The Alpha Hotel was perfect for our needs as we were wanting to stay in the Turreranong area. The hotel room was good size, the staff were friendly and the car park was close by. I would certainly stay at this hotel again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretty Average Really"
The room was comfortable enough and of a reasonable size with a reasonable fitout - the cleanliness was not as good as hoped and the mould on the sheer curtain a bit ordinary. The hotel "free" internet was a meagre 15mb which was a letdown compared the free tag on this site. Probably stay elsewhere next time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fits the bill"
Good choice if you are planning to visit Canberra for few days. Not a central location but most landmarks in Canberra are only 20-25 mins aaway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Basic, standard hotel"
It's just a basic chain hotel, nothing especially good or bad about it. Does what you expect from a chain hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was OK but is it usual to charge a refundable room bond of $100.00? Understandable a CC imprint just in case but,,,I had booked 2 rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the hotel was under going renovations at the time of my stay, but it was quiet, he staff were friendly, and it was very clean. top notch.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Just wanted a restful night!!!"
ROOM really pleasant, clean and attractive; Large tv great; staff helpful. (Gave me a bowl&spoon for my own muesli!!) The HEATING was difficult as the electric blankets were difficult to understand & switch on, but the staff came to assist me; Also, the air conditioner was hard to turn on and then , I couldnt turn it off and it kept coming on during […] the night, waking me up each time!! The whole point of me staying there was to get a good night's sleep before assisting a sick relative for a week!!!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Time to renovate"
The room was reasonable and clean. The bed was very comfortable. There is a tired look about the place outside and in the passageways and it is in need of renovation. It was a good place to stay for our purposes.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
very friendly staff and excellent service. clean bed sheets.Genuine Expedia guest review
Was good overall but hot water ran out after 10 mins. A little dissapointing to be woken before 7am by an extremely loud alarm and not being informed by hotel staff as to why or what was going on?Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was good. They were doing renovations so a a big worn down in pool area. The plans look great though. We were awoken to the fire alarm one morning veey early false alarm. No apology or explanation.Genuine Expedia guest review
Never will I star here again. Nothing was up to scratch and the service was appalling! Over priced, I could go on for hours....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Oasis in the ACT"
Great place to stay. Room was spotless and the bed was perfect. It was 39 degrees in Canberra so we spent a lot of time in the pool. Would definitely stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Everything it says it is"
This is certainly not the best hotel I have ever stayed in but in terms of price and quality it was as good as its word. Nothing fancy about the place but the rooms were clean and the service was good. There was a large wedding on the night we arrived so the meal service was reduces but there was still a menu that looked fine. Given the proximity to […] a large shopping centre we just went to a local Thai place and got take away - and a bottle of wine from the discount liquor store. We thought we would be in for a noisy night due to the wedding but didn't hear a thing. It is out of the centre of Canberra but is easy to get into and out of if driving. It was only about 20 minutes to get right out of town and onto the highway Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The motel is obviously set up for business travellers. The restaurant was not open on weekends. Otherwise amenities are OK.Genuine Expedia guest review
The comfort , condition and overall service of this Hotel is wonderful. The only complaint that I have is the breakfast. Terrible, Terrible. Hot food was cold and like glue. It seemed that it had been in baymaree for hours on end and they didn't seem to be keeping everything hot. The only good thing was the fresh fruit. The price for full breakfast […] was a bit pricey for the condition of the food. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Worst service ever in restaurant"
07/09/14 chrismaiden Melbourne, Australia
The service was abysmal with quite possibly the grumpiest and rudest waitress I have ever met. The pizzas were poor and soggy and we ate with the roof leading next to our table. Overall an incredibly poor experience for the whole family
"Very average Hotel"
Booked a deluxe room and stayed overnight last night at this Hotel and was very disappointed. Had a room above the rear of the Hotel overlooking the outdoor eating area which had no opening window so had to have the air con on the whole time. Absolutely NO mobile phone reception in room despite being with Telstra. The room was quite shabby with patchy, worn carpet and furnishing and very poor lighting. No guest directory in room and I had to go and ask for an in room dining breakfast menu. In bathroom no shelving or bench to put anything on when showering - there was a small sink outside the bathroom but not convenient when showering. Bedding was spotlessly clean but the mattress was really hard and uncomfortable. Had to park out back of Hotel and drag suitcase up steps to get in and Reception person said it's "pot luck" as to whether I would get a parking spot at all !! Sat in foyer trying to get phone reception and I was able to wipe the dust off the coffee table it was so dirty. Breakfast in room arrived at preferred time but was only average. Not even serviette on tray. Overall, very disappointing and I would not stay here again.
"Very caring staff"

I stayed at Alpha for 9 weeks due to a work engagement. The staff including the manager, front office reception, the kitchen and the housekeeping team took very good care of me to make sure that my stay away from home was comfortable. They really care for their guests and I would recommend them to anyone anytime.
"Mid Week Stay"

We stayed in June for 2 nights on a Groupon Deal. I rang to see if rooms were available before buying the Groupon Voucher & was told there were plenty of rooms, so I proceeded with the purchase & requested a balcony with a view of the kangaroos as suggested by other reviewers. I was advised there were no balcony rooms available but a terrace room with easy access. I was not aware that easy access was in fact a disabled accommodation. We thought it was easy access to all amenities. The floor does not slope correctly in the shower, so water went everywhere, you couldn't access the toilet without wading through water, so I had to ask Michael for a mop and bucket, which we kept in our bathroom for the 2 days. The hand basin was too low for my husband. There are only 2 disabled rooms in this complex & we were given 1 of them. Michael suggested we check the following morning to see if another room was available, but it wasn't worth packing up & shifting all our gear for 1 more night. You need to keep the curtains closed as the car park lights act as daylight, but I suppose this meant good security for the cars. There appeared to be plenty of business/public servants around talking in the corridors or out in the car park. The bed was comfortable & the room was clean. Scott the breakfast Chef did a wonderful job of the breakfast buffet & was very particular with the presentation. Apart from being mislead about our accommodation, the room was comfortable & close to 2 clubs & Hyperdome. We didn't like how the bar was setup right next to the reception desk. It was a bit of a drive back into Canberra to check out the Museum & other attractions.
"Average, nothing more, nothing less"

So Alpha hotel used to be run by country comfort and I have stayed there with CC for work many times (not a lot of choice in Tugeranong). My first time with Alpha. Not a lot of noticeable change, so my previous reviews of this place remain the same. However, I did note that the 3 course room service menu has significantly gone up in price and now no longer includes a glass of wine. So your better to go next door to the club, who offer better value and variety if wanting to dine.

Stayed on a Saturday night to attend a function at the club next door. Easy to find location off main road, with Tuggeranong Hyperdome, a large shopping mall, across the road. The reception area has a cosy lounge area with a fireplace to sit by, and a dining area adjacent which provided a very tasty and varied buffet breakfast. Check in was fast and all staff I interacted with were friendly and personable. The room was comfortable, with a firm mattress. There was very good lighting in the vanity area, and a good sized bathroom, with a dedicated shower, and no bath. (I personally dislike having to climb up into a bath to use a shower as you do in many hotels. That's never a good idea for safety reasons). Plenty of parking available in the carpark behind the motel, and a paddock filled with a large mob of kangaroos provides interest for those of us who think they're cute and cuddly and fun to watch. I would recommend Alpha hotel as a comfortable place to stay if looking for reasonable priced accommodation in the Canberra area, and it is only a short drive into Canberra City, or all the other attractions in Canberra.

Rooms were very basic, was not happy though as our room was not madeup as we "purchased via Groupon deal". Not happy this was not explained at all on checkin. Tea/coffee was not even replenished. Staff in the dining room need a little more training in customer service.

I recently stayed at the Alpha Hotel in Canberra during a weekend getaway. It was a great place to stay. The room was really spacious and set up well with all the essentials. There were also some lovely views to be seen - I really enjoyed being able to step out on the balcony each morning to the view of kangaroos in the paddock just metres away. The breakfast was really lovely too with lots of yummy food to choose from. Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely recommend it as a place to stay when visiting Canberra.

Following our recent family holiday, I can highly recommend the Alpha Hotel. The family room we had was a twin room. Queen size bed for the adults and 4 bunk beds for the kids in the other room. The rooms were clean and there was ample room to move around. Our bed was very comfortable, so it ensured a good nights sleep on each night. The staff were very polite and extremely helpful when directions were needed. Our kids are fussy eaters, however, the great selection at the breakfast buffet meant all enjoyed a hearty meal.
"Lovely Place to Stay"

Stayed at The Alpha for a girls weekend in Canberra. Found the room to be an excellent size for the five girls that attended the weekend. 5 beds in the room and still plenty of room to move around. The separate vanity to the bathroom made it easy and far more efficient for 5 girls to get ready before going anywhere. The foyer was a lovely place to arrive in, especially when stepping out of the cold and being greeted by a lovely fire place that kept both the reception and restaurant area toasty warm. Breakfast was hot and welcoming each morning with the restaurant being nice and cosy. It was nice to be greeted by happy, smiling staff who seemed like they were happy to be there. I understand that the hotel is under current reservations and can't wait to go back for a visit to see what it will look like. Was a lovely place to stay for a girls weekend away. I think we'll definitely be back :)
