"I'd go again tomorrow"
Small room, but everything we needed! All things were new. Great shower. Great staff. Great price. Great location. What more do you want from a hotel in NYC when you're out of the room all day???Genuine Expedia guest review
"Goog things come in small packages."
The rooms are very small but perfect for me. Bathroom was beautiful and the bed was insanely comfortable...better than at more expensive hotels. I slept like a baby. Would definitely recommend and stay there again in the future.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lipstick on a Pig"
Late one night after getting back from the office, I found that room had not been cleaned. The hotel does not have cleaning staff in the evening, so I was out of luck. I received no discount on my stay or anything complimentary for the inconvenience. The facade of the hotel looks "boutiqey" like so many NYC hotels these days, but the rooms themselves […] have laminate flooring and are heated by window units that could have been picked out of a dump site. The rooms literally looked to have been designed by a college kid on a shoestring budget. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Value and Outstanding Staff"
I stayed four nights on business. I upgraded to the queen size room for space purposes. The room was nicely sized by New York standards in particular for the price point of the hotel. The best part of the stay was the staff. They went out of their way to be accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Only one of two elevators worked for entire hotel; hotel staff was amazing & so helpful though. When we got to hotel (two of us total), we originally booked a room with double/full size bed..... room was TINY and we just couldn't do it (no where to put our luggage even!!); so we upgraded for $30 more a night to two double beds.... Much better for two […] people to stay vs. first room. Location is dead center Manhattan & only a few blocks from Empire State building w/ tons of restaurants within walking distance of hotel.... would recommend overall! This hotel gave good value for the money. The location is very convenient - it's pretty centrally located for sightseeing in NY. The room was pretty small, but very clean and comfortable. We only stayed one night, so I can't say how good a job the cleaning staff does during your stay. The bathroom was nice - showers designed without doors means the […] floor gets pretty wet, but no big deal. Staff at the front desk were nice. The lobby is undergoing renovation and one of the elevators wasn't working, so getting to our floor took a while sometimes, but those things really weren't a big deal. Overall, a good, relatively reasonably-priced place to crash for a short trip to NYC. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The MAve NYC - small but stylish!"
In New York, all I really want it a clean room where I'm not afraid to touch the bedspread. I guess I don't have the highest expectations, but either way the MAve certainly passed with flying colors and provided everything we needed for a quick one-night stay. The room, while small, was stylish, well equipped and most importantly, *clean*. I will say […] though, that if you are accustomed to lots of space or require it for whatever reason, this might not be the best place for you. If however, you are like me and live in a 400 sq foot apartment and can pack in a small overnight bag, this place is perfect. Location was great and the staff was really friendly and helpful. They stored our bags when we got there (too early for check-in at 3) and after we checked out as we were spending the rest of the day in New York, which was perfect! Would definitely stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
smallest hotel room i've ever seen -- and i've stayed in a lot of new york city hotels over the years. there literally was not room to stand next to the bed. this would be redeemed if there was a lobby or some good common space in the hotel, but there is none of that either. also, the advertised breakfast was just pastries and coffee -- no yogurt or […] fruit or anything like that. it's fine for someone who is not planning on spending any time in the hotel. otherwise, stay elsewhere. "MAve Dec 2011"
Excellent location, nicely decorated room. Rooms are not large, but are comfortable. Breakfast pastries were excellent, staff was helpful. Only downside was construction going on across the street.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Solid choice for hotel."
Small but clean rooms with nice light. Centrally located neighborhood. Hallways a little tired with old carpeting, but passable considering they had rooms for under $200 a night. Friendly staff. Will definitely stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Felt like a hostel...not a hotel"
Do yourself a favor- pay a bit extra and stay elsewhere. We could not have been LESS impressed by the Mave on all levels- from the room itself to the cleanliness to their mediocre customer service. The previous night we had stayed at Hotel Indigo (for the same price) just 3 blocks away and the difference was night and day. Hotel Mave felt more like […] staying in a hostel than a hotel...will definitely stay elsewhere my next visit to NYC. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, Comfortable and SMALL"
The room we stayed in was very clean, very comfortable, AND VERY SMALL. If that doesn't bother you, then the MAve is a good place for you.Genuine Expedia guest review
"MAve Hotel NYC"
Room was tiny, but well appointed. We were in a room tucked away in a corner on the 3rd floor, so we barely heard any street noise. Location couldn't be beat, with the subway only a street away. Continental breakfast was a mix of high quality danishes, muffins and croissants which were much better then many hotels fare. Staff was very friendly. I would […] defiantly stay here again. "Small room, great staff."
If there had been a chair it would have been MUCH better. Only the bed, end tables, and a dresser. Too bleak.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very comfortable rooms, super nice and clean considering price. I found parking right out front and hotel even upgraded us. I will be recommending this to friends coming in and using myself whenever last minute stays come up.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"One of my worst hotel experiences"
The only thing good I can say about this hotel is that the bed was comfortable. The room was very small and there was no nightstand and no lamp beside the bed (so no reading in bed). There was a step up into the bathroom, which was very small. The desk was shoved up tightly between the end of the bed and the doorway to the bathroom so that the door […] to the bathroom could not open fully, which made getting into the bathroom a challenge and made it impossible to use the full length mirror that was mounted to the inside of the bathroom door. There was no counter space in the bathroom. The heating was provided by a window unit (similar to an old fashioned window air conditioner) that blew cold air most of the time, even with the thermostat turned to 78 degrees. I was fortunate that my activities allowed me little time in the room except to sleep; otherwise, I would have been entirely miserable rather than just miserable. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Another Boutique Pig with Lipstick"
The lobby is intriguing. The rooms are like dorm rooms, with cheap laminate wood flooring and a loud window ac/heating unit that must have been removed from some slum. The thing would switch from heat to a/c to get the temperature right. Good way to catch a cold, which I did. Service? They forgot to make my room the first day. When I got back from work […] at 10pm, there was no one in housekeeping. Hope that helps. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"MAve Hotel - "Room Service, send up a room!""
The hotel service was adequate as in I checked in fairly uneventfully however in the morning, the coffee and pastry set up was sparse at best. Do it, or don't do it at all. If you didn't like French Vanilla in your coffee, you could be out of luck. I did not indulge; partially because I was in a rush. What I did find outrageous was when I opened the […] door to my room, I immediately felt claustrophobic. Now, I've stayed at hotels all over the world and I understand space in some big cities can be an issue but I had no place to hang my clothes, as in there were no closets! My winter coat shared a hook behind the door of my bathroom next to a wet towel! The convenience of the hotel location and its price were my true motivators. That said, the area was lined with small boutique hotels like MAve. I think I could do better. Thanks for reading.... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Mave in the Flatiron district of NYC"
We checked in late on a Sunday night. The front desk staff were nice but this is not an ultra luxe experience (nor was it expected to be), so there is no one offering to take you to your room. Our only issue was that our room was on the 3rd floor and therefore the late night garbage pick up and the extra early morning garbage pickup from the construction […] in the bldg across the street was quite annoying. I don't know if it would have made that much of a difference being a few floors higher. Other than that, the room is modern, the bed was super comfy and the bathroom was spacious (if lacking in storage space). The hotel definitely feels more European in style - but they offer free breakfast in the lobby which is always a bonus. The hotel is close to great restaurants and an easy walk to Union Square. "Charming boutique hotel"
This is just what it claims to be... A nice boutique hotel don't expect the Ritz, but the rooms are not as small as some have complained about. Ours had a King bed, and we still had lots of room to move around. Great value & incredible location!!! Rooms are comfortable and have all the modern conveniences you could want. Rain shower head, iPod speakers, […] super linens on the bed, great water pressure, A/C. The shower stall has a half glass door, so water does splash out when showring. We fixed that by requesting a 3rd "big towel" and putting it on the floor to make up for the little one that was too wet from the splashes. No biggie!! The staff was always very accommodating & helpful during our 5 night stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The MAve Hotel is worth a stay."
We stayed at the MAve Hotel for 2 nights. The staff was really friendly and very helpful. They recommended we go to a local Lebanese restaurant, made our reservations and even sent complimentary glasses of champagne. Awesome recommendation too, since the food was amazing. The lobby at the MAve was under renovations which was a bummer. It's part of the […] charm, so instead there were painters in the spot where the balls would be. All in all, the room was small but very clean. Could definitely use a mirror in the room other than the bathroom, but I give it 9/10 and will definitely stay there again. "Good hotel, room was really small"
The MAve is a good boutique hotel: nice staff, good maintenance, free WiFi, very clean, complementary continental breakfast buffet (take away), nice bathroom with good amenities. But our room was really really small, A/C was noisy and we had absolutely no view from the window (another wall probably 2 feet away). If you just need a place to sleep which […] is clean, safe and conveniently located, this is a good deal. If you expect a little bit more than that, you may prefer some other hotels. "CLEAN, GREAT LOCATION, WONDERFUL STAFF!!"
This hotel was a little gem. My sister was staying at the W hotel in union square and the service was awful and her room was filthy. The Mave was so much nicer than the W in so many ways. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the room was immaculate. The room was VERY small, but i wasn't in NY to spend time in the hotel. Despite the room size, the […] bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was new and very modern. The location was great--close to everything. I was really impressed with the great continental breakfast they served. Fresh, hot coffee or tea with real milk--a huge array of fresh pastries and croissants. It was really nice considering a croissant in NY can run you $5. I will definitely stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, neutrally located, affordable hotel in NYC. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Didn't really spend much time in the room/hotel, but for the time I did spend, very few complaints. Probably need better A/C units and a shower that is fully enclosed (gets a bit messy with the water flying everywhere). Great location!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"MAve Hotel NYC- looks better from a distance"
The location was excellent. The hotel was nice and clean, but the quality and upkeep of the place looks better in the photos. Lots of minor maintenance needed in our room. Wall plug window AC units a disappointing touch.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location for walking and access to subway"
Very clean. Comfortable beds. The rooms are very VERY small but that is not uncommon for NYC. I was in a room with a double bed. If you plan on spending a lot of time in your room, it would be too small for 2 people. Otherwise, it is one of the best hotel picks I've made for NYC and I will stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great service, nice hotel"
The customer service at this hotel is really above and beyond. Even though it's not a service they offer, they always bring coffee to my room every time I stay there. "Blood stain on sheets! but it wasn't all bad"
We spent 3 nights at the hotel and overall our experience was good (not spectacular). I'm an avid traveler and go to NYC about 1-2 a year at least. Positives: They have the basics down. It's a nice, overall clean hotel. Bathroom has a shower only (which I prefer) and the coffee-machine in the room is great. Staff is REALLY nice and helpful. They give […] you a free basic breakfast (grab-and-go style). The location is good, although for the money we could've stayed closer to Times Sq if we had kept hunting for deals. Negatives: I'll start with the small stuff. The building and the common areas aren't as cool-looking as they make it seem like in the pictures. The room's pretty small, even by NYC standards. The TV is decent but the channels don't match the list they give you and the remote doesn't work as expected at all. Fitness area is tiny (which was luckily fine because no one else was in there when I went). And oh yeah, there was a dime-sized blood stain on our top sheet on day 2. We discovered it when we got back for the day (around 10p). They apologized and sent someone up (wearing a sweatshirt!) who struggled with making the bed even though my husband helped him! That would never happen in a big-chain hotel. So yeah, personally, I'd never stay there again. Unless perhaps if they cut their prices by half and there was no other decent choice available. And I wouldn't recommend it to others only because there's plenty of hotel options in NY and you can usually get a good deal if you look around a bit. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Modern, stylish, good value, friendly hotel"
This hotel had excellent, helpful front of house staff, the room (Boulevard King) was presented well with a clean, crisp, modern look. The wi-fi, safe and tea-coffee making facilities (all free of charge) all added to making this a good value room, along with the bathrobes and bathroom toiletries also provided. The recommendations provided for different […] restaurants were all good, we tried 3 off the list and were not disappointed. Upon leaving the hotel provided free bag storage after check out and arranged a private car to take us to the airport, which was not much more expensive than our original taxi to the hotel. The location is ideal for holiday makers, being located a short walk from the 6-line on 28th street and only a couple of blocks off Broadway, making it a nice 15min walk to Times Square. If I had negative comments to say it would be that the glazed area next to the lobby looked like it was undergoing work and would have been easy enough to mask off temporarily to make it look a bit tidier (although one day there was a band playing in there with the guy on the front desk playing drums, which was pretty cool - see picture). Also the milk/cream was not topped up adequately in the rooms on a daily basis. These really are minor points, but points I hope (and think) the hotel can easily rectify. On the whole this was an excellent hotel that I would recommend to anyone that wanted a holiday maker base to set up from. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Can't really fault it!!! Thank you"
Absolutely fantastic. The Mave really is a superb hotel. Loved the modern, stylish themes throughout the place. We stayed in a Boulevard King room and it was very spacious. Free breakfast was pathetic --just a hotel room with coffee and some pasteries/muffins. Had to look under bed for an item that fell (ring) it was full of garbage and dust.(no wonder I was sneezing a lot). "Great hotel for people on budget"
Was a very nice hotel. The rooms can be a little noisy during the night due to the thin windows. "Small but perfectly formed."
Great staff, very friendly and willing to help. The rooms are small (ours was very small) but very suitable for us. Let's face it you dont go to NYC to send time in the hotel room, and as a result the size isn't an issue. The hotel staff cleaned and changed the towels in the room every day, which in 95 percent humidity is a must. The hotel location […] is also great.
