We spent a wonderful week at the Dorfhotel in Dec 12/Jan 13 - great family accommodation, spacious with delightful views over the East of Sylt. Very... much enjoyed the swimming and spa facilities which were well maintained and to a hig standard. Our only disappointment came on the last evening when there was a mix up with our meal - would have wanted better communication over the very long waity. I stayed at the Dorfhotel with my wife and young son for a couple of nights as we wanted to see Sylt. The hotel is a large complex owned by TUI next to the main road between Rantum and Westerland, and opposite some sand dunes. Our apartment was split level - with a living area/kitchen and bedroom downstairs, and a second bedroom and main bathroom upstairs. […] There was a wood burning stove in the living area (which we didn't use#. The kitchen area was well stocked with utensils and a hob/microwave/dishwasher. I thought the atmosphere of the hotel was relaxing - as it was busy, yet we didn't feel swamped with other people. There is a childen's activity area that offers things for kids to do during the daytime and a little playground. You get deluged with bits of paper on arrival setting out what's on offer #all of it in German) - however the reception staff we dealt with spoke good English. I would definitely stay here again, although like a lot else on Sylt, it is quite expensive. Read more

Mit wenigen Schritten ist man an der Bushaltestelle von der man alle 20 Minuten in alle Richtungen abfahren kann und somit die ganze Insel erkundigen kann. Das Hallenbad und die Saunalandschaft sind sehr schön und vor allem sehr sauber, das Personal total freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Aufenthalt in der Hotelanlage war angenehm, besonders das Schwimmbad ist für Familien mit Kindern gut geeignet. Der Empfang war etwas holperig, nur ein Auszubildener ohne Unterstützung am Empfang, Kurkarten waren nicht vorbereitet, auch nach den zugsagten 2 Std. nicht. Das stößt dann bei dem leider sehr hohen Wochenendpreis dann doch unangenehm […] auf, auch das dann am Abreisetag bereits um Punkt 10.00 Uhr Housekeeping nach der Abreise fragt, oder für Wlan tatsächlich noch Aufpreis pro Tag erhoben wird. Die Lage ist Zentral und gut. Die Familienzimmer sind geräumig und sinnvoll eingerichtet. Auch der Maisonette Stil ist praktisch und schön für eine Familie mit zwei Kindern. Die Gebäude, das Gelände, der SPA und Poollbereich, die Restaurants und überhaupt alles ist völlig lieblos gebaut, behandelt und geführt. Hier wäre mit Geschmack und Verstand deutlich […] mehr zu machen und das ist sicherlich auch der Hauptgrund für das "schlechte Image" des Hotels auf der Insel. Das Essen ist gut, im Besonderen die Vorspeisen sind ausgezeichnet. Die Hauptspeisen sind eigentlich immer kalt (= nicht ausreichend erwärmt) und erneut völlig lieblos von planlosen Köchen zubereitet. Zum Frühstück sollte man auch "früh" da sein, sonst wird es unangenehm hektisch und man kann schon einmal 20 Minuten auf Semmeln (=Brötchen) warten. Unter neuer Führung hat das Hotel vielleicht eine Zukunft, ansonsten kommt sicher jeder nur einmal. Read more

Das Dorfhotel liegt strategisch sehr gut am nördlichen Ortsrand von Rantum. Die Bushaltestelle ist keine 5min entfernt und dank der sehr guten Busverbindungen und der morderaten Preise ist man sehr schnell an jedem gewünschten Ort. Wer mitten im Zentrum am Geschehen sein will oder absolute Ruhe im Hotel sucht, sollte genau hinsehen. Wie gesagt, in […] die jeweiligen Zentren muss man entweder länger laufen (wunderschön in den Dünen!) oder den Bus nehmen. Auch ist das Hotel sehr kinderfreundlich und es geht - erfreulicherweise - auch sehr lebhaft zu. Man muss es halt mögen. Das Hotel selber ist super sauber, sehr gepflegt und ein sehr großes Plus ist die separate Toilette und der großzügig gehaltene Wohnraum in den Appartements. Die Speisekarte und das Frühstücksbuffet lassen wirklich keine Wünsche offen. Das Personal ist sehr bemüht, stets freundlich und hilfsbereit. Einzig der Shuttle-Service vom und zum Flughafen hat beide Male gar nicht geklappt und erst auf Anruf kam der Pickup-Service. Entschuldigung negativ! Deshalb gibt es auch nur 4 von 5 Punkten. Alles in allem ist dieses Hotel absolut empfehlenswert und wir würden es sicher wieder auswählen. Read more

Das Hotel liegt am Ortseingang von Rantum. Nach Westerland sind es mit dem Auto gerade mal zehn Minuten, so dass man von hier aus alles sehr gut erreichen kann. Das Hotel bietet vor Ort Mietfahrräder an, so dass wir direkt starten konnten. Die Appartments sind hell, modern und geräumig und sehr sauber. Das Frühstück ließ keine Wünsche offen, sogar draußen […] im Strandkorb konnte gegessen werden. Es gibt allerdings viele Gäste mit Kindern, da das Hotel auch sehr kinderfreundlich ist, so dass es gerade beim Essen nicht unbedingt ruhig zugeht. Read more
