The location of the hotel is unbeatable. We could hear the bells of the abbey and look out to see the parade grounds. I was initially concerned that a BW may be a big box, but they have sensitively maintained much of the character of the wonderful old hotel while incorporating modern amenities like a full, modern, spacious bathroom. We opted for the breakfast inclusive package and found it to be robust and offering many options. We set out on foot and did the whole city from this great central location.

We found this online and booked early. It was the weekend and there were no businessmen, but this property was just 4 miles from Stonehenge which we saw after a busy day of sightseeing. Free Parking, A nice clean, large, executive room with King bed. We were just above the bar/lobby where there is free interent, and we enjoyed it in our room instead of going downstairs.This site is next to the highway with a gas station/mini-market, KFC, and restaurant. This makes for lots of dinner and breakfast choices. We would easily return.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which was in an idylic country town which afforded great access to local sites such as Bath. Family was an absolute charm with homey rooms with comfortable beds and a delicious breakfast.... Would definitely stay there again....

I booked the Alexandra for a business trip - my primary objective was to find a spacious, modern room in a country setting...not something easily achieved in the UK. I was really pleased - the room was perfect, the people were friendly, the restaurant and bar were really good - and we were minutes away from English countryside and beautiful sights.

"delightful gem"
This is a gem of a place. You are not just paying for a room but for a unique and special experience. We have travelled widely and would put this place as our number one choice. Amazing staff and amazing attention to all details from decor to individual needs. Take out time to visit the home and grounds on the property. Also a delight. "Phenomenal Bowood"
Absolutely beautiful, and by far the nicest hotel I've been to. The grounds were breathtaking as you drive through a small forest alongside the golf course to the hotel, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the rooms were absolutely spotless, and when I say spotless, I mean not a spec of dust or mould or grime or streaks on a window/mirror […] to be seen. I surprised my girlfriend with breakfast in bed (anniversary) and after ordering pretty much everything on the menu ended up paying less than I would have by including breakfast on the room, so definitely something to bare in mind. Unfortunately we didn't get to use the Spa facilities as it turned out the weekend we were there was the one week of the year they were closed for refurbishments, but if the quality of the rest of the hotel is anything to go by, I'm sure we'll enjoy everything they have to offer next time we return - which we definitely will! "Top Notch!!"
Outstanding quality in every way. Stunning setting, hotel new and in beautiful condition, great spa/gym, exceptionally knowlegeable and helpful staff, food and wine in restuarant excellent and breakfast wonderful. Cannot fault in any way...and I am au fait with these types of hotels. Well worth it.
