I only stayed here one night, but this would be a great place to bring a family, and stay for several days. The 2-bedroom condo was clean and comfortable, loved the gas fireplace, comfortable bed, and the kitchen was handy. Access to the units is a little inconvenient -- lots of steps to go up and down, especially if you're on the back side. But the location is great, just outside Banff, and just a 3 minute drive to Canmore.

I called the hotel when I made the reservation and they informed me that the previous wifi problem had been solved. When I arrived, the in room wifi could connect but was so slow that it was unusable. The manager said that the wifi had been upgraded and worked well on his phone. But, the wfi access stopped from the room and was even slow in the lobby. One day the wifi did not work anywhere but I suspect they were upgrading the system. During the last 24 hours, the wifi was OK in the lobby but still unacceptable in the room. For two days we had to go to McDonalds in Banff to access the Internet. I trade stocks and there is daily maintenance of the account if one wants to succeed. But, the staff were so nice. I could tell that they were empathetic but the solution was out of their hands. The walls are thin. The parking lot was flooded.

The room was spacious and comfortable with a sitting space in addition to the bed. The hotel is within easy walking distance of shopping, restaurants, etc. Only complaints: 1) Early wake up call not received as requested for first morning (good thing I was up already) 2) Very noisy kids running in the hallway the first night 3) Radio came on early on second morning (I did not set it) I would stay here again.

t think for the price I don't think you can beat the place. Yes its a bit dated etc and parking could be tight (especially if those people with big trucks who can't park!!). If you want a cheap hotel its for you, if not, then pay more and go elseware.
Location.
Situated in the heart of Banff, King Edward Hotel is close to Canada House Gallery, Cave and Basin National Historic Site, and Banff Park Museum. Also nearby are Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies and Banff Lake Louise Tourism Bureau.

"If you need a bed and a shower, this one will do"
Don't expect much from this hotel, but if all you need is a bed and a shower (that was my case), King Edward will do. If you're looking for a romantic getaway, spend your money elsewhere. Free wireless internet was pretty fast. Free parking garage is right behind the hotel. "Bed bugs"
Having recently stayed in this hotel, we both suffered from itching and bites from what we believe to be bed bugs.. Our bed had what looked like broken base holders, so our nights sleep was on a very unstable and slanted bed. We are very unsatisfied with this destination
"Convienient and economical"
Very cost effective and right in the middle of the village. Was there only for a night and it was quite nice!

This is a nice place if you are not planning to stay in the hotel for very long. It doesnt have its own parking. Although there is a free parking behind this motel. The room rate was too high . They said it was a King bed and 2 other beds. The 2 other beds were like a military bunk beds. Even the King was sunk in the middle. The room was a disappointment. Why can't this hotel spend some of the high room charges and put it back in the motel.?? Find some other place. Not worth the time or money.
Clean but the smallest hotel room that my family of four has ever been in. Two people on bed and two on sleeper sofa, left 4x4 area to stand in. Only redeeming quality, being able to walk out front door on main street.
"NoLobby"
Hotel has no loby and is out of place in the resorty-environment of Banff village. I guess you get what you pay for and I picked the place because of its relatively low cost and got relatively low features in return.

This hotel is located at one of the main intersections in downtown Banff. If you like to be close to all of the shopping and restaurants at a reasonable price, this is the place. As the title suggests it was a perfect location in the centre of town. Smooth check-in, clean no frills room but free wi-fi, TV and tea and coffee making. Good room, small but okay for a night or two if you don't plan on being in it often. Bed was old but it served its purpose. Your on a main street close to the center of town wich is great except for the street noise in the morning. For the price of it compared to others in town its great. Parking in the back in a covered parkade for free.

It was noisy. People down the hall were partying till 3 in the morning. But the location is excellent. For the price it is not a bad deal. Just bring some ear plugs :)

I had to step outside and make sure the sign didn't read hoStel instead of hotel. Trust me on this one, I don't have the energy to list all the reasons. Spend about 20 bucks more and go across the street to Mount Royal Hotel.

"Right price, great location"
My girlfriend and I stayed overnight at the King Edward to see a concert in Banff and it was great. The room was cheap, clean and in the middle of the main street which was all we needed. There is free public parking behind the hotel but you have to move your car every 12 hours, alternatively the hotel itself has parking for $5 extra. Front desk was […] polite and helpful with directions and check in was quick. We didn't use the wifi so I can't comment on the quality of that. "Cheap & Basic if that's all you need great"
This hotel is very basic, if all that you are looking for is a place to sleep where the beds are clean, that's what you'll get. The location is great for a night on the town in Banff. Having stayed here a few times, it's hit and miss depending on who else is staying, but soundproofing isn't great if there's a party crowd in, and with reception closed […] at around 10pm, you do just have to put up or shut up!! "Affordable price for a reasonable room"
Reasonably priced for being close to the free parking garage and lots of restaurants. Front desk is very friendly. But we found a piece of hair on the bed, and in-room coffee maker was very dirty. Luckily we had a mug, so we used the common microwave to heat water and made some tea. TV was kinda small, old and placed very high that my neck kinda hurt […] watching it. We stayed here just for a night to head up to Louise the next day. It was so clean and the girl at the front desk was so great to us! She found us a fridge and brought it to our room so we could store our food for the next day, and the hotel is so convienient to run to a pub for drinks or dinner. Will recommed this for sure!

The hotel entrance was a little tricky to find as I arrived later in the night. The room looked fine. The bed appeared ok, but given that I have bed bug bites now.. not so sure it was as good as I thought...

This place is VERY dated and old. However, it is also very clean. Not the nicest, but if you're not planning on spending a lot of time in your room, the best deal. Great location. Crappy amenities. For those who are freaked out by things like this, seems like it could be haunted.

"Comfortable hotel in center of Banff"
I was in Banff to attend a conference and stayed at this hotel because the resort hotel for the conference was full. I found this hotel very comfortable and clean. In addition, it is in front of a bus stop from where I could reach the conference venue by bus in few minutes. Overall, it was a good experience.

King Edward was in a very central location right in the middle of town. Secure parking close by , staff very polite. The only downside was the outside street noise.

"King Edward hotel - Close to night life in Banff"
This hotel was very cheap at the time and that was why we booked it. Everything was okay until we lay in our beds. They creaked and were very old. We had a two single bed room. The beds were uncomfortable. This hotel is in a great location. It is right in downtown Banff. This was a great thing during the day but as 11 and 12 o'clock rolled around it […] was apparent that a select few people did not want to go to bed until very late. There was excessive screaming and yelling across the streets at each other. I guess these people were coming out of the nearby bars and lounges and had nothing better to do. The old windows in the hotel room did little to block the noise so I did not get a very good sleep. This of course was not the hotels problem but I should be able to make a problem like that go away with a good window. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Read more

I did like the stay, alittle upset that the Billard room was closed while I was there. The television wasn't the greatest, especially for channel options. And there should have been some recycling and garbage cans, other than the bathroom garbage can. As a young senior travelling alone, I was quite satisfied with my one night stay at the King Edward, chosen solely on the reviews of others. Being in the middle of downtown Banff was very convenient since I was without a car. The local bus service, ROAM, was great -- senior fare is only $1! If you're looking for a decent place to crash and nothing fancy (hot tubs, hotel restaurant/bar, pool, giant lobbys ) after days of Snowboarding/Skiing, this place is good and inexpensive. Lots of bars, pubs, clubs, restaurants in the area.

"Convenience of hotel location"
yes, location is great, but because of it parking is a challenge. Room is very small, we hardly could open a pull out sofa, not to mention to sleep on it was a real torture. Because of the beds and noise around we almost didn't get any sleep. No cups or glasses, tiny soap bar, not enougph towels.
