"Nice hotel, but sleeping in not allowed..."
Hotel is clean, decor is modern. Rooms are very nice though a bit small, even for NYC. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was very small with little to no counter space. Shower had a "rain fall" head but there was little water pressure, so it took forever to wash off the soap - a bit disappointing. Free wi-fi (the kind where you have to re-enter a […] username and password every time you turn back on your phone/laptop). Window AC unit may be a problem for some (noise, proximity to bed) but for us it was no problem. Staff was really friendly and eager to offer any assistance possible. Checking/checkout was fast and easy. However... Housekeeping starting knocking on our door at 9am on checkout day (a Sunday morning). And yelling, "Come back later!" from the bed (3 feet away) didn't work until we literally SCREAMED for them to go away. It was a rude awakening, but not nearly as rude as the fact that they knocked again 30 minutes later. What was the urgency when checkout isn't until noon? The third time they showed up in the span of just over an hour, I felt forced to put on some clothes to reach out and hang the DND sign - but by that time we were well awake and annoyed, so we just showered and left. It really ruined the weekend... Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
A small hotel that was convenient to most things. Rooms were small but comfortable and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
It certainly is a "boutique hotel" - completely white lobby, tiny elevators, gorgeous bathroom, microscopic hotel room. The hotel does off complementary wifi and breakfast, but get to breakfast early, since there is no seating outside of ottomans.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fine- could get a better place for price though"
Room was small and hotel was under construction. Only one elevator was working so i had to wait a while. They only had room service from one restaurant without breakfast. Breakfast was continental- pastries, coffee etc. Besides for that everything else was good. Staff was nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great value for what I paid. Perfect for quick NY trips No business center but there are numerous office support services with 3 blocks and very convenient.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Easy solution for inexpensive night in Manhattan"

"ONE WORD... BEDBUGS!!!!!!"
I was shocked when I got to my room to fine that behind the bed was really dusty and dirty. That should have been my first clue, but because I didn't see any bedbugs, I stayed. Big mistake... I woke up to find blood all over my pillow and sheets, and their poop all over the pillow!!!!! Sooooo gross! I went down to tell the front desk and check out as […] fast as humanly possible, but was shocked at their reaction....."Oh, ok, I will call housekeeping."... I called later that night to see if they treated the room, and to try again to get some reaction from them, as I was still in shock and to my dismay they had actually put someone in the room that very same day!!!!!!! Nasty Nasty Nasty!!! Never again.... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"The MAve Hotel - Great staff!!"
We have recently found a hotel that offers an excellent location, good size rooms, great value and clean. The staff are always friendly, helpful and cheerful. It is a pleasure to stay in a hotel with these attributes. We will be back!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Small room but very clean and convenient. Perfect for one-night and one person.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"I'd go again tomorrow"
Small room, but everything we needed! All things were new. Great shower. Great staff. Great price. Great location. What more do you want from a hotel in NYC when you're out of the room all day???Genuine Expedia guest review
"Goog things come in small packages."
The rooms are very small but perfect for me. Bathroom was beautiful and the bed was insanely comfortable...better than at more expensive hotels. I slept like a baby. Would definitely recommend and stay there again in the future.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lipstick on a Pig"
Late one night after getting back from the office, I found that room had not been cleaned. The hotel does not have cleaning staff in the evening, so I was out of luck. I received no discount on my stay or anything complimentary for the inconvenience. The facade of the hotel looks "boutiqey" like so many NYC hotels these days, but the rooms themselves […] have laminate flooring and are heated by window units that could have been picked out of a dump site. The rooms literally looked to have been designed by a college kid on a shoestring budget. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Value and Outstanding Staff"
I stayed four nights on business. I upgraded to the queen size room for space purposes. The room was nicely sized by New York standards in particular for the price point of the hotel. The best part of the stay was the staff. They went out of their way to be accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Only one of two elevators worked for entire hotel; hotel staff was amazing & so helpful though. When we got to hotel (two of us total), we originally booked a room with double/full size bed..... room was TINY and we just couldn't do it (no where to put our luggage even!!); so we upgraded for $30 more a night to two double beds.... Much better for two […] people to stay vs. first room. Location is dead center Manhattan & only a few blocks from Empire State building w/ tons of restaurants within walking distance of hotel.... would recommend overall! This hotel gave good value for the money. The location is very convenient - it's pretty centrally located for sightseeing in NY. The room was pretty small, but very clean and comfortable. We only stayed one night, so I can't say how good a job the cleaning staff does during your stay. The bathroom was nice - showers designed without doors means the […] floor gets pretty wet, but no big deal. Staff at the front desk were nice. The lobby is undergoing renovation and one of the elevators wasn't working, so getting to our floor took a while sometimes, but those things really weren't a big deal. Overall, a good, relatively reasonably-priced place to crash for a short trip to NYC. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The MAve NYC - small but stylish!"
In New York, all I really want it a clean room where I'm not afraid to touch the bedspread. I guess I don't have the highest expectations, but either way the MAve certainly passed with flying colors and provided everything we needed for a quick one-night stay. The room, while small, was stylish, well equipped and most importantly, *clean*. I will say […] though, that if you are accustomed to lots of space or require it for whatever reason, this might not be the best place for you. If however, you are like me and live in a 400 sq foot apartment and can pack in a small overnight bag, this place is perfect. Location was great and the staff was really friendly and helpful. They stored our bags when we got there (too early for check-in at 3) and after we checked out as we were spending the rest of the day in New York, which was perfect! Would definitely stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
smallest hotel room i've ever seen -- and i've stayed in a lot of new york city hotels over the years. there literally was not room to stand next to the bed. this would be redeemed if there was a lobby or some good common space in the hotel, but there is none of that either. also, the advertised breakfast was just pastries and coffee -- no yogurt or […] fruit or anything like that. it's fine for someone who is not planning on spending any time in the hotel. otherwise, stay elsewhere. "MAve Dec 2011"
Excellent location, nicely decorated room. Rooms are not large, but are comfortable. Breakfast pastries were excellent, staff was helpful. Only downside was construction going on across the street.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Solid choice for hotel."
Small but clean rooms with nice light. Centrally located neighborhood. Hallways a little tired with old carpeting, but passable considering they had rooms for under $200 a night. Friendly staff. Will definitely stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Felt like a hostel...not a hotel"
Do yourself a favor- pay a bit extra and stay elsewhere. We could not have been LESS impressed by the Mave on all levels- from the room itself to the cleanliness to their mediocre customer service. The previous night we had stayed at Hotel Indigo (for the same price) just 3 blocks away and the difference was night and day. Hotel Mave felt more like […] staying in a hostel than a hotel...will definitely stay elsewhere my next visit to NYC. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"MAve Hotel NYC"
Room was tiny, but well appointed. We were in a room tucked away in a corner on the 3rd floor, so we barely heard any street noise. Location couldn't be beat, with the subway only a street away. Continental breakfast was a mix of high quality danishes, muffins and croissants which were much better then many hotels fare. Staff was very friendly. I would […] defiantly stay here again. If there had been a chair it would have been MUCH better. Only the bed, end tables, and a dresser. Too bleak.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"One of my worst hotel experiences"
The only thing good I can say about this hotel is that the bed was comfortable. The room was very small and there was no nightstand and no lamp beside the bed (so no reading in bed). There was a step up into the bathroom, which was very small. The desk was shoved up tightly between the end of the bed and the doorway to the bathroom so that the door […] to the bathroom could not open fully, which made getting into the bathroom a challenge and made it impossible to use the full length mirror that was mounted to the inside of the bathroom door. There was no counter space in the bathroom. The heating was provided by a window unit (similar to an old fashioned window air conditioner) that blew cold air most of the time, even with the thermostat turned to 78 degrees. I was fortunate that my activities allowed me little time in the room except to sleep; otherwise, I would have been entirely miserable rather than just miserable. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Another Boutique Pig with Lipstick"
The lobby is intriguing. The rooms are like dorm rooms, with cheap laminate wood flooring and a loud window ac/heating unit that must have been removed from some slum. The thing would switch from heat to a/c to get the temperature right. Good way to catch a cold, which I did. Service? They forgot to make my room the first day. When I got back from work […] at 10pm, there was no one in housekeeping. Hope that helps. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"MAve Hotel - "Room Service, send up a room!""
The hotel service was adequate as in I checked in fairly uneventfully however in the morning, the coffee and pastry set up was sparse at best. Do it, or don't do it at all. If you didn't like French Vanilla in your coffee, you could be out of luck. I did not indulge; partially because I was in a rush. What I did find outrageous was when I opened the […] door to my room, I immediately felt claustrophobic. Now, I've stayed at hotels all over the world and I understand space in some big cities can be an issue but I had no place to hang my clothes, as in there were no closets! My winter coat shared a hook behind the door of my bathroom next to a wet towel! The convenience of the hotel location and its price were my true motivators. That said, the area was lined with small boutique hotels like MAve. I think I could do better. Thanks for reading.... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Mave in the Flatiron district of NYC"
We checked in late on a Sunday night. The front desk staff were nice but this is not an ultra luxe experience (nor was it expected to be), so there is no one offering to take you to your room. Our only issue was that our room was on the 3rd floor and therefore the late night garbage pick up and the extra early morning garbage pickup from the construction […] in the bldg across the street was quite annoying. I don't know if it would have made that much of a difference being a few floors higher. Other than that, the room is modern, the bed was super comfy and the bathroom was spacious (if lacking in storage space). The hotel definitely feels more European in style - but they offer free breakfast in the lobby which is always a bonus. The hotel is close to great restaurants and an easy walk to Union Square. "Modern, stylish, good value, friendly hotel"
This hotel had excellent, helpful front of house staff, the room (Boulevard King) was presented well with a clean, crisp, modern look. The wi-fi, safe and tea-coffee making facilities (all free of charge) all added to making this a good value room, along with the bathrobes and bathroom toiletries also provided. The recommendations provided for different […] restaurants were all good, we tried 3 off the list and were not disappointed. Upon leaving the hotel provided free bag storage after check out and arranged a private car to take us to the airport, which was not much more expensive than our original taxi to the hotel. The location is ideal for holiday makers, being located a short walk from the 6-line on 28th street and only a couple of blocks off Broadway, making it a nice 15min walk to Times Square. If I had negative comments to say it would be that the glazed area next to the lobby looked like it was undergoing work and would have been easy enough to mask off temporarily to make it look a bit tidier (although one day there was a band playing in there with the guy on the front desk playing drums, which was pretty cool - see picture). Also the milk/cream was not topped up adequately in the rooms on a daily basis. These really are minor points, but points I hope (and think) the hotel can easily rectify. On the whole this was an excellent hotel that I would recommend to anyone that wanted a holiday maker base to set up from. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Can't really fault it!!! Thank you"
Absolutely fantastic. The Mave really is a superb hotel. Loved the modern, stylish themes throughout the place. We stayed in a Boulevard King room and it was very spacious. Breakfast of coffee & pastries was a very nice treat as most hotels don't offer breakfast in NYC. Staff were great too. Thank you to the Mave ;)Genuine Expedia guest review

"LAST RESORT HOTEL"
Free breakfast was pathetic --just a hotel room with coffee and some pasteries/muffins. Had to look under bed for an item that fell (ring) it was full of garbage and dust.(no wonder I was sneezing a lot). "Great hotel for people on budget"
Was a very nice hotel. The rooms can be a little noisy during the night due to the thin windows. I would recommend upgrading to a room better than urban full suites as our room had a view of a fire escape and brick wall. Other than that it is a very good hotel. The staff were extremely helpful. "Small and noisy"
Room was a pigeon hole -comfortable queen sized bed pushed up into wall so had to climb over to get in. One desk chair that blocked access to bathroom if being used. No sitting room for 2nd person. Great location near up and downtown. We walked everywhere with ease. Continual noise from outside traffic - if noise sensitive beware! No lobby and breakfast […] supplied is a joke. "Small but perfectly formed."
Great staff, very friendly and willing to help. The rooms are small (ours was very small) but very suitable for us. Let's face it you dont go to NYC to send time in the hotel room, and as a result the size isn't an issue. The hotel staff cleaned and changed the towels in the room every day, which in 95 percent humidity is a must. The hotel location […] is also great. If you like walking it's location is walking distance to the financial district, 5th Ave, Central Park and the Empire State and the Flatiron buildings are only a couple of blocks away in the opersite directions from the hotel. "Great Stay in NYC"
The hotel is great. Very clean and modern. The front staff is really friendly, and there is someone there 24/7, which is a nice comfort. The area is great - close to everything you need and a good middle between uptown and downtown. The only thing that might strike a nerve with some people is the room size. Our room was tiny - smaller than anyone's […] bedroom I've ever seen. However, being to NYC several times before, this is something that can be expected. I was hardly ever in the room, so it personally doesn't bother me. The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. Also, the windows aren't soundproofed, so noise from the street will be heard - again, expected in NYC. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Continental breakfast of truly excellent patisseries. The staff were so helpful, welcoming, polite and interested. My PC had a wifi protocol issue. I was immediately supplied […] with a cable and offered a call to their online engineer. The Mave system sorted the problem out itself but the staff attitude was spot-on. Very clean and well kept, funky decor in public areas. Nice bathroom & toiletry selection. Inside hotel is very quiet. Downside: Madison avenue is busy so it's noisy day and night.
