"Great place to stay"
Great B&B to stay to get that true island feel. Mary and Bob very friendly and helpful hosts. That cup of Kona coffee in the morning with Mary's excellent breakfast made a good start for the day. Can give very helpful advice on sites to visit. Would stay again…..!!!!!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect for Captain Cook area"
I find B&B's a bit odd - but they are growing on me. There were small things about the room that gave it a 4 instead of 5. But everything was clean, and it was so peaceful on the lanai outside the room and upstairs... Although the cows and chickens can get a bit noisy at supper time; they are quiet at night. The breakfast was great - don't be shy about […] requesting what you like; Mary is super nice and accommodating! The geckos were awesome. And they have extra supplies you can borrow to make your trip easier (coolers, boogie boards, straw mats, etc). Location is great for exploring the southwest and western part of the island. Both Bob & Mary know a lot about the area and can make sure you get the most out of your time there - whatever you choose to do. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"decent B & B, but remote location"
All B & B rooms are on the 1st floor sharing a living room. There're beach stuff for guests, e.g. towels, snorkeling, chars, coolers, ...etc. Our room was small but decent. For our room (Hibiscus Room), hot/cold water shower was set up opposite. And there's hair in the bath tab which grossed me out. And, my husband said the room has moldy smell. I guess […] the owners are old couple, so the cleaning/maintenance didn't seem thorough. There're left-over toiletries (free hotel kinds), so you may want to pack your toiletries. The breakfast starts only from 8:30, and owners sit down with you forever. If you have your schedule and start your day early, you can just eat and leave. Otherwise, the breakfast seems to last all morning. We had coffee, bakery, fresh fruits, fruit juice, and main dish which changes daily. One thing about the location is that B & B is located in the middle of nowhere. We had to drive 20 miles to get any restaurants which all close before 9pm. I strongly recommend you plan to have dinner (e.g. in Kona) before coming back to B & B. As the public land is in front of B & B, there're feral animals, e.g. roosters, cows. Roosters start cockadoodledoo around 4am. One night a cow started mooing all night. He sounded like someone was trying to slaughter him, and very loud. In summary, if you don't mind the remote location, feral animals, and slow morning, it'd be perfect. But if you like convenience, you may want to choose somewhere near Kona. "Aloha Hale Ho'ola"
A wonderful B&B in Captain Cook, far enough from town to enjoy peace and quiet but close enough to all the beaches and sites. The owners are fantastic, breakfast is superb and the geckos provide fun entertainment on the lanai. We stumbled on it after getting soaked camping and now we wish we'd spent the whole week there.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Hale Hoola - a fantastic find"
We had such a wonderful time staying at the Hale Hoola! Between the amazing hospitality shown by Mary and Bob, and the super nice other guests, it was almost like staying with family. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but Bob helped us find fantastic local restaurants and Mary served up amazing local fruit at breakfast each morning. "We will see you again"
Hale Hola Bed and Breakfast was awesome, The owners Bob and Mary were great. Mary would fix us a basket in the mornings that we had to be gone earlier than breakfast was served. That was great! We got Married on the Island while there and Mary fixed us up a Wine Basket that night that was fabulous. Bob and Mary went out of their way to make us feel […] welcome, and we will miss them. Bob helped us with sites to go see on the Island, that helped us not to waste time. If you like to be set outside of the busy downtown atmosphere, this is a great place to stay. It is only 20 miles from downtown. You can see the ocean from their Bed and Breakfast. The Island and Bob and Mary at Hale Hola Bed and Breakfast touched our hearts. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Bed and breakfast très agréable"
This B&B is a little south of the Kona area very close to the Place of Refuge. The rooms are clean and well kept. The breakfast is excellent. The hosts are helpful and pleasant. There are beach supplies you can borrow and take to the nearby beaches. I would stay there again.
"Wonderful B and B"
07/07/14 Calvin H Honolulu, Hawaii
The directions to the B and B were great, even at night found it with no problem. Mary greeted us upon arrival and showed us the nice room. Breakfast was great with fresh brewed Kona coffee and fresh fruits, some right from the back yard. Seeing Bob eating bagels and salmon one morning looked soooo good that the next morning I was served the same. Room was clean and well presented. Great host and great B and B!
"Convenience and reasonably priced"

A small quiet b&b with beautiful front gardens with lots of tropical fruit trees. There is a comfortable communal room with a pleasant vibe, great for having a read and relaxing +wifi. Bedroom was a nice size with en suite bathroom, comfy bed (really important) and lanai with views to ocean. Breakfast was on the upstairs verandah fruits cake tea/coffee. Nice views! Hale Ho' loa location is conveniently located for exploring the Kona coastline and the Volcano. Nearest dive and snorkel site are only about 5 minutes drive@Puuhonua O Honaunau, also known as "Two Step." Nearby, there are many different kinds of shopping and places to eat, with a large grocery store about 3 miles drive north.

"Nature Lover's Paradise"
02/22/14 Angela C Voluntown, Connecticut
The highlights of our stay were falling asleep to the beautiful melodies of the tree frogs and waking up to breakfast with the friendly little geckos. Bob and Mary were most gracious and patient with our two young children allowing them to "help" with breakfast preparation and follow them all about the property. Everything a tourist needs, umbrellas, boogie boards, towels, snorkels, sunscreen, etc is available to borrow for exploring the surrounding beauty of the island. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back to try a glimpse at the dolphins in the bay next time! Thank you!
"Great place to stay!"

If you want a peaceful and very pleasant Hawaiian getaway, head to Hale Ho'ola. You'll be welcomed like old friends and treated like family. Bob and Mary are terrific hosts who obviously enjoy what they are doing! The breakfasts are delicious and the conversation is sweet. (And an added bonus is other fun guests to visit with at the breakfast table.) You can enjoy the view of the ocean from their hillside vantage point, and the B & B is well located for daytime excursions to the sites on the Big Island. Bob is a very helpful concierge, and Mary will give you all sorts of good ideas just for the asking! (By the way, the peacefulness is enhanced by no TVs.) Hale Ho'ola was just what we needed after a week with business associates at a big resort.
"Proved to be an excellent choice for us."
02/12/14 JonSE1 Prescott, Arizona
We and our son and daughter-in-law stayed in two rooms for six nights. Bob and Mary were excellent hosts, providing very nice breakfasts each morning, including fresh juice, a selection of teas, excellent fresh-brewed local coffee, fresh fruit, a daily selection of at least two kinds of breads, cakes, and sweet rolls, and a main course. Everything was well prepared, tasty, and nicely served each morning on the Breakfast Lanai overlooking the ocean. Our daughter-in-law would rather have fewer sweets for breakfast, so some others might feel the same. I am sure that Mary would have tried to accommodate her if she had made such a request. Parking is assured for each guest room and WiFi is free. Our two rooms each had a private lanai with refrigerator. All rooms open onto a common lounge area furnished with a couch and chairs, a microwave, small table and chairs, and a variety of loaner items for the beach, picnics, snorkeling, and Boogie boarding. The grounds are garden-like and very pleasant. They also provide an outdoor shower for washing off the sand when you return from the beach. As in most Hawaii homes and B&Bs, Bob and Mary request that you remove your shoes at the door to the common area and not wear outside shoes in your rooms, the common area, or the office. We found Bob and Mary to be wonderful and accommodating hosts and very nice people. Bob had injured his shoulder so their friend Linda was assisting with the kitchen and room service during our stay, and we found Linda to be as nice and helpful as Bob and Mary. We really enjoyed our stay at their B&B. This B&B makes an excellent headquarters for visiting the Kona region. Bob and Mary will provide any assistance needed when planning activities.
"Hale Ho'ola - Sweet spot on the Big Island"
02/06/14 Brendan W Bowral, Australia
Bob and Mary manage to hit that sweet spot in hospitality - treating you like family but staying out of your way when you want to chill out ! We are a family of five - 3 teenage kids with lots of energy and lots of appetite - our hosts helped us out many times with local suggestions for things to do for the former - saved us lots of time and money - and the latter , well Mary's Hawaiian style breakfast buffet with local Kona coffee gave us all a great start to every day on the Island - the rest was up to us and we had the time of of our lives. It was also cool to meet different international guests every other day at the breakfast table - lots of interesting travel conversations can be had - or you can just keep to yourself on your private verandah or downstairs common areas. If you want a place with character, with hosts that are just regular folks that care that you enjoy your stay - this is the B & B for you The Watsons Bowral, Australia
