"Great location, warm and helpful staff!"
The room was small but very cozy and clean. (except for the mattress, way too hard for me! - which is an individual preference I suppose) No aircon so they gave us a fan and the window opened up to let in a nice cool breeze. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, I would highly recommend this hotel, all in all a wonderful experience in Banff!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My friend and I stayed here for my birthday this past weekend and the King Edward was great! The rooms were a little small but to be honest we didn't need any more space because we were out walking around Banff for the most part. The location was amazing, right on the main strip and walking distance to all the shops and places to eat. The staff were […] also very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others that are looking for a cheaper place to stay that's located in the city centre. Clean rooms, we had a mini fridge and bathrooms were good...forgot my hair dryer but they had one in the room as well. Thanks for a great stay! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best value in Banff"
Great value right in the middle of Banff. Well below the price of anywhere else, and having paid double for a room in Jasper the night before I was more than happy with this hotel. Granted it wasn't the biggest or fanciest I've stayed in but if you are looking for a clean, centrally located place to stay at a more than reasonable price, this is the […] best in Banff. Hotel was comfortable and clean, the staff friendly, but rooms are very small with poor lighting, also only one chair in the roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"One night only"
The hotel is right above a very noisy bar so you could hear people yelling and partying all night. The parking structure is a block away so you get to carry your luggage back and forth. The bed was very uncomfortable, the floor was stained and dirty/nasty looking. Definitely wouldn't stay ther again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Arrived and Left - stuck paying for the room."
Once I arrived and checked into my room, I was horrified. It seems my room had been stuck in time since 1982. The room was very shabby and not at all up to date. I couldn't tell if it was dirty or just old and worn out. My guess a combination of both. I pulled back to top cover to check out the sheets on my bed. The first thing I saw was some kind of […] goo (greenish white in color) on the blanket. That did it for me. I just left and found another hotel. If you are looking for a true budget stay, this is it, but I would say it's not worth it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"smallest, most uncomfortable room ever"
Although the staff was very helpful, the room itself was miniature for the cost, the bed was hard as rock, a VERY small "queen" and ancient (at least 15 years old)!! In a place that was so beautiful, the room seemed totally out of step with the atmosphere of Banff. It was extremely hot without A/C! We were NOT impressed with the facility.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Free wifi, good place to stay for people under 30."
Good for people under 30...backpackers and travelers looking for a cheap place to stay...and that's about it...Genuine Expedia guest review
"If you need a bed and a shower, this one will do"
Don't expect much from this hotel, but if all you need is a bed and a shower (that was my case), King Edward will do. If you're looking for a romantic getaway, spend your money elsewhere. Free wireless internet was pretty fast. Free parking garage is right behind the hotel. Since the hotel sits right on the central street of Banff, you'll be able to […] crawl back to your room even if you're an Irish celebrating St. Paddy's day in this small tourist village. The hotel is in a good location right on Banff Ave in the heart of Banff. The bad thing about that is it was a little noisy - my window overlooked the main street and I heard the partiers at 2am. The queen bed had a big dip in it and the springs poked my back. The TV was small and the picture a little too blue. Also, there is no onsite parking, although […] there is parking close by. However, it was the most inexpensive place to stay in Banff so it did the trick for the one night there by myself. And it was clean which is very important to me. I would recommend this place to budget travellers or people wanting to be close to the action, but if you want a bit more luxury, there are better options out there. Having recently stayed in this hotel, we both suffered from itching and bites from what we believe to be bed bugs.. Our bed had what looked like broken base holders, so our nights sleep was on a very unstable and slanted bed. We are very unsatisfied with this destinationGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap and cheerful"
I got an updated room which was well decorated. The walls are thin. The location is central. The staff are nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cozy, convenient, & clean"
Stayed for one night very last minute, booked online right before walking in & they had already received my booking like a minute later. Left early in the morning so we didn't explore the rest of the hotel & didn't use any of the amenities. Only thing is they charge a deposit to debit/credit that I didn't know about until we got there but you receive […] it back in cash in the morning. We got a room with just 1 queen bed & it wasn't too small, comfy for 2 people, & very clean. Bathroom was nice & the location & looking over Banff ave was nice. If we were staying longer, we would've liked to have had a fridge & microwave though. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
very basic hotel, but right in banff and fairly quiet. it was cheap and was practical if you're there for a night between ski days!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This hotel was fantastic for the price. The rooms were clean and you can't get a better location. This is not exactly the romantic getaway hotel but, great for a jaunt to Banff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Coldest night ever, no heat at -20"
We stayed there for one night, it was such a cold night, under -20 degrees and the hit didnt work at all. I called the front desk they came, the maintenance men came, but at the end the heat didnt work, we have been sick for a week after that, not good...... They didnt even appologize or offering us to move to other roomGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"You get what you pay for, if you don't pay alot"
Rock hard beds, uncomfortable sheets and comforter(ironicly enough), tiny room, but it was cheap and right in the centre of banff ave. all in all you get what you pay for and if youre not spending alot of time in the room anyways then its perfectly fine with no huge issues.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel close to everything!"
Very convenient. All the stores we want to see is just like 2-3 minutes away only.. A very good restaurant is just across the street.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Maybe it's just us...?"
The hotel itself seems to be a little old, and as my girlfriend and I stepped off the elevator on the second floor, a sense of intense vertigo gripped us. Even when we were in our room, the vertigo and dizziness continued. We knew we were tired from a day of driving, but this was strange. We realized then that the floor was on a bit of an angle, and […] when we jumped the whole room seemed to move. It was kind of like being in the hold of a ship at sea! Overall our stay was fairly pleasant. 4/5 Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Staff very pleasant and helpful. Room very small, but acceptable for a one night stay. Windows very good at shutting out street noise. Room comfortable and clean. I was concerned that young rowdies would keep us awake after drinking. Staff told us it wasn't a concern, as they assess customers when they arrive and if they appear to be of the rowdy variety, […] they are sent over to the hostel with the other more rowdy ones. Comfortable beds. The hotel provides parking for a small cost of around $5.00 and the customer is given an electronic key to access the parkade. However, when checking out, the key is returned to the desk and you have no access to the parkade unless you get your vehicle first and look for a parking spot somewhere else. Street parking in the area is at a premium. Suggest a lockbox be placed where the customer drives out of the parkade to drop off the electronic key after checking out. Great hotel for what you pay, compared to lots of other hotels in Banff. Room was clean but not spacious though really your in Banff so are you really going to hang out in your room. I'll stay again next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location but not much else"
We stayed at the King George hotel for one night in Banff. (Thursday night). The rooms were average at best - sparse finishings (two beds one desk and one chair) no closets - it was dark and dingy. Beds had bed-bug protectors - which did not help put my mind at ease. The rooms we were given faced banff ave - and the rooms had horrible sound proofing. […] Needless to say - we didnt sleep much. Constantly woken up by the sound of buses (bus stop below the hotel) and drunk people walking around! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient downtown location"
This was our 4th or 5th time in the Banff area, and we've always stayed/camped outside of Banff. This was going to be a short trip, and we just wanted to be within walking distance from the restaurants. Not the Ritz by any standard, but King Edwards was a great hotel for that purpose, and the staff were all very kind and helpful. Very reasonable rates […] about $150 a night in the middle of July. The room was so small! There were no space to move or to put our baggage. We also had two microscopic beds. There were no fridge and no micro-wave. It was so noisy that we couldn't sleep. The hotel has no parking (you need to go to the public parking and walk 5 minutes). It is not a very interesting place to stay.Genuine Expedia guest review

"No heat in the room - important in the mountains."
Woke up at 3 in the morning freezing cold - there wasn't any heat in my room. Front desk guy was nice enough to bring up a heater, and super quick. The hotel is good otherwise - close to everything downtown, not terribly priced if they could include the heat next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is located right in the middle of all the shops and restaurants in Banff. Can't beat the location. Sacrifice comfort for the price. Also, noise might be a factor for some. You could easily hear your neighbours even with door closed and tv on. Washrooms need updating, coffee in room was terrible. No microwave in rooms. There's one microwave […] at the end of hall. Not convenient. Bed was decent but had hard edges. Blanket and linens were the cheap thin kind. But location was the big plus. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The room was neat, clean and comfortable. If luxury is what you are after this might not be the place for you. However for an inexpensive place to stay, the King Edward can't be beat. "Great hotel right in the middle of downtown Banff"
When we first walked in, the staff were there to greet us right away and were very helpful with describing the parking - we decided to pay the extra 5$/night for the heated underground parking which was definitely worth it! We parked right outside the hotel and unloaded all of our stuff (snowboards, etc.), and took the secured elevator up to the third […] floor to our room. It was a perfect size for 2 people, with a decent sized, clean bathroom and one queen bed. We had a flat screen TV with a fair amount of channels - all we wanted to watch was the Olympics occasionally anyways, we were there to adventure, not sit in a hotel room! The mini fridge was great to have, and there was plenty of room for suitcases and snowboarding gear. The room was clean, as was the bed. It was great to be able to open up the window and get fresh air. Being downtown, we heard a lot of noise during the night due to the Dancing Sasquatch bar being right across the street, but with some earplugs it was bearable. We ended up out most nights anyways, and were normally tired after full days in the mountains so we crashed pretty easily! Being right downtown, there were plenty of shops and great restaurants all around us. Every time we entered or left the hotel, the front staff were always smiling at us and asking us about our days. I would definitely stay here again! Our trip was amazing, and the hotel and staff were great. Definitely would recommend! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
