On arrival I opened the freezer to place my chiller packs into freeze as I needed them frozen to place on my elbow due to a recent surgery.The freezer needed defrosting and worst of all was the strong fish smell and something dark spilt on the built up ice.We reported this to the front desk on our way out to dinner, on our return they had placed a chux […] super wipe under my chiller packs.The packs did not freeze overnight thus I was unable to ease the pain to my elbow overnight or during our trip home,this was explained to the staff.Still unsure why the mini fridge was not cleaned out or replaced while we were out for the evening,its safe to say we would never return to El Lago. This is the most basic hotel one could visit. It is old; with mattresses that need to be changed as are past their use by date and old style televisions. However, it is clean and tidy and had a nice feel in the corridors with many hanging prints. The tennis court has structural damage with cracks and rather than having it properly resurfaced, a plastic […] tile carpet has been placed on top which looks ok from a distance but is difficult to play on. Considering I/we were there to sleep & shower it was more than we needed. Overall I was satisfied with Quality, service & cleanliness, however there was an unpleasant odor in the room (musty) as well as a leaking toilet, which caused the area to smell quite unpleasant.

staff were not helpful and disinterested.The spa was non existant. The room was pleasing and clean. Smoking should not be allowed around pool as it travels up into rooms.

I was in Motel which was 100 times better than this place, is the worst place we have ever checking into and unfurtunatly couldn't find any other place to check in, it was last minutes booking without knowing what I'm up for. Place was dirty, old equipments, bed was so unconfortable and very old mattres that shouldn't be in use. Pool was very dirty […] you can see the black oil all around the pool agains the wall, and lots of rubish in the pool. No sound proofing between the rooms and we could hear our next door and all thier activities, specially at night we had to turn the tv on and put the volume up so my little girl wouldn't ask question about them. we stayed in one room with a view of the car park and tennis courts, even when I told staff that I asked for ocean view, they didn't care and couldn't help so we had no choice but to stay in that room, not very friendly and helpful staff. Just a one night stay and only used it for sleeping as we were at a family function 'til late. Room and bathroom had been refurbished. It was clean and the bed comfortable. The only noise was the hum of the air conditioning duct outside our the window but it wasn't annoying. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. Our stay was primarily for leisure. A pool was available at the hotel which we did not use. The weather was magnificent. We acessed the town facilities and moved on to enjoy a lunch at Shelly beach.Markets were trading on the Saturday on the waterfront as were other local buisness's. A visit to the local picture theatre made for a fun night out.

We arrived to the 'hotel' and I thought oh no what have we booked! The outside was very run down and could seriously do with being painted. We parked the car and entered to the lobby area to check in, my boyfriend noticed a sign on the gate to the pool area saying 'pool for executive guests only' so we asked the girls about it at the reception desk. […] One girl,whom I thought would have more sense being in her 40's just laughed. The other girl told her to stop and she explained yes the pool is just for guests of the hotel. We were given keys to our 'executive suite' far from executive, it was very basic. All we could see from our balcony were trees, far from the lakeside views advertised! The room was clean and comfy. Pool area was nice. Overall stay was ok. Staff could have been more friendlier. Booked for a family of 4. Arrived at the motel at 10pm to find a double bed and a pull out sofa bed which wasnt large enough to accomodate a 16 yo and a 12 yo. The room was so small we were unable to fit a fold up bed in the room. Luckily they were able to find another room for the kids to sleep in two floors higher. I did appreciate the non charge […] of the second room. The bathroom tiles had been painted and had started to peel off, mouldy smelling. Very disappointed. Read more

The drawers were broken. Pillows and mattress were hard and uncomfortable. There was a cake of used soap in the shower from previous guests. The extra blanket had a cut in the middle of it.

we booked a weekend in a family room it was clean well maintained & roomy, when in the shower if some one else in another room was showering we were fighting over water that was very annoying as it was hot cold hot cold, the pool area had a spa & (not working) sauna with a cute possum living in the roof of it, the staff were very very nice can't fault […] them at all, very helfpul & check in was a breeze, there is no lift but luckily we didn't have much to carry up & down, we never used the car once we walked everywhere, plenty of food places, shopping center a few blocks away & the water park for my son to play in, walked across the bridge to fish, I would recommend this place & stay there again, apart from the shower it was all good... Upon arrive, we were checked in almost instantly, front desk was excellent and quick... though we were informed previously in our confirmation email from the website we booked (hotels) that we would have a balcony with a pool/beach or garden view, a sofa and in the photos on the website there was a small kitchen with a stove, this was the family room […] we booked. When opening our room we had one king bed and 2 single beds, no kitchen, no balcony and no sofa with a car park view... when I asked why we were instantly moved into a nicer room with a shared courtyard with a pool view with no hasstle... overall staff very very friendly and happy to help and a nice clean, safe and perfect location for the hotel Read more

Felt a bit like a criminal bond up front threatening signs all over the place. They said no noise after 10:00 or you will be fined yet there was a whining pump possibbly poolpump whining all night which made it hard to sleep. Room was comfy and clean but only 2 tissues left in the box and no spares. When you have a cold this is important in winter. […] No instuctions on how the TV or cable worked or guide to say what was on.
