Good location, right in city center. Great rooftop bar. Food was fine for dinner at the bar, not great (although the vegetables are really great). Decent breakfast though. Bathroom smelt a bit like mildew, but room was nice enough.

I was visiting Africa to climb Kilimanjaro and visit Zanzibar. it's not a bad hotel as the rooms are well appointed and clean. However, the little things make you never want to return. Wifi access is ridiculously expensive %~$14 p/day and so is laundry service $18 for a few pairs of socks, two t-shirts, underwear and a pair for shorts... seriously. The rooms were very dirty, mold in the shower and floors had hair on them. The chain on the door was removed or broken off at some point before we stayed in the room. It felt unsafe. The hotel bar was nice and taxi to the airport was convenient.

Decided to book in spite of some poor reviews. However, I found to my surprise that the hotel was in fact excellent in all aspects - we even booked back in for new year. The area is not so bad as some said in fact it is very well located for most things. The quality of cooking was excellent and well above most hotels of this level.

Really poor hotel, staff unhelpful, worst breakfast ever (for $10), service charge added to bill at checkout without prior notice (the irony was that we received no service), the corridors and the room smelt, the bed was very hard and the swimming pool is barely bigger than a bath!

I would not stay at this hotel again at the price charged. The hotel's attempt to add a previously unadvised "service charge" to cover "...the cost of cleaning the room and general maintenance..." was irritating and unwelcome. The food took a very long time to be served, and on two of three occasions, was not properly cooked. And at the breakfast buffet, there were frequently serving trays which were empty for prolonged periods. The hotel is not especially well located, though this is not a major issue. Avoid this Hotel. This hotel management tries to get extra payments by claiming extra service charges as for local taxes despite the room have been paid in full thru Hotels.com Europe. On top they at departure also may claim a non agreed 50 percent extra payment for the service having allowed an early Check-in! In conclusion - avoid this hotel.

Really helpful staff from the moment I set foot in the hotel until I left. Room was great; really roomy, great big comfy bed, nice hot shower. wwe stayed at the Holiday Inn June 2011. Booked through Expedia and our booking clearly stated that all fees and services were paid for. When we got to the hotel we discovered that breakfast was not included which is unusual in Africa. Our first day we charged breakfast and internet to the room. Later that day I noticed a sign posted by the cashier […] when your pay to leave that stated that any charges to the room would be converted to US$ at a VERY unfavourable rate. From then on we paid in cash. When we went to leave our bill was for $46 US$. We said that we would pay the bill in Tanzanian Shillings (Tsh) and that we owed 43000 Tsh. The manager then took our US$ bill and converted it to Tsh, again at a very unfavourable rate and told us we now owed 71000Tsh. Remember at this point it was all being done on paper. We paid 43000Tsh and told them they would not get a cent more. Oh, and on our bill we were charged $5>50 US$ a day for room charges. Whgen I said we had already paid Expedia $35 a day they said they were not paid by Expedia. Again, we refused to pay this. Hotel was clean and nice, other than the odd cockroach, but this rip off with the bill has left a very bad tasted in our mouth. This hotel is in the centre of Dar, very convinient for the port if you're heading to Zanzibar and to other areas like Oysterbay if you want to visit the bars for a drink. Staff were super friendly and nice, could not fault them, there is a 5% service charge at the end I was not expecting though... Overall very good hotel, I would recomend.

Amazing hotel. Its very well appointed and well worth the money. It has a great roof top bar/restaurant which is for a hotel reasonably priced. The staff are very nice. There s (fast -for tanzanian standards!) internet access. The airport is only 20-30min away which is very convienent! It is very conveniently located, right the center of the city. However, that was the only good thing about this hotel. The hotel staff at the reception were all not friendly at all and somehow even rude! There is a swimming pool and nice restaurant and bar. We stayed two nights at the swimming pool side room and one night at the entrance side room on […] the way back. The swimming pool side of the rooms were nice and quiet but the entrance side of the room was very noisy. he room we satyed on the way back weren't even furnished properly and we have to ask to get a chair. If not we had to sit on the bed all the time. Airport transfers were supposed to be provided for free of charge but we didn't get any. We were not met met by anyone on arrival. On the departure, we were told that our departure is too ealry in the morning for their driver! It is the only for their famous name but the bad reputation.
