"Amazing B&B, definitely staying here again!"
The owner/manager of the facility were great, from the moment we got there until the moment we left. The room was amazing, we had our own private bath and private deck, the front porch was so relaxing - I sat outside and drank my coffee there in the morning. The breakfast was hands down DELICIOUS! I highly recommend this place!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
With my wife and my son (20 yo) we spent 3 nights in this B&B. We had booked a suite (one bedroom and an additional room used as bedroom). The reviews on this site convinced us to book here. Indeed, this B&B is well placed in walking distance from Angels Camp and driving distance from interesting spots. The house itself is an old charming house, well […] decorated. It was a pleasure to have a glass of wine on the patio at the evening. The beds were comfortable. However, with such a high rate we have unfortunately some CONS. The bathroom is located outside the suite (usual in a B&B). But it is a very very small room including an even smaller shower and the toilet. At the morning, you have to show up in front of the other guests wearing your pyjama to go to the bathroom... One sink is located in the bedroom itself. Moreover, guests from another suite had a direct view on our window and in our bedroom. The way we were welcomed is another issue. We found a paper nailed on the door with our name on it inviting us to help ourselves.... nobody in the house. After we settled (almost 30 minutes later), the hosts appeared and provided very few information about the environment. During three days we saw Rob once when he was taking care of the flowers. Tey was our main contact for the breakfast... obviously very nice and available hosts but not actually as friendly as we expected in such an expensive B&B where you stay three nights! The breakfast was outstanding. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Totally Worth It"
We stayed in the Chardonnay Room on July 4. The entire property is clean, there were freshly-baked cookies waiting, and complimentary beverages available at all times. The room was small-ish and the bathroom is not directly accessible from the room, but the charm makes up for that. There also appear to be no working locks for when you're away, but I […] felt pretty secure. There are slide locks for when you are there. The hosts were present, but we didn't get to interact much with them. Breakfast was delicious. I strongly suggest the baked eggs, fresh fruit, and orange juice. We stayed for two nights and had the place to ourselves. The main house, patios and gardens give a sense of peace and tranquility. The owners were very helpful and breakfast was very good. They made us feel very welcome.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great old home near downtown area"
The home is clean and well maintained. The breakfast menu provides excellent made from scratch items that you would normally find in a better restaurant. The owners provide wine, beer and softdrinks, for late afternnoon refreshments. They have a great old home with a covered porch and shaded front yard for a restful late afternoon break. "Cabernet Room Feedback"
Had I not needed to use the sitting room for its bed, my stay would have been much better. Unfortunately, I was traveling with three people and booked the room knowing I needed to use the second bed. The problem with this room is the following: 1) it has two french doors that opened onto the main sitting room 2) the fabric curtains could not block the […] light from coming through. This resulted in a family member sleeping on the floor in the main bedroom. The innkeeper needs to figure out a way put blind in the room to make it dark or dim the lights in the main sitting. Surprisingly sound was not an issue. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A hidden out of the way gem"
The Cooper House is a quaint & charming B&B with lovely gardens, Victorian touches , comfortable beds, gracious hospitalty, good food, all in a laid back manner. The only problem is that it is not convenient to Yosemite as presented in Expedia, unless you are coming or going to or from Northern Callifornia. For us, the drive was hours out of the way […] having traveled from the east side of the park. The saving grace was the beautiful drive through montain passes (fortunately in good weather) and the quaint old Westen towns along the way, and of course, Cooper House itself. "Stay at Cooper B&B"
Our visit was very pleasant. The host - Rob - was great and very accomodating. The B&B is right in Angels Camp - and it is a very interesting little town. We took advantage of the free wine and Rob made us up a breakfast to go, since we had to get on the road early. My wife and I would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cozy, quiet and AMAZING breakfast"
Pros - family style sitting/dining room - breakfast quality is beyond awesome - quiet - private balcony Cons - Some furniture not well maintained - Bathroom just a little too small - two hours drive to Yosemite Overall - Old-style B&B innGenuine Expedia guest review
the B&B was cute, but not worth the ~$250 price. we informed the proprietor rhat we had to leave early (~8:00) the next morning. His response was "well, breakfast starts at 8:30". there was no offer of any adjustment. we would not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Could have used a better complimentary beer and wine selection....but other than that the place was perfect....the privacy and cleanliness of this place were well worth the money to meGenuine Hotels.com guest review

It was fantastic. Breakfast was great and the owners were incredibly friendly. A note pinned to the door directed us to our room and also to help ourselves to a glass of wine and sit on the porch! "Great place to stay"
Well. It was a shock for a Brit as there was no key to our room or the bathroom. But once you realise that they have NO CRIME in Angels Camp, you get past that. One of those wonderful places that you are sorry that you only got to stay for one night. Maps suggest that it is just off the busy high street but it’s actually a beautiful quiet oasis. A decking path leads through a pretty garden to the verandah entrance and the Great Room. Bedroom was a good size plus, in our case (Chardonnay suite), a patio area under a fig tree. Complimentary wine, beer, coffee, water & soft drinks enhanced the experience. Breakfast was selected the night before from a fairly wide range of options and nicely presented in the morning. Minor criticisms: no AC (but good ceiling fan), no room safe, “private bath” does not necessarily mean ensuite – ours was next door. Would we go back? Definitely.
"Exceeded our Expectations"

My Husband and I stayed in Angel's Camp on our return trip from an extended stay at Lake Tahoe. Angel's Camp is such a charming little town and Cooper House is a wonderful place to stay. Rob and Tey have clearly worked very hard to create a very welcoming environment that is impeccably decorated. It made a perfect homebase for our explorations in the area, including a hike at Calaveras Big Tree State Park. The breakfast choices were extensive and delicious. We're looking forward to a return visit next year.
""A great place, conveniently located""

Old, elegant and funky. Very laid back. Wine, beer and munchies available 24/7. None of the rules that are usual with B&B's are extant. We got there early and no one was there. We called Rob who said help yourself to beer and wine and he would be there at 4. Breakfasts were excellent (try the French toast) and very filling, and pretty much made to order. Cabernet suite was spacious with comfy bed and linens. The bath was 3' down the hall, but it was no problem. We were the only guests and had the run of the place. Kudos to Rob and Tey for running a great place. The conversations with the proprietors while relaxing on the spacious porch were a highlight as were the peaceful surroundings.
"No closet, only two small drawers, toilet & shower down the hall"
05/19/14 harrydCalifornia California
Small, funky rooms. Ours had no closet and only small drawers in the nightstands to store our clothes. The sink was in our room, but for the toilet and shower, you have to go out into the hallway to access. Very small flat-screen TV. Breakfasts were good, but nothing special. On a more positive note, the WI-FI worked good. Overall, this was probably the worst B&B I've encountered in years.
"It couldn't have been better"
04/04/14 Susan E Madera, California
The beautiful historic house is obviously lovingly decorated with interesting period items and comfortable furnishings, and the house is absolutely spotless from top to bottom. A fire in the fireplace and warm chocolate chip cookies greeted us at the end of the day, we fell into a most comfortable bed for a restful night's sleep and awoke the next morning to a delicious made-to-order breakfast. Tucked on a small residential street, Cooper House affords both privacy and easy walking access to downtown Angels Camp. We couldn't have been happier with our choice.
""Our new home away from home""

My parents stayed at the Cooper House many years ago. They talked about it for many years after... Rob and Tey are the new owners! Good job you two! Quality linens, fantastic mattress, nice pillows, spotless rooms. We really loved the green soap shaped like a frog. The free beer, wine and bottled water is a nice touch. Direct TV and the flat screen is really cool too! We could have sat next to the large fire place all night. Tey takes care of the breakfast, "yummy" then runs the upscale candy store downtown, "yummy". Downtown is a nice easy walk from the Inn. Sidewinders is the best place for lunch. When we go wine tasting in the foothills, the Cooper House will be "our new home away from home".

5+ stars for Rob and Tey - the incredible hosts at Cooper House. They were so gracious, friendly, and truly took care of us during our stay. I even have a very unusual food allergy, and they went out of their way to make sure that was taken care of so that my breakfasts had all the "parts," too. My husband and I were at Cooper House for 3 nights. It was very nice to be able to choose what we wanted for breakfast from their menu; the menu included both cold breakfast items as well as hot dishes. Tea and coffee are available all day long, along with soda, wine, and beer. We were treated to freshly baked cookies in the afternoon. We loved that Cooper House is close to wonderful old downtown Angels Camp. We walked easily down and enjoyed the shops, restaurants, and also the theater on the main street!!! All the shop keepers were so friendly. The Inn was very clean - and since we were the only guests during our stay, we were able to really enjoy the living room and fireplace completely. We felt very comfortable laying on the carpeted floor in front of the fireplace. It was very relaxing - just what we needed. It was very quiet and no noise distraction of any kind. The front porch was very inviting with a couple sets of chairs; the weather was such that we didn't sit out there but . . it would be lovely in warmer weather. There are board games for guests to play; we'd planned to do that - but . .just relaxed instead! Cooper House in Angels Camp is centrally located so that day trips can easily be made - in all directions. Robes are provided. In that this is, as shared previously, an older home - the former home of Dr. Cooper, while each room has a designated private bathroom, the bathrooms are not part of the bedroom. Again, the bathrooms were spotless and very nice amenities (soap, shampoo/conditioner and lotion).
"Perfect stay for your Murphys wine getaway!"
My husband and I just returned from a 3-night stay at the Cooper House, and we loved it! Rob and Tey were warm, welcoming hosts, and if we are ever staying in the Calaveras/Amador area again, this will be our first choice! The house itself is darling ... house of Dr. Cooper, former doctor in Angel's Camp. It has all of the charm of an older house, but with modernized amenities that do not make it feel like a rustic experience. :-) Since we were there in December, and it was chilly, we didn't really take advantage of the amazing front porch OR our own private deck outside of our room (one of the perks of the Chardonnay room), but if we come back in a warmer season, would love to enjoy a cup of tea or glass of wine out there. As it was, we got to enjoy the main sitting room instead, which had a wood burning stove going all the time, ... great place to sit and read your book, or play some of the board games that they have available for guests to use. You can even pour yourself a glass of wine or beer, or make a cup of coffee and have a fresh homemade cookie to go with it. :-) Every. Day. :-) It is very QUIET. We enjoyed that. Just what we were hoping for! The breakfast was so good, and I really appreciated the attention to local and organic foods. I know that is not easy or cost-efficient for hotels and restaurants to do, no matter how much better it is for you than conventional. What separated Cooper out from other B&Bs that we have stayed at is that you get to choose what you'd like for breakfast, every day. There is a nice variety of selections, and it was fun to get to try several delicious things. Since our last morning was New Year's Day, Tey even brought out champagne and poured us mimosas (fresh squeezed OJ, of course!). :-) Can't go wrong with Cooper House! Thanks for a lovely weekend! :-)
"Lovely but pricey"
10/17/13 hardy46 New Zealand
We stayed at Coopers recently and thought it was a very pretty, comfortable and of old-fashion quaintness! Location is lovely with a beautiful garden and porch area. Comfortable quiet bedroom with good quality linen. The bathroom was a bit quirky with the old fittings but everything worked well. We found the breakfast menu a bit confusing but we could of asked for clarification. Tey and Rob were friendly and helpful with suggestions. We did find it was a bit pricey when we compared it to similar B & B's in California otherwise it was a pleasant stay.
"Recent stay at Cooper House"
08/24/13 Leigh B Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, United States
We recently spent 4 nights at The Cooper House with our grandchildren and we would highly recommend this B&B. The breakfast is excellent with numerous choices that appealed to the whole family. The late afternoons on the front porch with wine (provided by the owners) was a restful break in our sightseeing. We found the location to be ideal to see the surrounding area. Our grandchildren enjoyed the local horse back riding and swimming in the downtown stream. We had a great vacation and the owners could not have been more helpful.
