Hotel is nice and in a great location. Please note it costs 38 dollars a night to park which apparently is comparable to many other local hotels. My stay was so so. I was placed in a wheelchair accessible room, although I did not request this (I am over 6ft tall). When I got the the room I realized I had to physically bend down to wash my hands and […] actually sit down to do my make up and hair. I brought this inconvenience up to the front desk and they basically wished me luck. There were no other rooms available based on the type of room I reserved. I thought Marriott Residence Inn would have at least comp'd my parking or done something else for the inconvenience, but they more or less laughed it off. I expected more from them. Read more

They offer a complete breakfast buffet which is excellent and free! Studio is very comfortable with convenient kitchen appliances for a short stay, even down to a dishwasher which I didn't really need.

Breakfast was very good, great variety, served hot and servers were very friendly. We also missed having two sinks. Our only problem was the $38 parking fee each night! We parked a block away for $17 each night.

The only thing I would request is that there is a waste basket in the bathroom or in the vanity area outside. The only waste basket is under the sink in the kitchen area. Otherwise, the hotel was fantastic and the location is perfect.

Nice hotel in the heart of the gaslamp. If you have kids the full fridge and mini stovetop with pots pan and utensils are handy. Breakfast included wasn't just a continental breakfast so that was a real plus! I also liked the fact that you are in walking distance from everywhere and very central. The staff were very nice. The location is great. It is closed to the convention center and located in the heart of downtown. We can reach the public transportation very easily, just 2-3 blocks away from the hotel. I book the studio, they have all kinds of kitchen stuff including microwave, plates, dishes. Had a very good experience with a 1 night Saturday stay at the Residence Inn in the Gaslamp district. The hotel is conveniently located on 6th Ave, between K and J streets. Easy walking distance to plenty of shoppping, restaurant, and bars. We parked at the parking structure on the next block to avoid valet, cost was under 20 bucks for about 24 hours. […] The receptionist was friendly and got us checked in quickly. She even let us borrow a cell phone charger when we realized we didn't bring it and the phones were dying! The hotel room was clean and well decorated, the bed was large and comfortable, and the only downside to the room was the opaque glass door to the bathroom. This Residence Inn is ideally located for walking around the Gaslamp district, taking in a game at Petco Park, or visiting the Convention Center. The rooms are spacious, include high speed wifi and nicely appointed. Breakfast is included, but if you want proteim (sausage or bacon) you need to ask for it. The gym is very small and consists of 2 treadmills […] and 2 ellipticals and a very small dumbbell selection. The pool is the smallest I've seen for a hotel, but I wasn't here for the pool. The beaches are a short ride away. I did need an extension cord for a CPAP machine, but the hotel did not have any. I bought one at the local WalMart and gave it to my niece who who lives in the area before I left. Read more

Great location and happy that it was pet friendly (although the $100 pet fee is a bit steep). The valey only $38 parking is also high - even for the area, but this was a last minute trip so I didn't have many options to shop around. The pool is great for young children and the location is really convenient to the trolley and lots of shops and restaurants. Overall good hotel. Nice eating area and kitchen (though I didn't use the kitchen much). Pool and workout room were small but adequate. Good variety of food at breakfast and evening reception. Location was within walking distance to the convention center, great if you are traveling for business. There are lots of reasonable parking lots within walking distance of the hotel, so don't get freaked out about the valet parking. Staff were friendly and helpful. My only problems with the hotel are that the windows don't open, it got a little stuffy, and I left the hall door open to air out the room. No windows or fan in the bathroom. The studio is well designed and efficient, but not much bigger than a standard hotel room. The bathroom had a frosted sliding glass door, which did little to muffle sounds (LOL). As for the gas lamp district, it's mostly bars and restaurants. Not many clubs, galleries, etc. There is still an echo of a seedy past. Read more

I wish I had not rented a car. Parking is $35 p/night and being downtown I could have done without. You may want to inform future contacts. It is expensive all over the city, so the hotel is not necessarily out of line.
