggest bug bear as well plastic cups for your drinks at the bar upstairs. Also the cups were tiny. If you are self catering though you get a proper glass. :-( . On the self catering side this attracts all male or female groups out for a more noisier time than the family unit may be after. This is not to scare anyone as I read trip advisor to. Just a heads up. You can still have a good holiday but expect 3 star and it will be more to your expectations. Oh and just to say don't buy wifi for room it doesn't work. Use the free option in the reception area.

"Tiny pool area-Crammed in like sardines-not for teenagers"
08/15/15 Bids_12 Dublin, Ireland
Best bit about this Hotel is the location. Can walk to beach old town and strip. The lobby is bright and white and trendy with fresh flowers that looked amazing. Also the pillows were soft and the apartment was nice and clean and air con perfect. The pool area is dreadful. Too small for the number of people. The sun beds were good quality and there were as many squashed in as humanely possible but it was packed. Some days the person lying next to me actually touched off me if they went to turn on the sun beds. Had to get up by 8am at the latest if you wanted a bed. Half the pool area is always in shade and as its so packed in you cannot move beds to get sun as you are squashed in side by side. the entertainment is only for under 10 year olds with the odd bit of aqua aerobics every now and then. There is no table tennis table. I think they could invest in a table as it might give teenagers something to do. In fairness to the "entertainment " team they had no quality equipment to work with. Kiddies "felt darts" and kiddies archery. Dont go if you have older kids. They offer a courtesy bus to the beach which you have to book in advance. We didn't know this asked the receptionist if there was a bus at 1.30 and she said yes. 20 mins later we were still waiting. Asked about the bus and she said we didn't book so no bus with a smirk on her face.Walked to beach but booked bus from beach to Hotel for 6. It didn't turn up. Complained about it and driver said the receptionist did't ask him. Asked the receptionist the following day. She smirked shrugged her shoulders and gave no apology. When I asked her for one she gave a half apology. The hotel is on a cul de sac so trucks reverse up to turn all the time and at 6/7 in the morning you will hear the beeping of reverse lights.

"good holiday shame it was the wrong hotel"
08/15/15 Jlt6922 Manchester, United Kingdom
Having booked to stay at the Luna Clube Oceano we were informed two days before departing that they had double booked and would be "upgrading" us to their 4 star sister hotel . After spending over 2 hours on the phone trying to rectify this we were left with no choice ,so having booked in a hotel with great reviews right on the beach we were now stuck with a hotel with awful reviews 10mins from the beach. Anyhow we didn't let this spoil our holiday , however here are the pro's and con's: Pro - lovely reception area and pleasant, helpful staff. Good size room with big comfy bed. Cleaners in every day with towels and beds changed. Large pool. Con - Sun bed wars every day as towels out at dawn so unless you are an early riser you have no chance of securing a bed. Pool area too small for size of hotel and was so dirty I wanted to mop it myself ! Hotel is at the back of a busy shopping mall and faces the multistorey car park each time you leave to go out you face either a barrage of cars or artics making their delivery, the road is very busy be aware. We were self catering so can't comment on the food and we didn't stop in for any of the entertainment. We didn't see any Hen or Stag parties at the hotel and overall its not a bad place to stay.

"Small clean well located Hotel"
08/15/15 Hayley B Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom
Visited the hotel 1 week all inclusive during the 2nd week of the summer holidays Felt nervous due to past reviews on here and feel its only fair we leave a good review. we visited with 2 children age 8 and 12 and had an excellent holiday. The hotel is well located in easy reach of shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel is immaculately clean and tidy. The cleaners are around all the time and it is always fresh and inviting. Restaurant, rooms and all toilets are always spotless. The rooms are really spacious and cleaned daily to a high standard. The staff work really hard in the hotel. The food is of a high standard and for a smaller hotel we felt there was plenty of choice. The children were a little more fussy but there was always a child friendly dish. Overall the hotel met our needs but having stayed in bigger 4* hotels with more amenities we can understand why some families feel that there is not enough going on. The hotel has a small entertainment team that work a few hours in the day the children are entertained around the pool area. We enjoyed the pool but it was always really busy. You had to be up to get a sun lounger by 8am if you wanted one. More sun loungers are needed. All inclusive drinks end at 11 which was a bit of a pain really. We loved going to the old town at night there was always lots going on. Our children preferred to go there rather than stay at the hotel as they got bored. The hotel was very accommodating of our needs. There is a free bus that will take you to the beach twice a day and pick you up which is really helpful. The driver is very friendly. We went on trips to zoo marine and the hotel helped us to book this with a discount and also sorted us out a taxi to villamoura and back which was really helpful. We had no trouble with Hen and Stag parties as stated and all families were friendly at the hotel. Overall the hotel met our needs its clean and tidy and well located just don't expect absolute luxury. It well priced for what you get. We would stay again.

"Avoid if travelling with children"
08/13/15 Philliusfogg
We stayed in this hotel in may 2015. The good points are location and the cleanliness of the hotel. The staff were, in the most part very pleasant; particularly the cleaning ladies.. Now the bad; There are no kids facilities or entertainment and the pool area is simply dangerous for little ones. Whilst we were there it was over run by Northern Irish stag and hen parties. You could turn a blind eye to the boozing shouting and swearing if you were there with a bunch of friends but if was an atmosphere that was absolutely unsuitable for kids. We spoke to the manager to see if we could use the pool facilities in another nearby Luna hotel during our stay and he informed us that the clientele would be no different there. We went on an all inclusive package which would have been good value had we not had day trips away each day to get our kids away from the place. The food was fine but unvaried. I think this hotel should market itself as an adults only 18-30 resort and make it very clear that families are not catered for.

"Great holiday"

Just got back from a 10 day stay at Luna Miramar. Hotel rooms were very spacious and clean. Reception staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. Pool was a good size (albeit a bit cold!) there was a lack of sunbeds but if you hang around for a bit a few soon become available. We were all inclusive and found the food to be good and there was something for everyone, although slushi's are €1.50 even if you are all inclusive. Entertainment was our only gripe, it's great if you are travelling with young children but for teenagers it's not great, there is something on every night but it is pretty poor so we spent most evenings sitting by the pool playing cards, which was fine. All in all a good hotel in a great location.

"Great holiday- you can do as much or as little as you wish!"
08/13/15 ladycOldham oldham
stayed here at luna mirimar from 3-10th august, with 2 children age 15&11,so pleased with the location 15 min walk to old town and prob abt 20 mins to strip up hill,we prefered old town, its got everything you need without as much rowdyness, lets be honest young ones head to strip for drinking and partying, the train was 4euro for all day ticket and you can get off at both places so well worth it if you dont want to walk all time. The fishermans beach at oldtown is beautiful and lovely at night to see and photograph with views behind. The beach at the strip end oura beach is also worth a visit. The apartment we had on the fourth floor was lovely and clean, kids had a settee bed but was comfy enough for the week, small kitchen etc so great for filling fridge with drinks,we stayed half board so ate our for lunch mostly, the restaurant was excellent, the food was buffet all you can eat so that was a bonus for us with evening meal and breakfast, also drinks were included at meal times, wine if u wanted-but we dont drink wine so had soft drinks but was impressed with the choice and hot food all time, the chef cooked grilled meat infront of you and you can see how its very good and clean.I thought the soft drinks were pricey,we had to buy in day as we werent ai but a can of coke 2.20 euros, bit steep! It was pricey everywhere though,i couldnt believe a 1.5 l water was 5euros in a steak place ,not posh place but in supermarket you only pay 1 euro, bit of a rip off and again soft drinks 3euros each!beer was ok 3 euro and 2 euro in happy hrs in some places, cocktails rip off unless happy hour then they were 5 euros. We went to the aquashow waterpark which was great, booked at the shopping mall nxt door to hotel as was cheaper, even booked a private shuttle car ,was just us 4 and was 40 euros return, same price as bus would cost and would have taken longer with stops etc, well worth doing that.Overall the holiday great lovely place, beautiful part or Portugal, all i would say about hotel would be,the pool area bit small so sunbeds got taken early on,you had to get up at 7.30 to get beds, and the wifi was hit miss in reception-just slow and didnt always work-but not too major problem, also one thing i would definately change is the fact that the hotel does not have any outside space at night to sit and enjoy drinks!so the lounge areas lovely but inside and too warm,we would go a walk later on again and find a small bar round corner,id rather sit outside on holiday!apart from this its great.

"Very Good Holiday ..... a couple of "buts""
08/07/15 Clare S Yateley, United Kingdom
Luna Miramar is a medium sized hotel with 100 rooms over 6 floors. Transfer time from Faro Airport is approximately 1 hour. There is a large supermarket around the corner and numerous restaurants/bars within walking distance. The sea and Old Town are a 10-15 minute (hilly) walk. My 3 children (aged 16,14 and 10) and I stayed here from 30/07/15 to 05/08/2015 on All Inclusive basis. We were greeted at reception by efficient and friendly staff who checked us into our rooms upon arrival @11:30 even though the official check in time was 4pm. The reception area has undergone recent renovation, is stylishly decorated and spotlessly clean. Free Wifi can be accessed here, but is intermittent and unreliable. We had 2 twin apartments next to each other, both with balconies (224 & 225). The view was of the rooms opposite. The rooms were spacious with a sofa and well equipped kitchenettes. The twin beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows; the air-conditioning effective. The maid came in straighten the covers each day and swept the floors. There was little evidence of cleaning; marks on the fridge door that we inherited, (looked like melted chocolate) were still there when we left. The balcony in 224 was a good size, with a table and 2 chairs, and got afternoon sun but sadly the floor was so dirty we did not feel like sitting out on it and no attempt was made to clean it during the week we were there. The restaurant is a large and spacious room with doors out to the pool area. The meals were of a very high standard with a wide variety of well cooked and presented hot and cold meat, fish and vegetarian dishes on offer at each meal time. The salad bar at lunch and dinner and fresh fruit at all meals would be hard to beat. My youngest daughter particularly enjoyed the homemade pancakes at breakfast. My son thought the vast array of cooked meat on offer was his own personal nirvana, while my other daughter and I sampled many new fish dishes that were exceptional. Upgrading the antiquated toasting machine available at breakfast with the more usual conveyor belt system would be a welcome improvement. The open oven/grill with tongs and rack currently available is very difficult to use without burning your fingers. The soap ran out in the restaurant toilets on day 2 and despite mentioning it to several members of staff, they were still empty when we left which I considered to be extremely unhygienic. This aside the restaurant was clean, floors were mopped daily. The area around the pool is a little small for the size of the hotel, but we always managed to get a sunbed at some point during the day, but most/all of the sunbeds were reserved by the time we came down to breakfast around 8:30 There is a pool bar serving drinks and limited snacks, however there is a somewhat complicated list of rules over what's included and when it is available. For example AI ice-cream is only on offer for a couple of hours in the afternoon. Other ice-creams could be purchased all day. The pool area was tidied and swept each night but was not washed down during our stay and consequently was sticky with spilt drinks and icecreams. The pool itself is a good size and has a shallow part sectioned off for the use of small children. There are cracked and loose tiles and the drainage channels around the pool have an unpleasant black algae like substance in them. But that aside the water was clean and we all enjoyed cooling off in it. There was the usual array of activities available during the day, including water polo and aerobics but options in the evening were limited to karaoke and some bits and pieces that the entertainment team knobbled together. I did see a singer there one evening who put together a reasonable set. We mostly sat outside until it was dark playing cards and chatting. There were many options close to the hotel if a livelier evenings entertainment is required. We took at trip on the boat "Amorita" to experience the coastline and visit the caves. The reception staff couldn't have been more helpful in organising this for us. It was a fantastic day out - and represented good value for money (30E each, half price for children which included lunch - I would suggest that you take a hat and water as drinks on the boat are expensive) Taxis to the The Marina are 6E each way and worth a visit even if you do take not take a trip. We also spent a couple of days at the beach. It is lovely there. Sun loungers cost 2@15E all day 4@25E. There are many activities on offer, including a big inflatable sort of "total wipeout" thing that you have to swim out to. 2 of my children spent a hour bouncing around on it and gave it the thumbs up. I thought the sea is very cold! In conclusion, we had a very good family holiday and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is well situated and represents good value for money. What it does not provide in evening entertainment is readily available locally. The all inclusive option is as good as I have had anywhere and better than most. The staff are professional and helpful. The standards of cleanliness that are applied to the reception area could do with being extended throughout the hotel and updating the Wifi would be two suggestions I would make for improvement. If you are going there this summer - enjoy !
