Stayed in 2 Bedroom apartments, second bedroom was a bit tiny. Apartments do need some renovations here and there, but overall cant really complain! Reseptionist wasnt nice what so ever. However, the location is amazing and very central!

We needed a hotel in Manchester to stay in with a small baby so having a fridge and washing machine were very helpful. The executive suite we were in had a good view and everything was comfortable - but the bedroom itself was a little small. We had a great time in our apartment. Everything was great. My only problem would be how loud the room is. The street, with traffic and people, really works against this wonderful place. The only thing you can really do is just keep the windows closed. Other than that, everything else was great!

You are close to everything you can imagine. Shopping , restaurant , public transport, bars and gay village. All you need is pair of comfortable shoes to walk around and enjoy this place. Kitchen that you get is fully equipped . You can have nice breakfast before you head out. You won't regret your stay.

By far the best hotel ive stayed in yet. I was a little dissapointed that i had too pay a deposit as i was totally unaware that a deposit was neccessary. This meant that during my stay here i had too scrimp and scrape as we had too use all of our spending money on the deposit. other than that i couldnt fault it.

We checked in on 26.4.13. booked 2 x 2 bedroom apartments. Rooms were perfect, clean, had everything we needed from irons, ironing boards, small vacuums, cleaning stuff, rooms were spotless! ......Better still the staff could not have helped more if they wanted to. We arrived to both lifts not working and having no alternative than to walk up 22 flights of stairs. Noisy neighbours on Saturday night made it very difficult to sleep. Unfortunately the location was the best thing about this apartment. Booked an 'executive' 1 bedroom for 2 nights. I hate to see the size of the deluxe apartments as mine was incredibly narrow with the bedroom just big enough for 2 people to be in there at the same time. There are far better apartments for this price in Manchester.

The apartment I got was quite small, but I didn't stay long so that wasn't an issue. Nonethess it is quite expensive for that size. There is free croissant in the morning which is quite nice. It's very close to the shopping centre so quite convenient.

The location of the hotel was vey convenient for my business purpose. The immediate surrounding area is not salubrious . The room was practical although the wooden floorboards are noisy. The very low bed might be a problem for some. Not sure I would stay there again.

within 30 min of my arrival I was moved to another flat because internet was not working. my original booking was for 3 nights but I extended for another 3 nights for business reasons. when I moved it was 31st Dec so at night could not sleep because of new year celebration however the following nights was still very noisy - hearing almost everything […] going out my doors. the sofa not comfortable with lots of stains underneath & TV signal gets interrupted a lot. 2 days later I was moved to a quieter apartment but light bulb in corridor & bathroom went off, electrician came check did nothing until i complained again in evening & that was fixed the following morning.the rate was reduced by 14 GBP a night which was a nice gesture. cleanliness not as expected. many items missing from kitchen. internet sometimes interrupted. 3 movements over 6 days in the same hotel is A LOT I will definitely not rate it as 5 stars. 3.5 is okspecial thanks to staff Samantha 7 robert Read more

Lovely stay. Perfect location for shopping and the Northern Quarter. The only problem I had with this hotel is the £200 deposit you have to pay when checking in. If your stay is at the weekend it will take several working days for it to be made available in your account which is less than ideal.

I stayed in the one bed apartment for a week, as I was travelling on my own on business & wanted a bit more space than just a bed in a room. Advertised room stated it had a sofa & balcony, room I received had neither! Surrounding area very convenient for shopping/bars, but the room was very hot even with the radiators switched off, meaning I had to […] open the windows to cool down. Street noise was very loud, even at 4am! (Probably due to time of year I travelled with all the Xmas parties!). So a week of poor sleep was the net result. Room was OK, certainly not 5* & not particularly clean. Nice touch was free coffee & croissant's in reception each morning. There is a small car park located under the building. I parked here (Small but secure) but was not informed of the £15 per night charge until I was given a £60 bill on departure! In summary, if you are in Manchester for a night out, theses apartments are fine as the noise will not bother you for a night. If like I was you are here on business & need a good restful sleep - this isn't the place for you! Read more

The studio room that I stayed in was as expected: as large as a standard hotel room, a big enough double bed (although very low to the ground style so any older readers might want to avoid that) and with some handy appliances like the large fridge, microwave and cooker. Lots of pluses: + Clean (very important) + Great views + Fully stocked - washing machine, tissues, microwave, fridge freezer, toiletries etc. + 24 hour Gym + Helpful, friendly staff + Free wi-fi Some negatives: - We all need to get fitter. The staff should mention the stairs too when you check in, not just the lift. The stairs aren't even labelled […] - there should be a clear sign on the door. Also each floor on the stairs should have a number to help you work out which floor you're on. - The lift felt a bit cheap and unsafe - an alarm went off one time it was used. - None of the extractor fans came on in the bathrooms, do they not work? - It would be nice to know if the toiletries were animal-free and not tested. - No chair/surface in the bedrooms for putting clothes on (very minor). - On arriving I had to pay a £200 deposit - I hadn't been told this before turning up (I'd paid for the apartment in advance), which is a nasty surprise. - No recycling bins anywhere. Modern building on an excellent location. Supermarket is almost in the basement. Kitchen equipment is basic (no citruspress, no tea towel) There is no table and the "living room" is rather small. Bedroom and bathroom are perfect. We would certainly recommend the Light Hotel for visitors of the city.

Excellent hotel and the staff were fantastic. Only two troubles: near-by clubs made it very noisy until about 11pm (I was there saturday night), and there was a very intermittent wifi connection in my room (though apparently most other rooms could get it).

Thought the apartment was grubby and the seats were the most uncomfortable things ever. Bedrooms small and confined.Noise levels in hotel were high as the wooden floors had no soundproofing so constant noise from above. Kitchen poorly equipped .Great location, but wouldnt go back.

We booked a Studio Apartment which turned out to be smaller than an average budget hotel room and was filthy. When we complained we were upgraded, with an extra charge, to a one bedroom apartment. Apartment was much better. Studio apartments are very overpriced.

The first apartment that we were put in had great views, but was extremely hot. Woke up on the first morning and felt very uncomfortable. After speaking with the reception staff, they were able to move us to a cooler room with a balcony so we could have a through draft. For the price of a hotel room the Light gives you 2 bedrooms, kitchen, lounge, and great views...couldn't fault it for the price! Good central location, close to Piccadilly Station, and shopping. Perfect location, and the apartments are bigger than usual rooms. But the service and cleaning was very bad. We stayed for 6 days, the room was not very clean when we got it, and they didnt clean it before the 6th day.. Even though we talked to them about it. The hotel had a really great location with easy access to trams and shopping! THe service at the hotel was also very impressive, everyone took their time to help you out with directions, taxi, advice on where to go etc. Really enjoyed our stay, and the apartment was really nice :)
