The room was small, but it was clean and well-organized. The location was near a metro (plus), but it wasn't close to any major sights. The owner was pleasant enough, the breakfast was decent, and we had a problem-free stay. Overall, a good value for the money.

The breakfast was wonderful and the staff was very friendly. The hotel was located close to the tube, but was quit a distance to travel to see the sights of London. The toilet in our room didn't flush most of the time.

Nice neighborhood, friendly staff and very close the tube line.. However, room furniture doesn't suit such small rooms and the bathroom is awfully small, you really need to be quite fit to use it!

If you plan to live there it is ok . The breakfast is good enough to get you going in the morning , and remember to ask them to turn the heat on in your room every night . The room is not up to date but they seem to be repairing some rooms so it might be better soon . You might also want to invest in a prepaid cell phone but you could used the pay phone […] on the first floor . Also make sure u have an oyster card for transportation because its a little far from central london . We picked this hotel looking for an adventure and we definitely got one. Breakfast was great and the location was nice. The rooms, on the other hand, left something to be wanted. I thought this hotel was very charming. The location was great because the neighborhood was a residential area and was very quiet. It's only a 5min walk to the Tufnell Park tube station. The full English breakfast was very good, and the staff was very nice and accommodating. My only complaints were that it got very cold at night sometimes, but it would […] eventually always warm up, and the front door slammed really loud and woke me from a deep sleep a couple of times. The small plasma tv's were a nice addition, along with the free wi-fi. The staff let me check in a couple hours early and met any request I made of them. Charlies is a unique, family owned, 2 star B & B in a lovely neighborhood of old homes just north of London - 10 minutes on the underground, and a 10 minute walk through the quiet neighborhood. This place was horrid. The only thing that saved it at all was the daily free hot breakfast. This dump is a 15-minute walk to the nearest Underground. The room had no telephone and a television that did not work. When I requested assistance for the television, I received attitude instead. The shower was a daunting challenge to find the balance between water that was scalding hot or so cold that breathing became almost impossible. I found the formula elusive. I had to ask for shampoo on my first day. They threw a partial bottle in the shower. Fortunately, it lasted my four unpleasant days here. I don't place much importance on a hotel. This is the worst B&B ever!! The information listed is very misleading. This location is far away from Central London and from the Underground. The rooms and bathrooms are very small. The shower had masking tape on it to hold the tile together. The breakfast was unbearable. The staff if very rude. There is no phone or clock in the room. The payphone […] was broken, which made it hard to communicate with family at home since I couldn't use my cell phone. I was glad when it was time to leave and even left a day early just to escape my "cell" of a room. Sadly, this was a very poor experience. The hotel staff were helpful and polite, but the room was still somewhere in the 1960's for both decor and facilities.The bed was extremely uncomfortable and the bathroom, dark, tiny, and I would not want to use.Thin walls & noisy. I chose the Hotel/ B&B due to it's place on the map, and because of the way it looked online. However, upon arrival,right from the entrance it became apparent that there were problems. It stated from the broken steps leading to the main entrance. The entire space that we saw was dirty. Very dirty. In the bedroom the furniture was broken (a draw was […] missing entirely); where there used to be a wall lamp, now there was a switch - one could still see the mark of dirt left on the wall matching the other two lamps. The shower door was broken. In it's place now there was a cheap plastic curtain that did not even reach the floor. I could carry on, but no need I feel. One other aspect I should mention is that during breakfast, when my friend lifted her cup to serve her tea, there were two small creatures on her plate... We came early in the afternoon and were greeted by a very old Greek man, which wasn't bad at all, if only he could answer our inquiries. He advised us to come later and speak to the lady in charge. By the time we came back, she would have arrived and left again. And inquiries there were! The double bed is only a slightly larger single bed - two people […] really do not have a pleasant sleep here. The bathroom door would not close. The shower was only sticking out of the wall, so bathing was really difficult. The TV and the bed lamp were not working. And when anyone opened the hotel front door, bang!, our door moved and made noise. We had to put a sock underneath to stop it from moving. A positive point is breakfast, which was good and the staff really tried. Location is a residential area and it's very calm and pleasantly dark during the night, so sleep is comfortable (with a sock under our door!). Approx. 5 min walk to the nearest bus stop (bus 4 going to Waterloo station) and 10 min walk to the nearest Tube (Tufnell Park - Northern line). Overall, go to this hotel only if you have no other option. We expected much more for our money. Read more

The Parking, Staff, Positioning for the HMV forum, and Drinks vending machine were excellent...............The room was the worst i have ever stayed in. The door rattled and moved everytime someone walked past it outside, the room was damp, the ceiling was damp in the right hand corner as you look at the door, there was awful condensation on the windows. […] The shower head and top of the unit was uncontrollable and sprayed water everywhere like a garden sprinkler, the ceiling was soaking as was the bathroom. None of the bathroom pieces matched and the sink was of the size you would find in a small caravan,,,awful. Have had a few 'budget' hotel bookings around London over the last few months, and so far have been satisfied - you get what you pay for but everywhere has been ok. This was the worst of those. We were in a cellar / below street level room - on check in the windows were open, didn't think much of it and closed them. When we got back much later it was […] obvious that the open window was to hide the smell of damp / mildew. There was a wardrobe postioned in such a way that you had to squeeze past sideways to even get into the room. A table and chairs - unnecessary as there wasn't a kettle. Lose this and the wardrobe and the bed could then be moved to a position where it didnt block the door to the bathroom (you could only open it halfway as it hit the bed). Bathroom itself a bit grim, and tiny. Disappointed, really. A re-org and a lick of paint (and a dehumidifier?) would mean this would be about right for the money paid, at the moment although it is cheap, its not value for money, especially when compared to some of the other 'cheapies' around. Charlie's hotel is in a charming part of London, but someone who is not familiar with the location could be led to believe that central London is much closer than it actually is. The underground station is about a 10 minute walk away, and it takes about about 10 mins to get into central London, there are also buses. Don't expect a lot of space as some of the rooms are small. Nevertheless, the friendliness, helpfulness and service provided by the owner and staff more than make-up for any inconvienence that the room size may cause. Look elsewhere if you are expecting 5-star amenities. However, the breakfasts were always freshly made, filling and seconds available […] if desired. For those on a budget, Andy, the crew at Charlie's B&B and it's location make this hotel an ideal place from which to explore London (an Oyster Card is very handy). It's a short (8-9 minute) walk to the tube station and even less to the nearest bus stop (which is just across the road from the local pub). Nearby attractions include Camden Lock Market and Hampsted Heath. Suggest contacting Charlie's directly for additional details about the property and the services. Travellers will be hard pressed to find better accomodation value in London for the price charged here. Read more

The owners were friendly however, the room was booked as a double yet it was barely large enough for the bed and the bathroom was so small that you could not turn around in it and when you sat on the toilet, your knees were against the sink! It is a hotel that is practical for a 1 night stay - any longer and I think you would go nuts!

Frukostbuffén som ingick var absolut helt okej och lagades direkt på plats av de som drev hotellet. Att Englands standard ligger under Sveriges visste vi och därför blev vi inte överraskade över den lilla storleken på rummet men att en säng var lagad med en planka var inte helt brilliant och att duschens vattenstrålar mycket få och toalettens spolning trasslande lyfte […] inte hotellet. Die Zimmer waren zweckmäßig eingerichtet, auch W-Lan hat immer funktioniert. Eines der Zimmer war bitterkalt (nur ein kleiner Heizkörper). Die Duschbäder waren beide ohne Heizung und kalt. Nur ein Duschbad konnten wir wirklich benutzen. Nach neuen Handtüchern und WC-Papier mussten wir erst fragen. Der Frühstücksservice war sehr gut!
