We very much enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the hosts were great, very friedly and full of advice. The room we had was comfortable and as per the pictures on the website. I wouldn't say that it was worth the full cost of the rooms though. We got a 20% off for three day stay which I think was still over priced. We noticed that closer to the date of […] our stay the rooms were heavily discounted, which I think was a reasonable price to pay. Some of the information on the website is also a little out of date, the "views" from our room had dissappeared as plants had grown up around the building and although we had our own garden area, it didn't feel particularly private (ie we didn't feel comfortable to run between the outdoor shower and the room without a towel on as an access road to the executive villa (although not used) ran behind our room). Despite being in an isolated location, our sleep was interupted one night with a lot of cane trucks running up and down the road we were on. I assume that this is a seasonal problem or we just got unlucky on the night we chose? Read more

Mai Tai Resort is a small boutique establishment set in beautiful surrounds. One cannot fault the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms and resorts in general. We had a wonderful stay with Anthony and Andre and cannot recommend Mai Tai highly enough. I believe what sets it apart from the norm is the genuine friendly nature of the owners who ACTUALLY […] care. The Balinese theme is wonderful and creates a great relaxing atmosphere. The new self contained pavillion perched high on the mountain is absolutley fantastic (You have to see it). My wife and I will be recommending the Mai Tai Resort to all of our friends and family who might find themselves travelling to Port Douglas. Hard to find. Very small sign and not visible if arriving at night. Very private, only 4 rooms in resort. Was very dodgy to arrive but it's deceptive. Owners are frendly, rooms are clean and views beautiful. Amazing breky.

Authentic Balinese statues either side of the welcoming entrance confirmed our 6 day stay was going to be great! Mai Tai ticked all the right boxes- 1. 4 rooms plus one large Villa = less people. 2.No children = bliss. 3.Peace and tranquillity. 4. mins to Mosman/Port Douglas. The 5 star detail was noted & greatly from the time we arrived to the time we waved goodbye. Our 'Poppy Room' was attended to every morning whilst sitting at the table which accommodated guests for a continental breakfast.This was to say the least, scrumptious. Delightfully presented settings/cutlery adorned with freshly plunged coffee/tea,tropical fruit platter, warm croissants, breads to toast and cereals, fresh juices.Overlooking the rainforest, gave us an overwhelming feeling of relaxation and contentment. The weather was truly spectacular .and although the rain did fall on two days, it didn't matter. The pool was clean, warm and inviting, the lounge chairs comfortable.
