Sofitel Marrakech Palais Imperial - Marrakech

This hotel was a fabulous place to stay, we really loved it. The staff were great, the food in the restaurant was gorgeous (expensive, but a lovely treat!), we got upgraded to a suite room which was very spacious, the pool area was perfect and they had the most comfortable sun lounger/double bed style lounging areas - lovely for couples and families […] to get a little bit of privacy, and lie together. The only things I could say that I really didn't like were: #1 As a nonsmoker I found the smell of smoke everywhere quite horrible, the room really smelt. #2 I found the pool area snack bar staff quite arrogant and rude. #3 The price of the food by the pool was absolutely ridiculously high; we only ate poolside once as the food was not very nice either. We felt really ripped off! Appart from those three little negatives we would definately recommend staying here and would do so again if we were in Marrakech. Read more

The staff could not have been more helpful and acommodating. They anticipate your every need, recognize when you are not pleased with something and correct it immediately. I would not hesititate to stay there again. In fact, we cannot wait to return. Excellent hotel.

My sixteen year-old daughter and I just returned from a five day stay and the Sofitel exceeded our expectations in every way. It's a beautiful hotel (quite large) and our room was large and comfortable. The outdoor pools are exceptional -- perfect for couples and/or for a family. The location is also ideal -- an easy walk to the medina, but in a clean/quiet […] location. We walked to nearby restaurants after dark and never felt unsafe. My only recommendation is to avoid the lunch buffet in the hotel restaurant --the outdoor poolside restaurant is a much better value. Read more

Had a most enjoyable stay in this hotel in a great location in Marrakech. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. A special thanks to Abderrahim, Hind, Kenza, Siham and all the team who looked after us so well at breakfast every morning, and to the valet parking staff who were always efficient and had a friendly word no matter how often we came […] and went. The hotel lobby, pool and outdoor eating areas deserve a special mention for their opulence and comfort. There's a lovely big swimming pool and a nicely maintained gardens with fountains. All the communal areas look great. There are actually 2 pools and an outdoor jacuzzi, but the larger pool and jacuzzi aren't heated, so would only be usable in Summer. The location is great: walking distance (15 mins# to the main square, but far enough from the hectic […] city centre to feel relaxing. There are always taxis outside. Apart from that, it's ok. Our room wasn't very 5 star. It looked more like the average of every 3 star hotel room I've stayed in, but with nicer toiletries and an ipod dock. The other services are a bit over-priced and average #e.g. slightly tasteless coffees, expensive spa#, so we tended to go elsewhere - and there are plenty of places nearby. There's a grocery store and an off-licence behind an apartment block on Mohammed VI that faces the junction with Avenue El Kadissia. The excellent Comptoir Darna restaurant/bar is 3 mins away on Avenue Echouhada. For hamman, we went to the lovely Bahia Riad & Spa. Our stay wasn't without gliches: the key card stopped working, the TV stopped working twice and had to be replaced, there was confusion about whether breakfast was included #which the hotel rectified) and someone else's minibar was billed to our room. Service was a bit slow, but friendly. The one thing that's off-putting is that right outside the hotel wall, there's a strip of land covered in rubbish; the Sofitel really should clean this up. Only niggles concerned the whole reception function - concierge forgot to make my restaurant reservation and when my room wasn't cleaned, I told reception and 4 hours later, still not done! Fantastic hotel! Great location on the edge of the Medina (5 minute walk to the wall), but far enough away to escape the hustle and bustle when needed. Great but very expensive breakfast (GBP19 per person) - would suggest having on first morning and then going to restaurant 1minute down the road for a quarter on the price! Despite the rather slow and seemingly disorganised check in, this hotel is perfect. The rooms are large and well appointed (we had a junior suite) with all mod cons you need, including iPod docking station with Bose speakers. The pools are great - one warmer than the other, and the area around the pools delightful! The restaurant is a little over-priced […] however a very good cafe (breakfast) and restaurant (dinner) is located only about 20 meters away. A really excellent hotel with great facilities ..... . On arrival you are welcomed in a rose adorned reception which smells wonderful and given refreshing wipes of fleur d'oranger and a tissane drink . The pools are huge and there is a great choice of sun loungers , hammocks and sun beds . You never feel overcrowded . A fantastic spa with hamman and […] great treatments as well as a good gym . There are two good restaurants in the hotel , one featuring a cabaret and there are also some good restaurants within 5 minutes walking distance of the hotel . The staff were helpful and friendly and the concierge was able to source a driver ( with comfortable air con vehicle ) to take you sight seeing at your convenience . I highly recommend the hotel and will be returning for a spa weekend break . My daughters ( ages between 18 to 29 ) loved the place and want to go back . Read more

Een tweede bezoek aan dit hotel, nu onder een nieuwe manager. Prima locatie, in principe alles goed geregeld, maar veel service hangt af van de persoon waar je mee te maken hebt. Zonder een blik op je reservering probeert de ene receptioniste je onder te brengen in het goedkopere naastgelegen Sofitel Lounge & Spa, terwijl de andere receptioniste zelfs […] je kamernummer uit haar hoofd weet. De concierge geeft reservering niet door, koud eten komt opgewarmd met een hap eruit weer terug op tafel, de seveerster vindt dat niet haar probleem, maar de restaurantmanager laat de kosten van het diner op het restaurant zetten. Service aan het zwembad is attent (Samira) maar bij het ontbijt komt er tot vier keer toe een ander met de ontbijtbon langs, terwijlniet eerder hebt hoeven aftekenen, en je gezien de andere missers toch wel je reservering wilt checken op het hebben geboekt van ontbijt en dat tot vier keer toe moet vertellen. De PR-manager is een zeer charmante gastheer en doet erg zijn best je welkom te laten voelen. Erg veel management aanwezig, maar dat draagt niet noodzakelijkerwijs bij aan een snellere service, integendeel, er wordt veel onderling gepraat, tot aan foto 's gemaakt van elkaar toe. En jij als klant zit maar te wachten op je rekening. We hebben een erg leuk verblijf in Marrakech gehad, maar om meer frustraties met bedienend personeel te vermijden hebben we het grootste deel van de week buiten het hotel gegeten en daarbij geweldig leuke restaurants ontdekt. Tout s'est très bien passé , personnel très accueillant, réception et concierge à l'écoute et attentifs a vos demandes; 2 petits bémols : l'attente pour prendre possession de notre chambre à l'arrivée ( arrivés à 9 h du matin a l hôtel et chambre a 15h ) et la clim qui était défectueuse ( avec cette chaleur, elle est indispensable )

Das Hotel ist großzügig und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die Lage zur Medina ist optimal. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis der Zimmer ist in Ordnung, nur die Nebenkosten sind sehr hoch. Das Personal ist teilweise arrogant und überheblich. Eigener Parkplatz kostenlos vorhanden.
