"A lot of problems"
I felt that Palazzo Marzoli was overpriced and untrustworthy. First of all, even though Hotels.com guaranteed I would not be charged until my stay, I received a charge on my credit card more than a week before my stay and for one more night than I was actually staying. I tried to resolve this with the woman at the hotel, but she said it was Expedia, […] not the hotel that charged us, which was just confusing. My credit card company says the charge came from the hotel. In addition, she originally told us the parking charge was 30 euros per day and then raised it to 45 euros when we checked out. The hotel is attractive but overlooks a busy street and work was being performed. The only real plus goes to Aldo, who works there. He was very helpful and lovely and refused our money when he helped change our tire. I cannot, however, recommend Palazzo Marzoli (or reserving through hotels.com) to anyone. "The Best In Italy!"
We stayed in a lot of places in Italy, but Positano was our favorite. We would love to go Back. The people at Palazzo Marzoli were warm, provided great customer service and were very attentive. We lived it there. Highly recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice hotel but not the most convenient"
I loved this hotel but I just wish it was more convenient to the beach. If you're willing to do a lot of walking or pay the high price of taxi, it's not bad. The rooms and the view were gorgeous and the staff was very friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great property and very friendly staff. Location is a bit far from the main beach, but the walk is nice, or there are bus and free shuttle options from the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Great stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Beautiful Sea View, excellent spacious rooms, friendly family feel. Breakfast is OK but they deliver to your room. Shuttle service to beach is nice but traffic was unpredictable as there is only one main road that runs through Positano. "Beginning of town hotel, Positano (far from beach)"
Most other hotels offer free wifi, this hotel did not. A bit too far from the beach, beginning of town, yet close to bus stop. The room was ok for up to 3 people, definitely too small for 4. ( two adults and 2 children)Genuine Expedia guest review
"Amazing location and views - Bad service."
We found a brochure/pamphlet in the lobby of the hotel which stated some things I would like to laugh at. Palazzo Marzoli calls themselves "One of Positano's most exclusive hotels/resorts" and mentioned something about their sound-proof walls. The part about sound-proof walls is ridiculous, as we could hear normal-volumed phone conversations seeping […] through the walls from the neighboring rooms and definitely heard their children screaming occasionally throughout the day. I don't know about you, but I would expect one of Positano's most exclusive resorts to be able to provide certain services that for whatever puzzling reason, Palazzo Marzoli was unable to provide. The staff spoke some English, but not enough to actually be able to be very helpful in most ways other than trying to weirdly push a scooter rental on my girlfriend and I as we arrived, exhausted. They have no iron/ironing board on-site, apparently. And charge 7.50 euro per article of clothing. I was very rudely laughed at when I questioned this. We were told we would receive a discount on the internet charge of 10 euro per day if we paid for all five nights of our stay. That was simply false. The worst/weirdest/grossest part of our stay was that the cleaning staff would replenish our room with partially used toilet paper rolls. I couldn't pinpoint why but I was pretty creeped out by the staff, and the hotel. The view was phenomenal and we loved our balcony the location. Definitely don't come for the service. Being from US I have stayed in many luxuary hotels.... this by far was one of the finer European hotels I have stayed. The room was absolutely spotless. Owner, an Italian lady, was so gracious. She did not speak much English and we don't speak Italian, but we communicated beautifully. She is a young grandmother type, always a friendly smile. Get an ocean view room, well worth it!! Amazing view, extremely helpful and nice staff. Highly recommended if staying in Positano.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Whether it was because I was a single traveller or just bad luck, I got the worst room of the hotel. #103. I'm sure the room beside me was no better but anything on the lower floor had to endure the hammering and poundig from the business below. The lower rooms had a broken view of the city because of the street and the building to the left, and the […] lower rooms were joined to the outside dining and hottub area separated by sparse shrubs which didn't help for vision or sound. I imagine the top suites are very nice but I can only review the one I was in, unfortunately not good. If you want to walk from this hotel be prepared to climb up and down more than 1000 steps, great workout... lol Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Elegant hotel with a wonderful attention to detail"
This is the perfect place to stay for a short break and the sort of hotel where nothing is too much trouble. The rooms were decorated with a sense of style and finishing that is rare to find and we were most impressed. It was a challenge to walk down to the village as the steps are steep and the road is rather long and windy, but because of this the […] views from the balcony were divine. Breakfast is served in the room which is very relaxing and informal but the choice is rather limited. It was ample for us and considering what was on offer in the village for lunch and dinner it was probably just as well to eat with restraint in the morning. We had hired a car and the hotel staff were able to park it for us on request in secure parking yet it was always returned for us when we needed it. The staff on reception could not have been more helpful and pleasant and definitely contributed to a delightful holiday. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Check that shuttle service is actually running!"
Our room was very clean and spacious with a large terrace. The staff were friendly. However, you do need to think about location and find out whether the shuttle service, which is meant to run for 2 hours each morning and late afternoon is running. The hotel is on a road high above the town. There are steps leading down to the town or beach - but you […] have to go down (and then up!) literally 600 - 700 of them. This was not too much of a problem for us as we like walking, although pretty exhausting when it was really hot. However, it may be problematic for others, especially as the advertised shuttle service from the hotel was not running (I think because we went early in the season and there were very few other guests). The hotel charged us 15 euros when we needed to get into town with our bags on leaving. They also charged an astounding 10 euros a day for internet access and there was a charge for using the hot tub too. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

This is a beautiful Boutique Hotel with balconies that overlook Positano and large spacious rooms with a good sized bathroom. It's very clean, open and fresh. Daniella,Christian and Rosa are all very helpful and will do anything they can to assist you. This hotel is located at the top of Positano so it's a good 20 minute walk down to the main town which […] was good for us but may be a little challenging for others, they do offer transport to and from town at certain times so it's not a problem. It's next to the stairs that lead up to the walking tracks that begin the walk of the Gods and many other trails. Breakfast is served in the room, juice/ tea, coffee with croissant. Anything else you pay for. We just bought cereal and fruit at the supermarket 20m down the road. No tea/coffee facilities are provided ( only with breakfast). This hotel was much more than expected. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful at all times. All rooms have an amazing view over Positano and gorgeous rooms that are clean and spacious. Having been to Positano before, I knew what to expect in terms of the landscape and how many stairs etc there are to the beach. Yes, there are a few but the view […] is worth it. I stayed in this amazing hotel for a few nights in July and I was completely satisfied from check in to check out. The staff was very helpful and their English was almost perfect ( I don't speak Italian so well). The room I stayed in had amazing views and the bed was so comfortable !!! The location was perfect for a scenic walk to the beach, something out of a movie. I would recommend this hotel to any and all who are looking for somewhere to stay in Positano. Thank you Palazzo Marzoli Resort for your professionalism and excellent hospitality !

We stayed here for two nights. Entertaining view hence the tight street below and the view of the ocean and village. Our room was more than comfortable and staff were friendly and helpful. The walk from the hotel to the beach wasn't an issue as there plenty to view on the way down. I would stay there again.

Hotel advertised that they were 400 meters to the beach--I think they meant 4 miles--it is NOT in the village of Positano--but rather up the mountain on a busy road--the location was so awful that we we did not even ask to see our room--and asked for a refund for our 2 night stay because the location was not what was advertised. They refused to refund our money--we didn't even care that we were going to lose two nights $---that's how much we disliked the location. The owner finally said we could "Rent" one of her apartments that was right on the beach instead--we agreed--the "apartment" was a fabulous location on the beach right in the heart of Positano-however the furnishings looked like it was furnished as cheaply as it could be with furniture that looked like it was from 1960's-however it was clean and in a great location so we stayed in this "no frills" apartment instead--but it was a heck of a lot better that taking a cab/bus up to top of mountain to Palazzo Marzoli. The owner does not speak English so the wonderful bell man interpreted for us.
"RIP OFF, IMMORAL, LIARS AND HORRIBLE SERVICE"
07/09/14 Michael K Lyndhurst, New Jersey
My travel agent booked this hotel for us for our honeymoon. When we arrived, it seemed like a pretty nice hotel, clean with seemingly nice people. That quickly changed when every thing we requested was either ignored or just misunderstood, since they spoke horrible English. There was no free breakfast, just free coffee. Room service was a 20 euro charge just to bring it to your room, on top of the food cost. Parking in the garage was a monstrosity, 50 euro a night!!! No one ever mentioned this at check in of course. The air conditioning would be manually turned off every night at the front desk because they wanted to save on electricity. Though, they said there was something wrong with their electrical system. Most of the channels did not work on the tv, The most egregious instance was when we asked to get a cab to go to a restaurant, instead, I got a nice call from front desk saying that the owner was going to give us a ride. A nice old man, he dropped us off with no problems. At checkout, we saw a sum of 20 euro for the ride! DO NOT BOOK HERE, YOU WILL REGRET IT. There are so many better hotels in Positano that may be a bit more expensive, but after you add up all the extras you will end up way ahead somewhere else!

We stayed at the palazzo marzoli hotel for two nights on our honeymoon. The staf was really friendly and helpfull. The room was nice, especially the balcony with seaview, we're we got served breakfast at no extra cost. The hotel is some steep steps away from the marina in Positano, but they offer transer by minibuss four times a day. If you dont mind to burn a few callories, the walk (especially downstairs) is nice.
"Rip you off!!Rude,no morals and no customer service, avoid this hotel"
06/10/14 186349Karen Northampton, United Kingdom
Hotel from hell! When we arrived, a row erupted behind reception in their own language, very rude, and not a welcome in sight. They had overbooked our room, a regular occurrence I think, and said we had to move the next day, no apology at all. The room was very clean, but smaller than a triple room, which was expensive, more like a double with a small couch to one side. Breakfast is one croissant, a drink and a yoghurt. Most hotels offer a full buffet breakfast for the cost of £2000 per week! My husband has a bad neck, so asked for an extra pillow. A maid wagged her finger at him and said no,no,no! Not a big ask for the price we paid. Most hotels would bend over backwards to help, but not this one. They try to make things as hard as possible and to charge extras for anything. On arrival they ask you to sign a document in Italian and thrust it in your hand. Wifi is rubbish for 10 euros a day, only one device and very slow. In the town, you can get free wifi and good signal. Hotel is the second furthest away up hill away from town. The so called shuttle is a joke. The driver has to ask permission from owners and only goes a couple of times a day and not at night, unless you pay 20 euros after 8pm. The hill is impossible to walk up, so be prepared to get a taxi. We spent our days at the beach as patio very small, no pool just a jacuzzi. On checking out , they said we had used a taxi on our first day, which was a lie. We got home to find they had charged our credit card. We emailed and rang them, but they insisted we had used a taxi. They have been charging people wrongly since 2009, according to other reviews. Do not waste your money staying here, much better hotels for same money near the beach area. These awful, rude people should not be in the hotel business, they do not know the meaning of customer service, just rip people off. They call people liars when they get a bad review, that says it all.

I picked this hotel on my arrival in Positano and suprisingly it turn out to be very nice hotel. I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel. The staff were helpful, especially the conciege Aldo and the new English speaking lady. I thought the wifi was over priced so i did not attempt to use it. Eating breakfast on the balcony overlooking the sea and the town was really enjoyable. The location of this hotel is also really convenient for the inter-city bus services that run around this portion of Italy. There are also several grocery stores very close by. I will definitely stay at this hotel again if i happens to be back in Positano.
"Hidden Charges - travellers beware!!!!"
04/19/14 Dally2014 Brisbane, Australia
I have just spent 2 nights at this hotel and feel I need to warn future guests of all the disappointments I experienced. All websites failed to mention that this hotel has a huge ugly crane in front of the hotel. Upon check in I discovered that the room I had booked with 4 single beds or a double in the master bedroom and 2 single beds for my children in the attached room had been set up all wrong. I was assured this would be sorted out for the second night. It was not for my whole stay. I reserved this hotel with a confirmation confirming full breakfast was included. Having woken up to find a crane blocking my view I was very disappointed with the fact that I had to pay for a lot of the items on the breakfast menu. I was asked to sign a document upon arrival which was a document in Italian which I could not understand. I was asked to sign small vouchers for the free wifi but found on checkout that there was a charge of 10 Euros per day and that for my 3 day stay the hotel was trying to charge me 40 Euros When I questioned this the owner who speaks no English offered to waive the additional $10 euros. I tried to explain that I signed vouchers showing free wifi and now I am being charged. She offered no explanation or apology!!!! Do not order any room service as this hotel charges 20 euros for room service as an additional charge. This charge is not mentioned on the room service menu. I can safely say that I will never be visiting this hotel again. On a positive note Positano is absolutely beautiful.
"Great place for a reasonable price"

We really enjoyed this hotel. It was a surprise that it was so good since we picked it last minute while we were in Naples. First off, if you are not an active person and the thought of climbing many stairs turns you off then you may want to stay somewhere else. On the other hand the vast majority of Positano seems to be stairs, so you may want to stay away from this town entirely. There is a shuttle and the bus service is really nice in my opinion, but there is no escaping the fact that this is a town of many many stairs. I had no issue with this and since the food in this town is ridiculously good and I kept eating too much of it, I kept reminding myself that the stairs were actually a good thing. The staff were helpful, but we really didn't require too much from them. I thought the wifi was over priced so we did not attempt to use it. Breakfast delivered to your room in the morning is really nice, but it means you have to plan the night before what time you want breakfast delivered. Eating breakfast on our balcony overlooking the sea and the town was really really enjoyable and is one of our lasting memories from the trip. The breakfast was good, but not overly elaborate. The location of this hotel is also really convenient for the inter-city bus services that run around this portion of Italy. There are also several grocery stores very close by that will sell you water/drinks and fresh fruit. We found this especially convenient on the day we hiked the Sentiero degli Dei (just a portion of it really). We did not bring a vehicle so we cannot comment on the garage or its price. There is no restaurant attached to the hotel, but there are plenty of places to eat in the area. I get the feeling this place caters to couples and not to families with children, but this is only a feeling.
