Location is ideal, a block or so from Convention Center and City Hall. It's about as central to everything as you can get. Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was midling. Our room was small by any standard, about 2 feet between the end of the bed and desk/TV. No room for a reading chair or anything of the sort. The staff was excellent. Location perfect for downtown. Parking fee a tad high. Room was cold and gray in decor (colorless and aesthetically depressing), bed was nice but no tub only a shower and not even hooks to hang towels outside door. Nice place. One of the two computers in bus center wasn't working, and there seemed to be a problem with the lights on the key system on doors. Locks worked, lights didn't. Not our style. My husband and I live and work near center city so every once in a while we will stay in town for a night. This hotel was a change for us as we wanted to try something new. "European Hostel Feel"
My girlfriend and I stayed in a standard room with a king-size bed. As a positive, it was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in—clean, supportive, complete with real down pillows! The negative was that the room was very small and poorly laid out. There was some kind of all-purpose desk/table with one high barstool that unfortunately also […] held the TV on it, so it couldn't really be used for anything other than knickknacks. My girlfriend said the room made her feel claustrophobic. When the room was made up, the staff did something I've never seen before: They just kind of roughly styled the bedsheets and pillows, without really making the bed. I guess as the price of luxury drops every year, so do the standards to which "luxury" is held. Another negative: Valet overnight parking cost $48 for 24 hours. Every DYI parking lot in the area cost $30+tax for 24 hours, but it was winter and there was snow on the ground so we decided to go valet. "Better than expected"
I stayed at this hotel 1 night for a weekend vacation to Philly. I got the room as a deal on Hotels.com/ The service here was greater than expected. The doormen were always welcoming and polite, the valets were quick, and the concierge was helpful. The lobby's interior was very modern, but a bit confusing with an odd layout with a bar centrally located […] and the check-in desk hidden around a corner. The rooms were neat and clean. The bathroom door is actually a sliding wood piece that is more form than function, don't expect any privacy in there. The bed was extremeley comfortable but ,again with the odd layout ,the TV was lateral to the bed instead of faceing the foot of the bed. It was just an obvious flaw in the design that it kind of bothered me. The minifridge is stocked with overpriced alcohol and snacks which was a disappointment. Don't expect to store anything in there. Overall, Le Meridien was a great modern looking hotel in the heart of Center CIty, in good proximity to many of Philly's best attractions. The area around the hotel seemed a litle grimey, but I didn't feel unsafe. The service was excellent, but the room left a little to be desired. If you're looking for a nice cushy place to lay your head after a night bar hopping around Center city then this place is for you. "Expensive hotel in city center"
There was only one person at the front desk at 9pm. Several of us had to wait in line to check in (I waited 23min). Despite having booked everything online, I had to go through all the details again. Then the key would not work in the elevators to go up to the room. Several attempts at reprogramming finally got it working. Once in, the TV wouldnt work! […] By now, it was 11.45pm. Having an early start the next day, I couldnt be bothered to change the room, so I just gave up on being able to watch the olympics that night. To that end, we recently added complimentary lobby coffee in the mornings in addition the complimentary coffee that has always been in the guest room. Our beds are made "European" style, using a duvet and cover instead of the traditional top sheet. The bed does have a bottom sheet. Nice hotel, but the staff seemed somewhat "indifferent" and were not all that helpful. Our room was smaller than was advertised on the Expedia site, and although I pointed that out to the front desk, they argued that I "got what I paid for." The restaurant was not good at all.
